1 And David said in his heart, "I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul; there is nothing better for me than that I should escape to the land of the Philistines; then Saul will despair of seeking me any longer within the borders of Israel, and I shall escape out of his hand."	1 E David disse nel suo cuore: io cadrò, qualche volta, nelle mani di Saul; non è meglio ch' io fugga, e salvimi nella terra de' Filistei, acciò che Saul si disperi, e cessi di cercarmi in tutti i confini d' Israel? Ora fuggiamo dalle sue mani.
2 So David arose and went over, he and the six hundred men who were with him, to Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath.	2 E levossi David; e con secento uomini, i quali erano con esso lui, se n' andò ad Achis figliuolo di Maoc, re di Get.
3 And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, and David with his two wives, Ahino-am of Jezreel, and Abigail of Carmel, Nabal's widow.	3 E abitò David con Achis in Get, egli e gli uomini suoi e la casa sua; David e due sue mogli, Achinoa di Iezrael, e Abigail moglie di Nabal di Carmelo.
4 And when it was told Saul that David had fled to Gath, he sought for him no more.	4 E fu significato a Saul, che David era fuggito in Get; e non l' andò più cercando.
5 Then David said to Achish, "If I have found favor in your eyes, let a place be given me in one of the country towns, that I may dwell there; for why should your servant dwell in the royal city with you?"	5 E David disse ad Achis: se io ho trovato grazia negli occhii tuoi, siami dato luogo in una delle cittadi di questa provincia, nella quale io abiti: perchè istà egli il tuo servo, nella città del con teco?
6 So that day Achish gave him Ziklag; therefore Ziklag has belonged to the kings of Judah to this day.	6 Onde, in quello dì, Achis gli diede Siceleg; per la quale (cosa e) cagione Siceleg si è dei re di Giuda, insino al dì d'oggi.
7 And the number of the days that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a year and four months.	7 E il numero de' dì, che David abitò in Siceleg, terra de' Filistei, si fu quattro mesi.
8 Now David and his men went up, and made raids upon the Geshurites, the Girzites, and the Amalekites; for these were the inhabitants of the land from of old, as far as Shur, to the land of Egypt.	8 E ascendeo David, e gli uomini suoi, e menava la preda di Gessuri e di Gerzi e degli Amaleciti; però che costoro anticamente abitavano pagi nella terra, andanti per Sur insino alla terra d'Egitto.
9 And David smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, but took away the sheep, the oxen, the asses, the camels, and the garments, and came back to Achish.	9 E feria David tutta la terra, e non lasciava vivo (David) uomo nè femina, tollendo buoi e pecore, asini e camelli e vestimenta; e poi ne tornava, e andàvasene ad Achis.
10 When Achish asked, "Against whom have you made a raid today?" David would say, "Against the Negeb of Judah," or "Against the Negeb of the Jerahmeelites," or, "Against the Negeb of the Kenites."	10 E Achis diceva a lui: dove cavalcasti oggi? E David respondea: verso il mezzo giorno di Giuda, e verso il mezzo giorno di Gerameel, e verso il mezzo giorno di Ceni.
11 And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring tidings to Gath, thinking, "Lest they should tell about us, and say, So David has done.'" Such was his custom all the while he dwelt in the country of the Philistines.	11 Nè uomo nè femina non lasciava vivo David, e non lo menava in Get, dicendo: forse che direbbe incontro a noi questo facea David. E questo era suo ordinamento, tutto il tempo che abitò nelle terre de' Filistei.
12 And Achish trusted David, thinking, "He has made himself utterly abhorred by his people Israel; therefore he shall be my servant always."	12 Onde Achis credette a David, e dicea: molto male ha fatto contro il popolo suo Israel; e però egli sarà a me servo in sempiterno.
