2 Crónicas 1

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Salomón, hijo de David, se afianzó en su reino; Yahveh, su Dios, estaba con él y le engrandeció sobremanera.	1 Solomon son of David then made himself secure over his kingdom. Yahweh his God was with him,making him more and more powerful.
2 Salomón habló a todo Israel, a los jefes de millar y de cien, a los jueces y a todos los jefes de todo Israel, cabezas de casas paternas.	2 Solomon then spoke to al Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges andto every leader in all Israel, the heads of families.
3 Después Salomón fue con toda la asamblea al alto de Gabaón, porque allí se hallaba la Tienda del Encuentro de Dios, que Moisés, siervo de Yahveh, había hecho en el desierto.	3 Solomon, and the whole assembly with him, then went to the high place at Gibeon, where God's Tentof Meeting was, which Moses, servant of God, had made in the desert.
4 Cuanto al arca de Dios, David la había llevado de Quiryat Yearim al lugar preparado para ella, pues le había alzado una tienda en Jerusalén.	4 The ark of the covenant, however, David had brought from Kiriath-Jearim to the place which he hadprepared for it, having pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.
5 El altar de bronce que había hecho Besalel, hijo de Urí, hijo de Jur, estaba también allí delante de la Morada de Yahveh. Fueron, pues, Salomón y la asamblea para consultarle.	5 The bronze altar which Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, had made was there, in front of Yahweh'sDwelling, where Solomon and the assembly consulted him.
6 Subió Salomón allí, al altar de bronce que estaba ante Yahveh, junto a la Tienda del Encuentro, y ofreció sobre él mil holocaustos.	6 There Solomon presented a burnt offering before Yahweh on the bronze altar of the Tent of Meeting,making on it one thousand burnt offerings.
7 Aquella noche se apareció Dios a Salomón y le dijo: «Pídeme lo que quieras que te dé».	7 That night God appeared to Solomon and said, 'Ask what you would like me to give you.'
8 Salomón respondió a Dios: «Tú tuviste gran amor a mi padre David, y a mí me has hecho rey en su lugar.	8 Solomon replied to God, 'You showed most faithful love to David my father, and you have made meking in succession to him.
9 Ahora, pues, oh Yahveh Dios, que se cumpla la promesa que hiciste a mi padre David, ya que tú me has hecho rey sobre un pueblo numeroso como el polvo de la tierra.	9 Yahweh God, the promise you made to David my father has now been fulfil ed, since you have mademe king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.
10 Dame, pues, ahora sabiduría e inteligencia, para que sepa conducirme ante este pueblo tuyo tan grande».	10 Therefore give me wisdom and knowledge to act as leader of this people, for how otherwise couldsuch a great people as yours be governed?'
11 Respondió Dios a Salomón: «Ya que piensas esto en tu corazón, y no has pedido riquezas ni bienes ni gloria ni la muerte de tus enemigos; ni tampoco has pedido larga vida, sino que has pedido para ti sabiduría e inteligencia para saber juzgar a mi pueblo, del cual te he hecho rey,	11 'Since that is what you want,' God said to Solomon, 'since you have asked, not for riches, treasure,honour, the lives of your enemies, or even for a long life, but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people ofwhom I have made you king,
12 por eso te son dadas la sabiduría y el entendimiento, y además te daré riqueza, bienes y gloria como no las tuvieron los reyes que fueron antes de ti, ni las tendrá ninguno de los que vengan después de ti».	12 therefore wisdom and knowledge are granted you. I give you riches too, and treasure, and honoursuch as no king had before you and none will have after you.'
13 Salomón regresó a Jerusalén desde el alto de Gabaón, de delante de la Tienda del Encuentro, y reinó sobre Israel.	13 So Solomon came away from the high place at Gibeon, from the Tent of Meeting, to Jerusalem andreigned over Israel.
14 Salomón reunió carros y caballos, tuvo 1.400 carros y 12.000 caballos que llevó a las ciudades de los carros y junto al rey en Jerusalén.	14 Solomon then built up a force of chariots and cavalry; he had one thousand four hundred chariots andtwelve thousand horses; these he kept in the chariot towns and near the king at Jerusalem.
15 Hizo el rey que la plata y el oro fuese tan abundante en Jerusalén como las piedras y los cedros, como los sicómoros de la Tierra Baja.	15 In Jerusalem the king made silver and gold as common as stones, and cedar wood as plentiful assycamore in the lowlands.
16 Los caballos de Salomón procedían de Musur y de Cilicia; los mercaderes del rey los adquirían en Cilicia por su precio en dinero.	16 Solomon's horses were imported from Muzur and Cilicia. The king's dealers acquired them in Cilicia atthe prevailing price.
17 Traían de Egipto un carro por seiscientos siclos de plata, y un caballo por 150. Los traían también como intermediarios para todos los reyes de los hititas y todos los reyes de Aram.	17 A chariot was imported from Egypt for six hundred silver shekels and a horse from Cilicia for ahundred and fifty. They also supplied the Hittite and Aramaean kings, who al used them as middlemen.
18 Decidió, pues, Salomón edificar una Casa al Nombre de Yahveh y una casa real para sí.	18 Solomon then gave the order to build a house for the name of Yahweh and a palace in which to reign.
