Sirach 24

1 Wisdom will praise herself, and will glory in the midst of her people.	1 La sabiduría hace su propia alabanza, | encuentra su honor en Dios | y se gloría en medio de su pueblo.
2 In the assembly of the Most High she will open her mouth, and in the presence of his host she will glory:	2 En la asamblea del Altísimo abre su boca | y se gloría ante el Poderoso.
3 "I came forth from the mouth of the Most High, and covered the earth like a mist.	3 «Yo salí de la boca del Altísimo, | y como niebla cubrí la tierra.
4 I dwelt in high places, and my throne was in a pillar of cloud.	4 Puse mi tienda en las alturas, | y mi trono era una columna de nube.
5 Alone I have made the circuit of the vault of heaven and have walked in the depths of the abyss.	5 Sola recorrí la bóveda del cielo | y me paseé por la profundidad del abismo.
6 In the waves of the sea, in the whole earth, and in every people and nation I have gotten a possession.	6 Goberné sobre las olas del mar y sobre toda la tierra, | sobre todos los pueblos y naciones.
7 Among all these I sought a resting place; I sought in whose territory I might lodge.	7 En todos ellos busqué un lugar de descanso | y una heredad donde establecerme.
8 Then the Creator of all things gave me a commandment, and the one who created me assigned a place for my tent. And he said, 'Make your dwelling in Jacob, and in Israel receive your inheritance.'	8 Entonces el Creador del universo me dio una orden, | el que me había creado estableció mi morada | y me dijo: “Pon tu tienda en Jacob, | y fija tu heredad en Israel”.
9 From eternity, in the beginning, he created me, and for eternity I shall not cease to exist.	9 Desde el principio, antes de los siglos, me creó, | y nunca jamás dejaré de existir.
10 In the holy tabernacle I ministered before him, and so I was established in Zion.	10 Ejercí mi ministerio en la Tienda santa delante de él, | y así me establecí en Sión.
11 In the beloved city likewise he gave me a resting place, and in Jerusalem was my dominion.	11 En la ciudad amada encontré descanso, | y en Jerusalén reside mi poder.
12 So I took root in an honored people, in the portion of the Lord, who is their inheritance.	12 Arraigué en un pueblo glorioso, | en la porción del Señor, en su heredad.
13 I grew tall like a cedar in Lebanon, and like a cypress on the heights of Hermon.	13 Crecí como cedro del Líbano, | como ciprés de las montañas del Hermón.
14 I grew tall like a palm tree in En-ge'di, and like rose plants in Jericho; like a beautiful olive tree in the field, and like a plane tree I grew tall.	14 Crecí como palmera de Engadí, | como plantel de rosas de Jericó, | como gallardo olivo en la llanura, | como plátano crecí.
15 Like cassia and camel's thorn I gave forth the aroma of spices, and like choice myrrh I spread a pleasant odor, like galbanum, onycha, and stacte, and like the fragrance of frankincense in the tabernacle.	15 Como cinamomo y aspálato de perfume, | como mirra exquisita derramé aroma, | como gálbano y ónice y estacte, | como nube de incienso en la Tienda.
16 Like a terebinth I spread out my branches, and my branches are glorious and graceful.	16 Como terebinto extendí mis ramas, | un ramaje de gloria y de gracia.
17 Like a vine I caused loveliness to bud, and my blossoms became glorious and abundant fruit.	17 Como vid lozana retoñé, | y mis flores son frutos bellos y abundantes.
18 .	18 Yo soy la madre del amor hermoso y del temor, | del conocimiento y de la santa esperanza, | me doy a todos mis hijos, | escogidos por él desde la eternidad.
19 "Come to me, you who desire me, and eat your fill of my produce.	19 Venid a mí los que me deseáis, | y saciaos de mis frutos.
20 For the remembrance of me is sweeter than honey, and my inheritance sweeter than the honeycomb.	20 Pues mi recuerdo es más dulce que la miel, | y mi heredad más dulce que los panales.
21 Those who eat me will hunger for more, and those who drink me will thirst for more.	21 Los que me comen todavía tendrán hambre, | y los que me beben todavía tendrán sed.
22 Whoever obeys me will not be put to shame, and those who work with my help will not sin."	22 Quien me obedece no pasará vergüenza, | y los que se ocupan de mí no pecarán».
23 All this is the book of the covenant of the Most High God, the law which Moses commanded us as an inheritance for the congregations of Jacob.	23 Todo esto es el libro de la alianza del Dios altísimo, | la ley que nos prescribió Moisés | como herencia para las asambleas de Jacob.
24 .	24 No dejéis de ser fuertes en el Señor; | permaneced unidos a él para que os fortalezca. | El Señor todopoderoso es el único Dios, | y fuera de él no hay salvador.
25 It fills men with wisdom, like the Pishon, and like the Tigris at the time of the first fruits.	25 Ella, la ley, rebosa sabiduría como el Pisón, | como el Tigris en la estación de los primeros frutos;
26 It makes them full of understanding, like the Euphrates, and like the Jordan at harvest time.	26 desborda inteligencia como el Éufrates, | como el Jordán en tiempo de cosecha;
27 It makes instruction shine forth like light, like the Gihon at the time of vintage.	27 derrama enseñanza como el Nilo, | como el Guijón durante la vendimia.
28 Just as the first man did not know her perfectly, the last one has not fathomed her;	28 El primero no acabó de comprenderla, | ni tampoco el último ha podido rastrearla.
29 for her thought is more abundant than the sea, and her counsel deeper than the great abyss.	29 Pues su pensamiento es más ancho que el mar, | y su consejo más profundo que el gran abismo.
30 I went forth like a canal from a river and like a water channel into a garden.	30 Y yo, como canal que deriva de un río, | como acequia que atraviesa un jardín,
31 I said, "I will water my orchard and drench my garden plot"; and lo, my canal became a river, and my river became a sea.	31 dije: «Regaré mi huerto | y empaparé mis eras». | Y he aquí que el canal se me convirtió en un río, | y el río se convirtió en un mar.
32 I will again make instruction shine forth like the dawn, and I will make it shine afar;	32 Haré que mi enseñanza brille como la aurora | y que resplandezca en la lejanía.
33 I will again pour out teaching like prophecy, and leave it to all future generations.	33 Derramaré mi enseñanza como profecía | y la transmitiré a las generaciones futuras.
34 Observe that I have not labored for myself alone, but for all who seek instruction.	34 Fijaos que no he trabajado solo para mí, | sino para todos aquellos que buscan la sabiduría.
