1 And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, also masons and carpenters to build a house for him.	1 Nun schickte Hiram, der König von Tyrus, Gesandte an David mit Zedernstämmen, dazu Steinmetzen und Zimmerleute, damit sie ihm einen Palast bauten;
2 And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that his kingdom was highly exalted for the sake of his people Israel.	2 daran erkannte David, daß der HERR ihn als König über Israel bestätigt habe, weil sein Königtum zu hohem Ansehen erhoben worden war um seines Volkes Israel willen.
3 And David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David begot more sons and daughters.	3 In Jerusalem nahm sich David dann noch mehr Frauen und wurde Vater von noch mehr Söhnen und Töchtern.
4 These are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,	4 Dies aber sind die Namen der Söhne, die ihm in Jerusalem geboren wurden: Sammua und Sobab, Nathan und Salomo,
5 Ibhar, Elishu-a, Elpelet,	5 Jibhar, Elisua, Elpelet,
6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,	6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,
7 Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.	7 Elisama, Beeljada und Eliphelet.
8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up in search of David; and David heard of it and went out against them.	8 Als aber die Philister vernahmen, daß David zum König über ganz Israel gesalbt worden war, zogen die Philister insgesamt heran, um seiner habhaft zu werden; aber David erhielt Kunde davon und zog ihnen entgegen.
9 Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.	9 Als nun die Philister eingedrungen waren und sich in der Ebene Rephaim ausbreiteten,
10 And David inquired of God, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? Wilt thou give them into my hand?" And the LORD said to him, "Go up, and I will give them into your hand."	10 richtete David die Anfrage an Gott: »Soll ich gegen die Philister hinaufziehen, und wirst du sie in meine Hand geben?« Da antwortete ihm der HERR: »Ziehe hin, ich will sie in deine Hand geben!«
11 And he went up to Baal-perazim, and David defeated them there; and David said, "God has broken through my enemies by my hand, like a bursting flood." Therefore the name of that place is called Baal-perazim.	11 Als sie nun nach Baal-Perazim hinaufzogen und David sie dort geschlagen hatte, rief David aus: »Gott hat meine Feinde durch meine Hand durchbrochen, wie das Wasser einen Damm durchbricht!« Darum hat man jenem Ort den Namen Baal-Perazim (d.h. Ort der Durchbrüche) gegeben.
12 And they left their gods there, and David gave command, and they were burned.	12 Da (die Philister) ihre Götterbilder dort zurückgelassen hatten, gab David den Befehl, daß man sie verbrennen solle.
13 And the Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley.	13 Die Philister zogen dann nochmals heran und breiteten sich in der Ebene (Rephaim) aus.
14 And when David again inquired of God, God said to him, "You shall not go up after them; go around and come upon them opposite the balsam trees.	14 Als David nun Gott wiederum befragte, antwortete dieser ihm: »Du sollst nicht hinter ihnen her hinaufziehen, sondern umgehe sie, damit du sie vom Baka-Gehölz her überfällst!
15 And when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to smite the army of the Philistines."	15 Sobald du dann in den Wipfeln des Baka-Gehölzes das Geräusch von Schritten vernimmst, dann gehe zum Angriff über! Denn alsdann ist Gott vor dir her ausgezogen, um das Heer der Philister zu schlagen.«
16 And David did as God commanded him, and they smote the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer.	16 Da tat David, wie Gott ihm geboten hatte, und so schlugen sie das Heer der Philister von Gibeon bis nach Geser hin.
17 And the fame of David went out into all lands, and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.	17 Hierauf verbreitete sich der Ruhm Davids in alle Lande, und der HERR flößte allen Völkern Furcht vor ihm ein.
