1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.	1 Dem Musikmeister; ein Psalm von David.
2 Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge.	2 Die Himmel verkünden Gottes Herrlichkeit (oder: Ehre),und vom Werk seiner Hände erzählt die Feste.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard;	3 Ein Tag ruft dem andern die Botschaft zu,und eine Nacht vermeldet der andern die Kunde.
4 yet their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun,	4 Da ist keine Sprache, da sind keine Worte,unhörbar ist ihre Stimme;
5 which comes forth like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and like a strong man runs its course with joy.	5 und doch: durch alle Lande dringt ihr Schallund ihre Rede bis ans Ende des Erdkreises (vgl. Röm 10,18);der Sonne hat er dort ein Zelt gesetzt.
6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them; and there is nothing hid from its heat.	6 Und sie – wie ein Bräutigam tritt sie hervor aus ihrem Gemach,sie freut sich wie ein Held, zu durchlaufen die Bahn.
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;	7 Vom Ende des Himmels geht sie aus,und ihr Umlauf reicht wieder bis zu dessen Ende,und nichts bleibt verborgen vor ihrer Lichtglut. –
8 the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;	8 Das Gesetz des HERRN ist vollkommen (oder: ohne Fehl):erquickt die Seele;das Zeugnis des HERRN ist zuverlässig:macht die Törichten weise;
9 the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever; the ordinances of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.	9 die Befehle des HERRN sind richtig:erfreuen das Herz;das Gebot des HERRN ist lauter:erleuchtet (oder: läßt leuchten) die Augen;
10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.	10 die Furcht (= Ehrfurcht) vor dem HERRN ist rein:bleibt ewig bestehn;die Gerichtsurteile des HERRN sind Wahrheit:sind allzumal gerecht;
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.	11 sie sind köstlicher als Goldund als Feingold in Menge,sind süßer als Honigund Wabenseim.
12 But who can discern his errors? Clear thou me from hidden faults.	12 Auch dein Knecht läßt durch sie sich warnen:in ihrer Befolgung liegt ein reicher Lohn.
13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression.	13 Verfehlungen – ach, wer nimmt sie wahr?Von den unbewußten Fehlern sprich mich los!
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.	14 Auch vor Hochmutssünden behüte deinen Knecht:laß sie nicht Macht über mich gewinnen!Dann steh’ ich unsträflich da und bleibe reinvon schwerer Verschuldung.
	15 Laß wohlgefällig dir sein die Worte meines Mundesund das Sinnen meines Herzens,o HERR, mein Fels und mein Erlöser!
