1 Il figlio saggio è la consolazione del padre, mentre il figlio stolto è l'afflizione della madre.	1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise child is a father's joy, a foolish child a mother's grief.
2 A nulla gioveranno i tesori male acquistati, ma la giustizia libera dalla morte.	2 Treasures wickedly come by give no benefit, but uprightness brings delivery from death.
3 Il Signore non lascerà deluse le brame del giusto, ma sventerà le insidie degli empi.	3 Yahweh does not let the upright go hungry, but he thwarts the greed of the wicked.
4 La mano pigra produce miseria, ma il braccio operoso accumula ricchezze. Chi s'appoggia a menzogne si pasce di vento, ed è come se corresse dietro a uccelli che volano.	4 A slack hand brings poverty, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.
5 Chi fa le sue provvisioni al tempo della messe è saggio figliolo; chi poltrisce nell'estate si fa disonore.	5 Reaping at harvest-time is the mark of the prudent, sleeping at harvest-time is the sign of theworthless.
6 Sopra il capo elei giusti scendono le benedizioni del Signore, ma l'iniquità ricopre la faccia degli empi.	6 Blessings are on the head of the upright, but the mouth of the godless is a cover for violence.
7 La memoria del giusto è benedetta, invece marcirà il nome degli empi.	7 The upright is remembered with blessings, the name of the wicked rots away.
8 L'uomo saggio accetta gli avvertimenti, ma lo stolto è flagellato dai labbri.	8 The wise of heart takes orders, but a gabbling fool heads for ruin.
9 Chi procede con rettitudine va sicuro, ma chi prendo vie perverse sarà scoperto.	9 Anyone whose ways are honourable walks secure, but whoever fol ows crooked ways is soonunmasked.
10 Chi strizza l'occhio farà del male, e lo stolto sarà flagellato dalle labbra.	10 A wink of the eye brings trouble, a bold rebuke brings peace.
11 Sorgente di vita è la bocca del giusto, ma la bocca degli empi racchiude iniquità.	11 The mouth of the upright is a life-giving fountain, but the mouth of the godless is a cover for violence.
12 L'odio eccita le contese: la carità ricopre tutti i peccati.	12 Hatred provokes disputes, but love excuses al offences.
13 Sulle labbra del saggio si trova la sapienza, e la verga sul dorso di chi non ha giudizio.	13 On the lips of the discerning is found wisdom, on the back of a fool, the stick.
14 I saggi nascondono il loro sapere, la bocca dello stolto è vicina alla confusione.	14 Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool makes ruin imminent.
15 I beni del ricco sono la sua città forte, la paura dei poveri viene dalla loro miseria.	15 The wealth of the rich is their stronghold, poverty is the undoing of the weak.
16 Il lavoro del giusto è per la vita, i guadagni dell'empio vanno nel peccato.	16 The wage of the upright affords life, but sin is al the wicked earns.
17 Chi tien conto della disciplina, è nella via della vita, chi non cura la correzione è fuori di strada.	17 Whoever abides by discipline, walks towards life, whoever ignores correction goes astray.
18 Le labbra bugiarde nascondono l'odio, chi dice contumelie è un insensato.	18 Liars' lips are a cover for hatred, whoever utters slander is a fool.
19 Nel molto parlare non roancherà il peccato, ma chi sa frenare le sue labbra ha somma prudenza.	19 A flood of words is never without fault; whoever controls the lips is wise.
20 La lingua del giusto è come argento fino, ma il cuore degli empi non vai niente.	20 The tongue of the upright is purest silver, the heart of the wicked is of trumpery value.
21 Le labbra del giusto istruiscono moltissimi; chi non ha ricevuto istruzione morirà por mancanza di giudizio.	21 The lips of the upright nourish many peoples, but fools die for want of sense.
22 La benedizione di Dio è quella che fa ricchi, e non avrà per compagno l'afflizione.	22 The blessing of Yahweh is what brings riches, to this, hard toil has nothing to add.
23 Come per gioco lo stolto fa i delitti, ma la sapienza dell'uomo è la prudenza.	23 A fool takes pleasure in doing wrong, the intel igent in cultivating wisdom.
24 Cadrà addosso all'empio ciò che egli paventa; ai giusti sarà dato quello che desiderano.	24 What the wicked fears overtakes him, what the upright desires comes to him as a present.
25 Come tempesta che passa sparirà l'empio, ma il giusto resterà come base eterna.	25 When the storm is over, the wicked is no more, but the upright stands firm for ever.
26 Come l'aceto ai denti e il fumo agli occhi, cosi il pigro per quelli che lo hanno mandato.	26 As vinegar to the teeth, smoke to the eyes, so the sluggard to the one who sends him.
27 Il timore del Signore allunga la vita, ma gli anni degli empi saranno accorciati.	27 The fear of Yahweh adds length to life, the years of the wicked wil be cut short.
28 L'attesa dei giusti unirà nella gioia, ma la speranza degli empi andrà in fumo.	28 The hope of the upright is joy, the expectations of the wicked come to nothing.
29 La via del Signore è la forza del semplice e lo spavento dei malfattori.	29 The way of Yahweh is a rampart for the honest, for evil-doers nothing but ruin.
30 Il giusto non vacillerà in eterno, ma gli empi non dimoreranno nel paese.	30 The upright wil never have to give way, but the land wil offer no home for the wicked.
31 La bocca del giusto darà sapienza, la lingua dei malvagi sarà estirpata.	31 The mouth of the upright utters wisdom, the tongue that deceives wil be cut off.
32 Le labbra del giusto considerano cose gradite, e la bocca degli empi le cose perverse.	32 The lips of the upright know about kindness, the mouth of the wicked about deceit.
