Psalms 19

1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.	1 [Dem Chorleiter. Psalm Davids.]
2 Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge.	2 Die Himmel rühmen die Herrlichkeit Gottes; vom Werk seiner Hände kündet das Firmament.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard;	3 Tag gibt dem Tag die Botschaft weiter, Nacht verkündet der Nacht die Erkenntnis.
4 yet their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun,	4 Ohne Rede und ohne Worte, man hört ihre Stimme nicht.
5 which comes forth like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and like a strong man runs its course with joy.	5 Dennoch ergeht über alles Land ihr Schall, bis ans Ende der Welt ihre Sprache. Er schuf für die Sonne ein Zelt daselbst.
6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them; and there is nothing hid from its heat.	6 Sie ist wie ein Bräutigam, der aus seinem Gemache hervorkommt, läuft freudig wie ein Held die Bahn.
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;	7 Vom Ende des Himmels geht sie aus, und ihr Umlauf reicht wieder bis an sein Ende. Nichts kann sich ihrer Glut entziehen.
8 the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;	8 Das Gesetz des Herrn ist fehlerlos, erquickt die Seele. Die Weisung des Herrn ist zuverlässig, macht die Unerfahrenen weise.
9 the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever; the ordinances of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.	9 Die Befehle des Herrn sind recht, erfreuen das Herz. Das Gebot des Herrn ist strahlend rein, erleuchtet die Augen.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.	10 Die Furcht des Herrn ist lauter, hat dauernden Bestand. Die Entscheidungen des Herrn sind wahr, sind alle gerecht.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.	11 Köstlicher sind sie als Gold und als Feingold in Menge, süßer als Honig und Wabenhonig.
12 But who can discern his errors? Clear thou me from hidden faults.	12 Auch dein Knecht nimmt sie als Warnung, ihre Befolgung bringt viel Lohn.
13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression.	13 Doch unbewußte Fehler - wer kann sie bemerken? Von verborgenen Sünden mach mich rein!
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.	14 Auch vor verbrecherischen Menschen bewahre deinen Knecht, daß sie nicht über mich herrschen! Dann bin ich makellos und frei von schwerer Schuld.
	15 Mögen dir gefallen meines Mundes Worte, meines Herzens Gedanken vor deinem Antlitz, Herr, mein Fels und mein Erlöser!
