1 Then Job answered:	1 Da antwortete Job und sprach:
2 "How you have helped him who has no power! How you have saved the arm that has no strength!	2 "Wie gut stehst du dem Schwachen bei, leistest Hilfe dem kraftlosen Arm!
3 How you have counseled him who has no wisdom, and plentifully declared sound knowledge!	3 Wie trefflich gibst du dem Unweisen Rat, tust du Wissen in Menge kund!
4 With whose help have you uttered words, and whose spirit has come forth from you?	4 Mit wessen Beistand trägst du Reden vor, und wessen Odem geht von dir aus?
5 The shades below tremble, the waters and their inhabitants.	5 Die Totengeister erbeben unter den Wassern und ihren Bewohnern.
6 Sheol is naked before God, and Abaddon has no covering.	6 Enthüllt liegt das Totenreich vor ihm, und keine Decke hat die Unterwelt.
7 He stretches out the north over the void, and hangs the earth upon nothing.	7 Er spannt über dem Leeren den Norden aus, hängt die Erde auf am Nichts.
8 He binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not rent under them.	8 Er bindet das Wasser in sein Gewölk, ohne daß die Wolken deshalb zerreißen.
9 He covers the face of the moon, and spreads over it his cloud.	9 Er überzieht des Vollmonds Antlitz, breitet über ihn sein Gewölk.
10 He has described a circle upon the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness.	10 Eine Grenze zieht er rundum auf den Wassern bis zum Rande von Licht und Finsternis.
11 The pillars of heaven tremble, and are astounded at his rebuke.	11 Des Himmels Säulen erzittern und erschrecken vor seinem Drohwort.
12 By his power he stilled the sea; by his understanding he smote Rahab.	12 Durch seine Gewalt erregt er das Meer, in seiner Weisheit zerschmettert er Rahab.
13 By his wind the heavens were made fair; his hand pierced the fleeing serpent.	13 Durch seinen Hauch wird der Himmel heiter, seine Hand durchbohrt die flüchtige Schlange.
14 Lo, these are but the outskirts of his ways; and how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?"	14 Doch das sind nur die äußersten Enden seiner Wege; ja, nur etwas wie ein Flüstern vernehmen wir von ihm! Aber gar das Donnern seiner Macht, wer könnte es begreifen?"
