1 And David said in his heart, "I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul; there is nothing better for me than that I should escape to the land of the Philistines; then Saul will despair of seeking me any longer within the borders of Israel, and I shall escape out of his hand."	1 - Disse poi Davide in cuor suo: «Una volta o l'altra finirò per cadere nelle mani di Saul. Non è forse meglio che me ne fugga e mi ponga in salvo nel territorio dei Filistei, affinchè Saul, perduta ogni speranza, cessi dal cercarmi entro i confini d'Israele? Fuggirò dunque dalle sue mani».
2 So David arose and went over, he and the six hundred men who were with him, to Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath.	2 Elevatosi Davide se ne andò coi suoi seicento uomini ad Achis figlio di Maoc, re di Get.
3 And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, and David with his two wives, Ahino-am of Jezreel, and Abigail of Carmel, Nabal's widow.	3 Davide dimorò con Achis in Get, egli e i suoi, ciascuno colla sua famiglia e Davide colle sue due mogli Achinoam di Jezrael e Abigail che fu moglie di Nabal, del Carmelo.
4 And when it was told Saul that David had fled to Gath, he sought for him no more.	4 A Saul venne riferito della fuga di Davide in Get, e cessò quindi dal farne ulteriore ricerca.
5 Then David said to Achish, "If I have found favor in your eyes, let a place be given me in one of the country towns, that I may dwell there; for why should your servant dwell in the royal city with you?"	5 Frattanto disse Davide ad Achis: «Se ho trovato grazia a' tuoi occhi mi si assegni un luogo in una delle città di questa regione per dimorarvi. Per qual motivo resterà teco il tuo servo nella città reale?».
6 So that day Achish gave him Ziklag; therefore Ziklag has belonged to the kings of Judah to this day.	6 Achis assegnò in quel giorno a Davide la città di Siceleg, e perciò Siceleg divenne la città dei re di Giuda e lo è fino ad ora.
7 And the number of the days that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a year and four months.	7 Il tempo che Davide abitò nella regione dei Filistei fu di quattro mesi.
8 Now David and his men went up, and made raids upon the Geshurites, the Girzites, and the Amalekites; for these were the inhabitants of the land from of old, as far as Shur, to the land of Egypt.	8 Davide saliva coi suoi a fare scorrerie contro Gessuri, Gerzi e gli Amaleciti, i quali da gran tempo abitavano i villaggi sulla via che da Sur va in Egitto.
9 And David smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, but took away the sheep, the oxen, the asses, the camels, and the garments, and came back to Achish.	9 E Davide devastava l'intero paese e senza lasciar vivi nè uomini nè donne depredava pecore, buoi, asini, cammelli e vesti; poi ritornava e si presentava ad Achis.
10 When Achish asked, "Against whom have you made a raid today?" David would say, "Against the Negeb of Judah," or "Against the Negeb of the Jerahmeelites," or, "Against the Negeb of the Kenites."	10 Achis gli domandava: «Contro chi hai fatto oggi le tue scorrerie?». Davide rispondeva: «A mezzogiorno di Giuda e a mezzogiorno di Jerameel, e a mezzogiorno di Ceni».
11 And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring tidings to Gath, thinking, "Lest they should tell about us, and say, So David has done.'" Such was his custom all the while he dwelt in the country of the Philistines.	11 Davide poi non lasciava vivo nè uomo nè donna e non ne conduceva in Get, dicendo: «Potrebbero parlare contro di noi». Così operava Davide e così aveva stabilito di fare in tutto quel tempo che abitò nel territorio dei Filistei.
12 And Achish trusted David, thinking, "He has made himself utterly abhorred by his people Israel; therefore he shall be my servant always."	12 Achis poi aveva grande fiducia in Davide e diceva: «Egli ha recato al suo popolo d'Israele tanti mali; sarà dunque per sempre mio servo».
