Joshua 14

1 And these are the inheritances which the people of Israel received in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers' houses of the tribes of the people of Israel distributed to them.	1 Esta es la heredad que recibieron los hijos de Israel en la tierra de Canaán, heredad que les repartieron el sacerdote Eleazar y Josué, hijo de Nun, y los cabezas de familia de las tribus de Israel.
2 Their inheritance was by lot, as the LORD had commanded Moses for the nine and one-half tribes.	2 El reparto a las nueve tribus y media se hizo a suertes, como el Señor había dispuesto por medio de Moisés.
3 For Moses had given an inheritance to the two and one-half tribes beyond the Jordan; but to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.	3 Porque Moisés había asignado ya su heredad a las dos tribus y media de Transjordania, sin dar a los levitas ninguna heredad entre ellas.
4 For the people of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim; and no portion was given to the Levites in the land, but only cities to dwell in, with their pasture lands for their cattle and their substance.	4 (Los hijos de José vinieron a formar dos tribus: Manasés y Efraín). A los levitas no se les dio ninguna parte en el territorio sino solo ciudades donde residir, con los pastos correspondientes para los ganados y rebaños.
5 The people of Israel did as the LORD commanded Moses; they allotted the land.	5 Los hijos de Israel hicieron el reparto de la tierra como el Señor había mandado a Moisés.
6 Then the people of Judah came to Joshua at Gilgal; and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, "You know what the LORD said to Moses the man of God in Kadesh-barnea concerning you and me.	6 Los hijos de Judá se presentaron a Josué en Guilgal. Y Caleb, hijo de Jefuné el queniceo, le dijo: «Ya sabes el encargo que hizo el Señor a Moisés, el hombre de Dios, acerca de ti y de mí en Cadés Barnea.
7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in my heart.	7 Cuarenta años tenía yo cuando Moisés, siervo del Señor, me envió desde Cadés Barnea a reconocer esta tierra y yo le di mi informe con toda sinceridad.
8 But my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; yet I wholly followed the LORD my God.	8 Los hermanos que habían subido conmigo desanimaron al pueblo, pero yo me mantuve fiel al Señor, mi Dios.
9 And Moses swore on that day, saying, 'Surely the land on which your foot has trodden shall be an inheritance for you and your children for ever, because you have wholly followed the LORD my God.'	9 Aquel día Moisés me hizo este juramento: “Te juro que la tierra que han pisado tus pies será heredad tuya y de tus hijos para siempre, porque has sido fiel al Señor, mi Dios”.
10 And now, behold, the LORD has kept me alive, as he said, these forty-five years since the time that the LORD spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness; and now, lo, I am this day eighty-five years old.	10 Pues bien, mira cómo el Señor me ha conservado la vida, según me lo prometió. Hace ya cuarenta y cinco años que el Señor le dio ese encargo a Moisés, cuando Israel andaba por el desierto, y ahora tengo ochenta y cinco años.
11 I am still as strong to this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me; my strength now is as my strength was then, for war, and for going and coming.	11 Todavía estoy tan fuerte como el día en que me envió Moisés. Conservo todo mi vigor de entonces para combatir y para hacer lo que sea.
12 So now give me this hill country of which the LORD spoke on that day; for you heard on that day how the Anakim were there, with great fortified cities: it may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall drive them out as the LORD said."	12 Dame, pues, ya esa montaña que me prometió el Señor aquel día. Tú oíste aquel día cómo hay en ella anaquitas y ciudades grandes y fortificadas. Que el Señor esté conmigo y yo los expulsaré, como él me lo prometió».
13 Then Joshua blessed him; and he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.	13 Josué bendijo a Caleb, hijo de Jefuné, y le dio Hebrón en heredad.
14 So Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the LORD, the God of Israel.	14 Por eso Hebrón sigue siendo hasta el día de hoy heredad de Caleb, hijo de Jefuné el queniceo, por haber sido fiel al Señor, Dios de Israel.
15 Now the name of Hebron formerly was Kiriath-arba; this Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim. And the land had rest from war.	15 Hebrón se llamaba antiguamente Quiriat Arbá. Arbá era el hombre más alto de los anaquitas. Y, acabada la guerra, el país quedó en paz.
