1 Allora quei tre personaggi cessarono di replicare a Giobbe, perché egli si riteneva giusto.	1 Then the three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
2 Ma Eliu, figlio di Barachele il buzita, del clan di Ram, si mise in collera contro Giobbe. Il suo sdegno si accese, perché questi pretendeva di aver ragione contro Dio.	2 But the anger of Elihu, son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was kindled. He was angry with Job for considering himself rather than God to be in the right.
3 Si mise in collera anche contro i suoi tre amici, perché non avendo dato risposta, avevano riconosciuto Dio colpevole.	3 He was angry also with the three friends because they had not found a good answer and had not condemned Job.
4 Ora Eliu aveva atteso, mentre essi parlavano con Giobbe, perché essi erano più anziani di lui;	4 But since these men were older than he, Elihu bided his time before addressing Job.
5 però quando Eliu vide che non c'era più risposta sulla bocca di questi tre uomini, si mise in collera.	5 When, however, Elihu saw that there was no reply in the mouths of the three men, his wrath was inflamed.
6 Prese quindi la parola Eliu, figlio di Barachele il buzita, e disse: "Io sono ancor giovane e voi anziani; per questo ho esitato e temuto di esporvi la mia opinione.	6 So Elihu, son of Barachel the Buzite, spoke out and said: I am young and you are very old; therefore I held back and was afraid to declare to you my knowledge.
7 Pensavo: "Parleranno gli anni, e l'età avanzata insegnerà la sapienza".	7 Days should speak, I thought, and many years teach wisdom!
8 Però nell'uomo c'è uno spirito, il soffio dell'Onnipotente, che rende intelligente.	8 But it is a spirit in man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding.
9 Non sono i molti anni a dare la sapienza, né per essere anziano uno sa giudicare.	9 It is not those of many days who are wise, nor the aged who understand the right.
10 Perciò oso dire: "Ascoltatemi, esporrò anch'io la mia opinione".	10 Therefore I say, hearken to me; let me too set forth my knowledge!
11 Ecco, contavo sui vostri discorsi; ho prestato attenzione ai vostri argomenti, finché ricercavate delle risposte.	11 Behold, I have waited for your discourses, and have given ear to your arguments.
12 Per quanto ascoltassi con attenzione, nessuno di voi fu capace di criticare Giobbe, di rispondere alle sue parole.	12 Yes, I followed you attentively as you searched out what to say; And behold, there is none who has convicted Job, not one of you who could refute his statements.
13 Non dite dunque: "Noi abbiamo trovato la sapienza, solo Dio la può confutare, non un uomo".	13 Yet do not say, "We have met wisdom. God may vanquish him but not man!"
14 Giobbe non ha rivolto a me le sue parole, e non risponderò con i vostri ragionamenti.	14 For had he addressed his words to me, I should not then have answered him as you have done.
15 Essi, sconcertati, non rispondono più, mancano loro le parole.	15 They are dismayed, they make no more reply; words fail them.
16 Debbo ancora attendere, dato che non parlano, poiché stanno lì senza rispondere?	16 Must I wait? Now that they speak no more, and have ceased to make reply,
17 Replicherò anch'io per la mia parte, esporrò anch'io ciò che so.	17 I too will speak my part; I also will show my knowledge!
18 Perché sono pieno di cose da dire; mi preme lo spirito che è dentro di me.	18 For I am full of matters to utter; the spirit within me compels me.
19 Ecco, dentro di me c'è come un vino che non ha sfogo, come degli otri nuovi che scoppiano.	19 Like a new wineskin with wine under pressure, my bosom is ready to burst.
20 Parlerò dunque e ne avrò sollievo, aprirò la bocca e risponderò.	20 Let me speak and obtain relief; let me open my lips, and make reply.
21 Non guarderò in faccia a nessuno, non adulerò nessuno,	21 I would not be partial to anyone, nor give flattering titles to any.
22 perché non so adulare; altrimenti il mio Creatore in breve mi eliminerebbe.	22 For I know nought of flattery; if I did, my Maker would soon take me away.
