1 And when they drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,	1 E appressandosi a Ierosolima e a Betania, circa il monte Oliveto, mandò due de' discepoli suoi.
2 and said to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat; untie it and bring it.	2 E dissegli: andate nel castello ch' è contro di voi, e incontanente che sarete entrati, troverete il poledro dell' asina alligato, sopra il quale ancora nullo degli uomini è seduto; scioglietelo, e menatelo.
3 If any one says to you, 'Why are you doing this?' say, 'The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.'"	3 E se alcuno dirà: che facete? dite come egli bisogna al Signore; e incontinente egli mandarà quello quivi.
4 And they went away, and found a colt tied at the door out in the open street; and they untied it.	4 E loro andando, trovorono il poledro ligato di fuori dinanzi alla porta nelle due vie; e scioglierono quello.
5 And those who stood there said to them, "What are you doing, untying the colt?"	5 Onde alcuni di coloro che ivi stavano, dicevanli che fate voi sciogliendo il poledro?
6 And they told them what Jesus had said; and they let them go.	6 E loro gli dissero, come gli avea comandato Iesù; e coloro lasciorono quelli, che il tollessero.
7 And they brought the colt to Jesus, and threw their garments on it; and he sat upon it.	7 E loro menorono il poledro a Iesù, e posero sopra quello le loro vestimenta; ed egli sedette sopra quello.
8 And many spread their garments on the road, and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields.	8 Di che molti gittorono estendendo le sue vestimenta nella via; alcuni tagliavano li rami delli arbóri, e gittavanli per terra nella via.
9 And those who went before and those who followed cried out, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!	9 E coloro che gli andavano inanzi, e coloro che seguitavano, gridavano dicendo: salvaci,
10 Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is coming! Hosanna in the highest!"	10 tu che vieni nel nome del Signore; benedetto è il regno, che ormai è venuto, del padre nostro David; salvaci ne' luoghi eccelsi.
11 And he entered Jerusalem, and went into the temple; and when he had looked round at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.	11 Ed egli entrò in Ierusalem nel tempio; ed essendo già l'ora del vespero, guardando a tutti, andò in Betania con li dodici discepoli.
12 On the following day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry.	12 E l'altro giorno, uscendo loro di Betania, egli ebbe fame.
13 And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.	13 E vedendo dalla lunga uno fico avente le foglie, venne, se forse troverebbe alcuna cosa in esso; ed essendo venuto a quello, non ritrovò altro che le foglie; imperò che non era il tempo delle fiche..
14 And he said to it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard it.	14 E Iesù disse: già e non più alcuno manducarà di te frutto in eterno. E gli suoi discepoli udivano.
15 And they came to Jerusalem. And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons;	15 E vennero in Ierosolima; ed entrato nel tempio, incominciò a cacciare li compranti e vendenti nel tempio; e riversò le mense de' banchieri, e le cattedre de' vendenti le colombe.
16 and he would not allow any one to carry anything through the temple.	16 E non permetteva che alcuno trasferisse il vase del tempio.
17 And he taught, and said to them, "Is it not written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations? But you have made it a den of robbers."	17 E ammaestrava, dicendo a quelli: or non è scritto, come la mia casa chiamerassi casa di orazione a tutte le genti? Ma voi l'avete fatta spelonca di ladroni.
18 And the chief priests and the scribes heard it and sought a way to destroy him; for they feared him, because all the multitude was astonished at his teaching.	18 La quale cosa udita ch' ebbe il principe de' sacerdoti e li Scribi, cercavano come il potevano uccidere; ma loro il temevano, imperò che tutta la turba si maravigliava sopra la sua dottrina.
19 And when evening came they went out of the city.	19 Ed essendo fatto il vespero, usciva fuori della città.
20 As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots.	20 E poscia la mattina, passando, viddero lo fico essere seccato insino alla radice,
21 And Peter remembered and said to him, "Master, look! The fig tree which you cursed has withered."	21 E ricordandosi Pietro, disse a lui: maestro, ecco ch' egli è seccata la ficaia, la quale maledicesti.
22 And Jesus answered them, "Have faith in God.	22 E rispondendo Iesù, disse a quelli: abbiate la fede di Dio.
23 Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.	23 In verità vi dico, che qualunque dirà a questo monte: lèvati e poniti nel mare, e non dubitarà nel suo cuore, ma crederà, tutto quello egli dirà che sia fatto, sarà fatto a lui.
24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.	24 Imperò io vi dico: tutto quello che orando. addimandarete, crediate che voi riceverete, e a voi verrà.
25 And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against any one; so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses."	25 E quando voi farete orazione, perdonate se voi avete alcuna cosa contro alcuno, acciò che etiam il vostro Padre, ch' è in cielo, a voi perdoni li vostri debiti.
26 .	26 E se voi non perdonarete, nè etiam il Padre vostro, il quale è in cielo, a voi perdonarà li vostri peccati.
27 And they came again to Jerusalem. And as he was walking in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to him,	27 E un' altra fiata loro vennero a Ierosolima; e andando nel tempio, a lui vennero li sommi sacerdoti, e li Scribi e li antiqui.
28 and they said to him, "By what authority are you doing these things, or who gave you this authority to do them?"	28 E dissongli: con quale possanza fai queste tali cose? e chi ti ha dato questa autorità, che facci queste cose?
29 Jesus said to them, "I will ask you a question; answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.	29 E rispondendo Iesù, dissegli: io etiam vi addimanderò una parola, e voi mi rispondiate; e poscia dirovvi in quale possanza faccio queste cose.
30 Was the baptism of John from heaven or from men? Answer me."	30 Respondetemi: il battesimo di Ioanne era. egli venuto dal cielo, ovvero dalli uomini?
31 And they argued with one another, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say, 'Why then did you not believe him?'	31 Ma quelli pensavano, dicendo: se noi diremo ch' egli è venuto dal cielo, egli a noi dirà: il perchè adunque non gli avete creduto?
32 But shall we say, 'From men'?"--they were afraid of the people, for all held that John was a real prophet.	32 E se diremo ch' egli è dalli uomini, temiamo il popolo; imperò che tutti tenevano che Ioanne fusse veramente profeta.
33 So they answered Jesus, "We do not know." And Jesus said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things."	33 Onde risposero, dicendo: non sappiamo. E Iesù a loro rispose: e io etiam non vi dirò, con quale potestà faccio io queste cose.
