Ester 5

1 Al tercer día (*Ester 5:1-a) y una vez acabada su oración, se despojó de sus vestidos de orante y se revistió de reina. Recobrada su espléndida belleza, invocó a Dios, que vela sobre todos y los salva, y tomando a dos siervas, se apoyó blandamente en una de ellas, mientras la otra la seguía alzando el ruedo del vestido. (*Ester 5:1-b) Iba ella resplandeciente, en el apogeo de su belleza, con rostro alegre como de una enamorada, aunque su corazón estaba oprimido por la angustia. (*Ester 5:1-c) Franqueando todas las puertas, llegó hasta la presencia del rey; estaba el rey sentado en el trono real, revestido de las vestiduras de las ceremonias públicas, cubierto de oro y piedras preciosas y con aspecto verdaderamente impresionante. (*Ester 5:1-d) Alzando su rostro, resplandeciente de gloria, lanzó una mirada tan colmada de ira que la reina se desvaneció; perdió el color y apoyó la cabeza sobre la sierva que la precedía. (*Ester 5:1-e) Mudó entonces Dios el corazón del rey en dulzura, angustiado se precipitó del trono y la tomó en sus brazos y en tanto ella se recobraba, le dirigía dulces palabras, (*Ester 5:1-f) diciendo: «¿Qué ocurre, Ester? Yo soy tu hermano, ten confianza. No morirás, pues mi mandato alcanza sólo al común de las gentes. Acércate».	1 And on the third day Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's hall: now he sat upon his throne in the hall of the palace, over against the door of the house.
2 Y tomando el rey el cetro de oro, lo puso sobre el cuello de Ester, y la besó, diciendo: «Háblame». (*Ester 5:2-a) Ella respondió: «Te he visto, señor, como a un ángel de Dios y mi corazón se turbó ante el temor de tu gloria. Porque eres admirable, señor, y tu rostro está lleno de dignidad». (*Ester 5:2-b) Y en diciendo esto, se desmayó de nuevo. El rey se turbó,, y todos sus cortesanos se esforzaron por reanimarla.	2 And when he saw Esther the queen standing, she pleased his eyes, and he held out toward her the golden sceptre, which he held in his hand: and she drew near, and kissed the top of his sceptre.
3 El rey le preguntó: «¿Qué sucede, reina Ester? ¿Qué deseas? Incluso la mitad del reino te será dada».	3 And the king said to her: What wilt then, queen Esther? what is thy request? if thou shouldst even ask one half of the kingdom, it shall be given to thee.
4 Respondió Ester: «Si al rey le place, venga hoy el rey, con Amán, al banquete que le tengo preparado».	4 But she answered: If it please the king. I beseech thee to come to me this day, and Aman with thee to the banquet which I have prepared.
5 Respondió el rey: «Avisad inmediatamente a Amán para que se cumpla el deseo de Ester». El rey y Amán fueron al banquete preparado por Ester,	5 And the king said forthwith: Call ye Aman quickly, that he may obey Esther's will. So the king and Aman came to the banquet which the queen had prepared for them.
6 y durante el banquete, dijo el rey a Ester: «¿Qué quieres pedir?, pues se te dará. ¿Qué deseas? Hasta la mitad del reino te será concedida».	6 And the king said to her, after he had drunk wine plentifully: What dost thou desire should be given thee? and for what thing askest thou? although thou shouldst ask the half of my kingdom, thou shalt have it.
7 Ester respondió: «¿Mi petición y mi deseo?	7 And Esther answered: My petition and request is this:
8 Si he hallado gracia a los ojos del rey, y si al rey le place escuchar mi petición y cumplir mi deseo, que vengan mañana el rey y Amán al banquete que he preparado para ellos. Y haré entonces lo que el rey me pide».	8 If I have found favour in the king's sight, and if it please the king to give me what I ask, and to fulfil my petition: let the king and Aman come to the banquet which I have prepared them, and to morrow I will open my mind to the king.
9 Salió aquel día Amán contento y con alegre corazón; pero al ver a Mardoqueo en la Puerta Real, que no se levantaba, ni siquiera se movía ante él, se llenó Amán de ira contra Mardoqueo,	9 So Aman went out that day joyful and merry. And when he saw Mardochai sitting before the gate of the palace, and that he not only did not rise up to honour him, but did not so much as move from the place where he sat, he was exceedingly angry:
10 pero se dominó, y yéndose a su casa, mandó venir a sus amigos y a su mujer Zeres,	10 But dissembling his anger, and returning into his house, he called together to him his friends, and Zares his wife:
11 y les habló de su gloria y sus riquezas, de sus muchos hijos y de cómo el rey le había encumbrado, elevándole por encima de los jefes y servidores del rey.	11 And he declared to them the greatness of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and with how great glory the king had advanced him above all his princes and servants.
12 Y añadió: «Más aún; la reina Ester me ha invitado a mí sólo, junto con el rey, a un banquete que ha preparado; también para mañana estoy invitado por ella, junto con el rey.	12 And after this he said: Queen Esther also hath invited no other to the banquet with the king, but me: and with her I am also to dine to morrow with the king:
13 Pero todo esto nada significa para mí, mientras vea que el judío Mardoqueo, sigue sentado a la Puerta Real».	13 And whereas I have all these things, I think I have nothing, so long as I see Mardochai the Jew sitting before the king's gate.
14 Su mujer Zeres y todos sus amigos le respondieron: «Manda preparar una horca de cincuenta codos de altura y mañana por la mañana pides al rey que cuelguen de ella a Mardoqueo; así podrás ir satisfecho al banquete con el rey». Agradó el consejo a Amán y mandó preparar la horca.	14 Then Zares his wife, and the rest of his friends answered him: Order a great beam to be prepared, fifty cubits high, and in the morning speak to the king, that Mardochai may be hanged upon it, and so thou shalt go full of joy with the king to the banquet. The counsel pleased him, and he commanded a high gibbet to be prepared.
