1 And when they drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,	1 Comme déjà ils arrivent à Bethphagé et Béthanie, près du mont des Oliviers, et qu’ils sont proches de Jérusalem,
2 and said to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat; untie it and bring it.	2 Jésus envoie deux de ses disciples et leur dit: "Allez jusqu’au village d’en face; juste à l’entrée, vous trouverez un ânon attaché, sur lequel personne n’est encore monté. Détachez-le et amenez-le.
3 If any one says to you, 'Why are you doing this?' say, 'The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.'"	3 Si quelqu’un vous dit: ‘Pourquoi faites-vous cela?’ vous répondrez: ‘Le Seigneur en a besoin’, et aussitôt après il le renverra.”
4 And they went away, and found a colt tied at the door out in the open street; and they untied it.	4 Ils s’en vont donc et trouvent dans la rue un ânon attaché près d’une porte; ils le détachent.
5 And those who stood there said to them, "What are you doing, untying the colt?"	5 Des gens qui sont là leur disent: "Pourquoi détachez-vous l’ânon?”
6 And they told them what Jesus had said; and they let them go.	6 Ils leur répondent comme Jésus l’a dit et on les laisse faire.
7 And they brought the colt to Jesus, and threw their garments on it; and he sat upon it.	7 Ils amènent l’ânon à Jésus; ils jettent sur lui leurs manteaux et Jésus s’assoit dessus.
8 And many spread their garments on the road, and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields.	8 Beaucoup étendent leurs manteaux sur le chemin, et d’autres des feuillages qu’ils ont coupés dans les champs.
9 And those who went before and those who followed cried out, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!	9 Ceux qui vont devant et ceux qui suivent lancent des acclamations: "Hosanna! Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur!
10 Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is coming! Hosanna in the highest!"	10 Béni soit le Royaume qui vient, le règne de David, notre père! Hosanna dans les hauteurs du ciel!”
11 And he entered Jerusalem, and went into the temple; and when he had looked round at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.	11 Jésus entra dans Jérusalem, et jusque dans le Temple où il inspecta tout du regard. Il était déjà tard lorsqu’il repartit avec les Douze en direction de Béthanie.
12 On the following day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry.	12 Le lendemain, comme on sortait de Béthanie, Jésus eut faim.
13 And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.	13 Voyant de loin un figuier couvert de feuilles, il s’approcha pour voir s’il y trouverait quelque chose. Mais en s’approchant il ne trouva rien; il n’y avait que des feuilles, car ce n’était pas la saison des figues.
14 And he said to it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard it.	14 Jésus dit alors au figuier: "Que personne jamais plus ne mange de ton fruit!” Et ses disciples l’entendirent.
15 And they came to Jerusalem. And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons;	15 Ils arrivèrent à Jérusalem. Jésus entra dans le Temple et commença à jeter dehors tous ceux qui vendaient et achetaient dans le Temple. Il retourna les tables des changeurs de monnaie et les sièges des vendeurs de colombes;
16 and he would not allow any one to carry anything through the temple.	16 il ne permettait pas qu’on transporte des paquets à travers les parvis du Temple.
17 And he taught, and said to them, "Is it not written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations? But you have made it a den of robbers."	17 Jésus leur fit la leçon: "N’est-il pas écrit: Ma maison sera appelée Maison de Prière pour toutes les nations? Et vous, vous en avez fait une caverne de voleurs.”
18 And the chief priests and the scribes heard it and sought a way to destroy him; for they feared him, because all the multitude was astonished at his teaching.	18 Les chefs des prêtres et les maîtres de la Loi en furent informés, et dès lors ils voulaient sa perte. Ils le redoutaient, car tout le monde était impressionné par son enseignement.
19 And when evening came they went out of the city.	19 Quand arrivait le soir, ils sortaient de la ville.
20 As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots.	20 Au matin, en repassant, ils voient le figuier desséché jusqu’aux racines.
21 And Peter remembered and said to him, "Master, look! The fig tree which you cursed has withered."	21 Pierre alors se rappelle, et il dit à Jésus: "Rabbi, regarde! Le figuier que tu as maudit est tout desséché.”
22 And Jesus answered them, "Have faith in God.	22 Jésus répond: - Ayez foi en Dieu!
23 Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.	23 En vérité, je vous le dis, si quelqu’un dit à cette montagne: ‘Enlève-toi et jette-toi dans la mer!’ il ne faut pas qu’il hésite. S’il croit de tout son cœur que ce qu’il dit va se faire, eh bien oui, il l’aura.
24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.	24 Aussi je vous dis: Tout ce que vous demandez dans la prière, croyez que vous l’avez reçu et vous le recevrez.
25 And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against any one; so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses."	25 “Quand vous êtes en train de prier, si vous avez quelque chose contre quelqu’un, pardonnez; et votre Père qui est dans les cieux vous pardonnera aussi vos fautes.”

27 And they came again to Jerusalem. And as he was walking in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to him,	27 Ils revinrent à Jérusalem. Tandis qu’ils allaient et venaient dans le Temple, les chefs des prêtres, les maîtres de la Loi et les Anciens vinrent à lui
28 and they said to him, "By what authority are you doing these things, or who gave you this authority to do them?"	28 et lui dirent: "De quelle autorité fais-tu cela? Qui t’a chargé de le faire?”
29 Jesus said to them, "I will ask you a question; answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.	29 Jésus leur répond: "Je vous poserai une question, une seule. Répondez-moi et je vous dirai de quelle autorité je fais cela:
30 Was the baptism of John from heaven or from men? Answer me."	30 Le baptême de Jean, était-ce une initiative du Ciel, ou simplement humaine? Répondez-moi.”
31 And they argued with one another, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say, 'Why then did you not believe him?'	31 Les autres commencent à se dire: "Si nous répondons que cela venait du Ciel, il nous dira: ‘Pourquoi n’avez-vous pas cru en lui?’
32 But shall we say, 'From men'?"--they were afraid of the people, for all held that John was a real prophet.	32 Mais comment dire que c’était chose humaine?” Ils ne le pouvaient par crainte du peuple, car tous considéraient Jean comme un vrai prophète.
33 So they answered Jesus, "We do not know." And Jesus said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things."	33 Aussi répondent-ils à Jésus: "Nous ne savons pas.” Et Jésus leur dit: "Je ne vous dirai pas non plus de quel droit je fais tout cela.”
