1 After this David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and David took Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.	1 - Dopo queste cose Davide sconfisse i Filistei e li umiliò e prese dalle mani dei Filistei il comando della fortezza.
2 And he defeated Moab, and measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground; two lines he measured to be put to death, and one full line to be spared. And the Moabites became servants to David and brought tribute.	2 Sconfisse pure i Moabiti e distesili per terra, li misurò con una corda e ne misurò due parti, una di quelli che dovevano essere uccisi e l'altra di quelli che dovevano conservarsi in vita. E Moab divenne tributario di Davide.
3 David also defeated Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to restore his power at the river Euphrates.	3 Davide sconfisse anche Adarezer figlio di Roob re di Soba, allorchè questi partì per dominare sul fiume Eufrate.
4 And David took from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand foot soldiers; and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but left enough for a hundred chariots.	4 Davide gli prese millesettecento cavalieri e ventimila pedoni, tagliò i garretti a tutti i cavalli da tiro e si riservò [dei cavalli] per cento carri.
5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew twenty-two thousand men of the Syrians.	5 Anche la Siria di Damasco era venuta in aiuto di Adarezer re di Soba, e Davide sconfisse ventiduemila Siri,
6 Then David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David and brought tribute. And the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.	6 e posto nella Siria di Damasco un presidio, si assoggettò la Siria e la sottopose ad un tributo. Il Signore poi conservò Davide in tutti i luoghi dove era andato.
7 And David took the shields of gold which were carried by the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.	7 Davide prese le armi d'oro che avevano i servi di Adarezer le portò a Gerusalemme.
8 And from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took very much bronze.	8 Parimenti, da Bete e da Berot, città di Adarezer, Davide portò via gran quantità di rame.
9 When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the whole army of Hadadezer,	9 Avendo Tou re di Emat udito che Davide aveva disfatto tutto l'esercito di Adarezer,
10 Toi sent his son Joram to King David, to greet him, and to congratulate him because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him; for Hadadezer had often been at war with Toi. And Joram brought with him articles of silver, of gold, and of bronze;	10 inviò al re Davide il figliuolo suo Joram per salutarlo, per congratularsi con lui e per ringraziarlo d'aver sconfitto Adarezer e di averlo battuto, perchè Tou era nemico di Adarezer. Joram aveva portato seco vasi di oro, d'argento e di rame
11 these also King David dedicated to the LORD, together with the silver and gold which he dedicated from all the nations he subdued,	11 e anche questi furono dal re Davide consacrati al Signore, come già aveva consacrato l'argento e l'oro preso alle nazioni da lui soggiogate,
12 from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, Amalek, and from the spoil of Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah.	12 cioè alla Siria, a Moab, ai figli di Ammon, ai Filistei, agli Amaleciti e al bottino di Adarezer figlio di Roob re di Soba.
13 And David won a name for himself. When he returned, he slew eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.	13 Davide acquistò pure molta celebrità quando, di ritorno dall'aver soggiogata la Siria, sconfisse nella valle delle Saline, diciottomila uomini.
14 And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became David's servants. And the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.	14 Anche nella Idumea collocò guarnigioni e stabilì un presidio e tutta l'Idumea fu soggetta a Davide. Il Signore poi protesse Davide in tutti i luoghi dove andò.
15 So David reigned over all Israel; and David administered justice and equity to all his people.	15 Davide regnò sopra tutto Israele e rendeva ragione e giustizia a tutto il suo popolo.
16 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;	16 Joab figliuolo di Sarvia comandava all'esercito; Josafat figlio di Ailud faceva da istoriografo,
17 and Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests; and Seraiah was secretary;	17 Sadoc figlio di Achitob e Achimelec figlio di Abiatar erano sacerdoti, Saraia era lo scriba,
18 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were priests.	18 Banaia figlio di Joiada era capo dei Ceretei e dei Feletei, mentre i figli di Davide fungevano da Ministri.
