1 Salomón, hijo de David, se afianzó en su reino; Yahveh, su Dios, estaba con él y le engrandeció sobremanera.	1 And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.
2 Salomón habló a todo Israel, a los jefes de millar y de cien, a los jueces y a todos los jefes de todo Israel, cabezas de casas paternas.	2 Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.
3 Después Salomón fue con toda la asamblea al alto de Gabaón, porque allí se hallaba la Tienda del Encuentro de Dios, que Moisés, siervo de Yahveh, había hecho en el desierto.	3 So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
4 Cuanto al arca de Dios, David la había llevado de Quiryat Yearim al lugar preparado para ella, pues le había alzado una tienda en Jerusalén.	4 But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath-jearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
5 El altar de bronce que había hecho Besalel, hijo de Urí, hijo de Jur, estaba también allí delante de la Morada de Yahveh. Fueron, pues, Salomón y la asamblea para consultarle.	5 Moreover the brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.
6 Subió Salomón allí, al altar de bronce que estaba ante Yahveh, junto a la Tienda del Encuentro, y ofreció sobre él mil holocaustos.	6 And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.
7 Aquella noche se apareció Dios a Salomón y le dijo: «Pídeme lo que quieras que te dé».	7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
8 Salomón respondió a Dios: «Tú tuviste gran amor a mi padre David, y a mí me has hecho rey en su lugar.	8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
9 Ahora, pues, oh Yahveh Dios, que se cumpla la promesa que hiciste a mi padre David, ya que tú me has hecho rey sobre un pueblo numeroso como el polvo de la tierra.	9 Now , O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
10 Dame, pues, ahora sabiduría e inteligencia, para que sepa conducirme ante este pueblo tuyo tan grande».	10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
11 Respondió Dios a Salomón: «Ya que piensas esto en tu corazón, y no has pedido riquezas ni bienes ni gloria ni la muerte de tus enemigos; ni tampoco has pedido larga vida, sino que has pedido para ti sabiduría e inteligencia para saber juzgar a mi pueblo, del cual te he hecho rey,	11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12 por eso te son dadas la sabiduría y el entendimiento, y además te daré riqueza, bienes y gloria como no las tuvieron los reyes que fueron antes de ti, ni las tendrá ninguno de los que vengan después de ti».	12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
13 Salomón regresó a Jerusalén desde el alto de Gabaón, de delante de la Tienda del Encuentro, y reinó sobre Israel.	13 Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.
14 Salomón reunió carros y caballos, tuvo 1.400 carros y 12.000 caballos que llevó a las ciudades de los carros y junto al rey en Jerusalén.	14 And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
15 Hizo el rey que la plata y el oro fuese tan abundante en Jerusalén como las piedras y los cedros, como los sicómoros de la Tierra Baja.	15 And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the vale for abundance.
16 Los caballos de Salomón procedían de Musur y de Cilicia; los mercaderes del rey los adquirían en Cilicia por su precio en dinero.	16 And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.
17 Traían de Egipto un carro por seiscientos siclos de plata, y un caballo por 150. Los traían también como intermediarios para todos los reyes de los hititas y todos los reyes de Aram.	17 And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.
18 Decidió, pues, Salomón edificar una Casa al Nombre de Yahveh y una casa real para sí.
