Salmi 72

1 (Salmo di Asai). Quanto è buono Dio con Israele, con quelli che son retti di cuore!	1 A Psalm of Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to those who are upright in heart.
2 Ma poco mancò che i miei piedi non vacillassero, che i miei passi non uscissero fuori di strada;	2 But my feet were nearly moved; my steps had nearly slipped.
3 perchè mi adirai a causa degli iniqui, vedendo la pace dei peccatori.	3 For I was zealous over the iniquitous, seeing the peacefulness of sinners.
4 Essi non pensano alla loro morte, le loro piaghe son di corta durata.	4 For they have no respect for their death, nor do they have support in their wounds.
5 Non han la loro parte negli affanni umani, e non son colpiti come il resto degli uomini.	5 They are not with the hardships of men, nor will they be scourged with men.
6 Per questo li prese la superbia, e si son coperti d'iniquità e d'empietà.	6 Therefore, arrogance has held on to them. They have been covered with their iniquity and impiety.
7 L'iniquità par che venga fuori dal loro grasso; si sono abbandonati alle passioni del cuore.	7 Their iniquity has proceeded, as if from fat. They have parted from the affection of the heart.
8 Pensano e parlano perversamente, altezzosamente ragionano di far del male.	8 They have thought and spoken wickedness. They have spoken iniquity in high places.
9 Hanno messa la loro bocca contro il cielo e la loro lingua percorre la terra.	9 They have set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue has traversed the earth.
10 Ecco perchè il mio popolo si rivolge da questa parte: in loro si trovano giorni d'abbondanza.	10 Therefore, my people will be converted here, and fullness of days will be found in them.
11 E dicono: « Come lo sa Dio? C'è forse la scienza nell'Altissimo? »	11 And they said, “How would God know?” and, “Isn’t there knowledge in high places?”
12 Ecco come sono gli empi: pieni d'abbondanza nel mondo, hanno ammassate ricchezze.	12 Behold, these are sinners, and, abounding in this age, they have obtained riches.
13 Ed io dissi: « Dunque invano ho purificato il mio cuore, ho lavate tra gli innocenti le mie mani:	13 And I said: So then, it is without purpose that I have justified my heart and washed my hands among the innocent.
14 «Sono flagellato tutto il giorno, e il mio castigo è lì ogni mattino ».	14 And I have been scourged all day long, and I have received my chastisement in the mornings.
15 Se io avessi detto: «Parlerò così », ecco riproverei la nazione dei tuoi figli.	15 If I were to say that I would explain this: Behold, I would condemn this nation of your sons.
16 Credevo di poter conoscere questa cosa, ma l'affanno mi stette dinanzi.	16 I considered, so that I might know this. It is a hardship before me,
17 Finché non entrai nel santuario di Dio e compresi quale sia la loro fine:	17 until I may enter into the Sanctuary of God, and understand it to its last part.
18 In verità li hai messi vicini agl'inganni, li abbatti mentre si i levano in alto.	18 So, because of deceitfulness, truly, you have placed it before them. While they were being lifted up, you were casting them down.
19 Come son caduti in desolazione! Sono svaniti in un momento, son periti per la loro iniquità.	19 How have they been brought to desolation? They have suddenly failed. They have perished because of their iniquity.
20 Come il sogno di chi si sveglia, o Signore, riduci a niente nella a tua città il loro fantasma.	20 As a dream is to those who awaken, O Lord, so will you reduce their image to nothing in your city.
21 Il mio cuore era infiammato, i miei reni erano alterati	21 For my heart has been inflamed, and my temperament has been changed.
22 Ero ridotto un niente e non i capivo:	22 And so, I have been reduced to nothing, and I did not know it.
23 Dinanzi a te ero diventato come un giumento. Ma sarò sempre con te.	23 I have become like a beast of burden to you, and I am always with you.
24 Mi prendi per la mano destra, mi conduci a tuo beneplacito, mi accoglierai con onore.	24 You have held my right hand. And in your will, you have conducted me, and with your glory, you have taken me up.
25 Che c'è per me in cielo? E che desidero da te sopra la terra?	25 For what is there for me in heaven? And what do I wish for on earth before you?
26 La mia carne vien meno, e così il mio cuore: il Dio del mio cuore, la mia parte è Dio in eterno.	26 My body has failed, and my heart: O God of my heart, and God my portion, into eternity.
27 Ecco, quelli che si allontanano da te periranno: tu mandi in perdizione tutti quelli che non ti rimangono fedeli.	27 For behold, those who put themselves far from you will perish. You have perished all those who fornicate away from you.
28 Per me è la mia felicità stare unito con Dio e porre nel Signore Dio la mia speranza, per annunziare tutte le tue lodi dentro le porte della figlia di Sion.	28 But it is good for me to adhere to God, to put my hope in the Lord God, so that I may announce all your prophecies, at the gates of the daughter of Zion.
