1 After this David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and David took Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.	1 In seguito David batté i Filistei e li umiliò. David tolse di mano ai Filistei la metropoli di Gat.
2 And he defeated Moab, and measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground; two lines he measured to be put to death, and one full line to be spared. And the Moabites became servants to David and brought tribute.	2 batté poi i Moabiti e li misurò con la fune mettendoli sdraiati per terra: ne misurò due funi da mettere a morte e il contenuto di una fune da lasciare in vita. I Moabiti divennero schiavi di David, sottomessi a tributo.
3 David also defeated Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to restore his power at the river Euphrates.	3 David batté poi Hadad-Ezer da Bet-Rekhob, re di Zoba, mentre costui andava a ristabilire il potere sul fiume.
4 And David took from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand foot soldiers; and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but left enough for a hundred chariots.	4 David gli catturò millesettecento cavalli e ventimila fanti e tagliò i garretti a tutti i cavalli da tiro, lasciandone solo cento pariglie.
5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew twenty-two thousand men of the Syrians.	5 Allora gli Aramei di Damasco vennero in aiuto di Hadad-Ezer re di Zoba e David colpì ventiduemila Aramei.
6 Then David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David and brought tribute. And the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.	6 In seguito David stabilì prefetti tra gli Aramei di Damasco; così gli Aramei divennero schiavi di David, sottomessi a tributo. Jahvè aiutò David in qualunque cosa questi intraprendesse.
7 And David took the shields of gold which were carried by the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.	7 David prese gli scudi d’oro che i servitori di Hadad-Ezer avevano e li portò a Gerusalemme.
8 And from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took very much bronze.	8 Da Tebakh inoltre e da Berotai, città di Hadad-Ezer, David prese rame in grandissima quantità.
9 When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the whole army of Hadadezer,	9 Quando Tou, re di Hamat, seppe che David aveva battuto tutte le forze di Hadad-Ezer,
10 Toi sent his son Joram to King David, to greet him, and to congratulate him because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him; for Hadadezer had often been at war with Toi. And Joram brought with him articles of silver, of gold, and of bronze;	10 Tou mandò il figlio Hadduram dal re David affinché gli porgesse saluti e congratulazioni perché aveva combattuto contro Hadad-Ezer e lo aveva battuto; poiché Hadad-Ezer era continuamente in guerra contro Tou. Hadduram portava con sé oggetti d’argento, d’oro e di rame:
11 these also King David dedicated to the LORD, together with the silver and gold which he dedicated from all the nations he subdued,	11 il re David consacrò anche questi a Jahvè, insieme con l’argento e con l’oro che egli aveva già consacrato e che proveniva dalle genti da lui calpestate,
12 from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, Amalek, and from the spoil of Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah.	12 cioè da Aram, da Moab, dai figli di Ammon, dai Filistei, da Amalec e dalle spoglie di Hadad-Ezer figlio di Rekhob, re di Zoba,
13 And David won a name for himself. When he returned, he slew eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.	13 David si acquistò fama quando ritornò dalla vittoria contro gli Aramei, in cui batté gli Idumei nella valle del Sale in numero di diciottomila,
14 And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became David's servants. And the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.	14 Stabilì prefetti in _Edom, in tutta Edom stabilì prefetti e tutti gli Idumei divennero schiavi di David. Jahvè aiutò David in qualunque cosa questi intraprendesse.
15 So David reigned over all Israel; and David administered justice and equity to all his people.	15 David fu dunque re di tutto Israele e amministrò rettamente la giustizia a tutto il popolo.
16 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;	16 Joab, figlio di Zeruia, aveva il comando dell’esercito. Joshafat, figlio di Akhilud, era araldo.
17 and Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests; and Seraiah was secretary;	17 Zadog, figlio di Akhitob, ed Ebiatar, figlio di Akhimelech, erano sacerdoti. Shisha era scriba.
18 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were priests.	18 Benaia, figlio di Joiada, aveva il comando dei Cretei e dei Pletei. I figli di David erano consiglieri.
