¹ And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, also masons and carpenters to build a house for him.	¹ וַיִּשְׁלַח [חִירָם כ] (חוּרָם ק) מֶלֶךְ־צֹר מַלְאָכִים אֶל־דָּוִיד וַעֲצֵי אֲרָזִים וְחָרָשֵׁי קִיר וְחָרָשֵׁי עֵצִים לִבְנֹות לֹו בָּיִת
² And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that his kingdom was highly exalted for the sake of his people Israel.	² וַיֵּדַע דָּוִיד כִּי־הֱכִינֹו יְהוָה לְמֶלֶךְ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל כִּי־נִשֵּׂאת לְמַעְלָה מַלְכוּתֹו בַּעֲבוּר עַמֹּו יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ פ
³ And David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David begot more sons and daughters.	³ וַיִּקַּח דָּוִיד עֹוד נָשִׁים בִּירוּשָׁלִָם וַיֹּולֶד דָּוִיד עֹוד בָּנִים וּבָנֹות
⁴ These are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,	⁴ וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמֹות הַיְלוּדִים אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ־לֹו בִּירוּשָׁלִָם שַׁמּוּעַ וְשֹׁובָב נָתָן וּשְׁלֹמֹה
⁵ Ibhar, Elishu-a, Elpelet,	⁵ וְיִבְחָר וֶאֱלִישׁוּעַ וְאֶלְפָּלֶט
⁶ Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,	⁶ וְנֹגַהּ וְנֶפֶג וְיָפִיעַ
⁷ Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.	⁷ וֶאֱלִישָׁמָע וּבְעֶלְיָדָע וֶאֱלִיפָלֶט
⁸ When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up in search of David; and David heard of it and went out against them.	⁸ וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ פְלִשְׁתִּים כִּי־נִמְשַׁח דָּוִיד לְמֶלֶךְ עַל־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּעֲלוּ כָל־פְּלִשְׁתִּים לְבַקֵּשׁ אֶת־דָּוִיד וַיִּשְׁמַע דָּוִיד וַיֵּצֵא לִפְנֵיהֶם
⁹ Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.	⁹ וּפְלִשְׁתִּים בָּאוּ וַיִּפְשְׁטוּ בְּעֵמֶק רְפָאִים
¹⁰ And David inquired of God, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? Wilt thou give them into my hand?" And the LORD said to him, "Go up, and I will give them into your hand."	¹⁰ וַיִּשְׁאַל דָּוִיד בֵּאלֹהִים לֵאמֹר הַאֶעֱלֶה עַל־ [פְּלִשְׁתִּיִּים כ] (פְּלִשְׁתִּים ק) וּנְתַתָּם בְּיָדִי וַיֹּאמֶר לֹו יְהוָה עֲלֵה וּנְתַתִּים בְּיָדֶךָ
¹¹ And he went up to Baal-perazim, and David defeated them there; and David said, "God has broken through my enemies by my hand, like a bursting flood." Therefore the name of that place is called Baal-perazim.	¹¹ וַיַּעֲלוּ בְּבַעַל־פְּרָצִים וַיַּכֵּם שָׁם דָּוִיד וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד פָּרַץ הָאֱלֹהִים אֶת־אֹויְבַי בְּיָדִי כְּפֶרֶץ מָיִם עַל־כֵּן קָרְאוּ שֵׁם־הַמָּקֹום הַהוּא בַּעַל פְּרָצִים
¹² And they left their gods there, and David gave command, and they were burned.	¹² וַיַּעַזְבוּ־שָׁם אֶת־אֱלֹהֵיהֶם וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד וַיִּשָּׂרְפוּ בָּאֵשׁ׃ פ
¹³ And the Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley.	¹³ וַיֹּסִיפוּ עֹוד פְּלִשְׁתִּים וַיִּפְשְׁטוּ בָּעֵמֶק
¹⁴ And when David again inquired of God, God said to him, "You shall not go up after them; go around and come upon them opposite the balsam trees.	¹⁴ וַיִּשְׁאַל עֹוד דָּוִיד בֵּאלֹהִים וַיֹּאמֶר לֹו הָאֱלֹהִים לֹא תַעֲלֶה אַחֲרֵיהֶם הָסֵב מֵעֲלֵיהֶם וּבָאתָ לָהֶם מִמּוּל הַבְּכָאִים
¹⁵ And when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to smite the army of the Philistines."	¹⁵ וִיהִי כְּשָׁמְעֲךָ אֶת־קֹול הַצְּעָדָה בְּרָאשֵׁי הַבְּכָאִים אָז תֵּצֵא בַמִּלְחָמָה כִּי־יָצָא הָאֱלֹהִים לְפָנֶיךָ לְהַכֹּות אֶת־מַחֲנֵה פְלִשְׁתִּים
¹⁶ And David did as God commanded him, and they smote the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer.	¹⁶ וַיַּעַשׂ דָּוִיד כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּהוּ הָאֱלֹהִים וַיַּכּוּ אֶת־מַחֲנֵה פְלִשְׁתִּים מִגִּבְעֹון וְעַד־גָּזְרָה
¹⁷ And the fame of David went out into all lands, and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.	¹⁷ וַיֵּצֵא שֵׁם־דָּוִיד בְּכָל־הָאֲרָצֹות וַיהוָה נָתַן אֶת־פַּחְדֹּו עַל־כָּל־הַגֹּויִם
