1 And having entered, he walked through Jericho.	1 Entró en Jericó e iba atravesando la ciudad.
2 And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. And he was the leader of the tax collectors, and he was wealthy.	2 En esto, un hombre llamado Zaqueo, jefe de publicanos y rico,
3 And he sought to see Jesus, to see who he was. But he was unable to do so, because of the crowd, for he was small in stature.	3 trataba de ver quién era Jesús, pero no lo lograba a causa del gentío, porque era pequeño de estatura.
4 And running ahead, he climbed up a sycamore tree, so that he might see him. For he was to pass near there.	4 Corriendo más adelante, se subió a un sicomoro para verlo, porque tenía que pasar por allí.
5 And when he had arrived at the place, Jesus looked up and saw him, and he said to him: “Zacchaeus, hurry down. For today, I should lodge in your house.”	5 Jesús, al llegar a aquel sitio, levantó los ojos y le dijo: «Zaqueo, date prisa y baja, porque es necesario que hoy me quede en tu casa».
6 And hurrying, he came down, and he received him joyfully.	6 Él se dio prisa en bajar y lo recibió muy contento.
7 And when they all saw this, they murmured, saying that he had turned aside to a sinful man.	7 Al ver esto, todos murmuraban diciendo: «Ha entrado a hospedarse en casa de un pecador».
8 But Zacchaeus, standing still, said to the Lord: “Behold, Lord, one half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have cheated anyone in any matter, I will repay him fourfold.”	8 Pero Zaqueo, de pie, dijo al Señor: «Mira, Señor, la mitad de mis bienes se la doy a los pobres; y si he defraudado a alguno, le restituyo cuatro veces más».
9 Jesus said to him: “Today, salvation has come to this house; because of this, he too is a son of Abraham.	9 Jesús le dijo: «Hoy ha sido la salvación de esta casa, pues también este es hijo de Abrahán.
10 For the Son of man has come to seek and to save what had been lost.”	10 Porque el Hijo del hombre ha venido a buscar y a salvar lo que estaba perdido».
11 As they were listening to these things, continuing on, he spoke a parable, because he was nearing Jerusalem, and because they guessed that the kingdom of God might be manifested without delay.	11 Mientras ellos escuchaban todo esto, añadió una parábola, porque él estaba cerca de Jerusalén y pensaban que el reino de Dios iba a manifestarse enseguida.
12 Therefore, he said: “A certain man of nobility traveled to a far away region, to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.	12 Dijo, pues: «Un hombre noble se marchó a un país lejano para conseguirse el título de rey, y volver después.
13 And calling his ten servants, he gave them ten pounds, and he said to them: ‘Do business until I return.’	13 Llamó a diez siervos suyos y les repartió diez minas de oro, diciéndoles: “Negociad mientras vuelvo”.
14 But his citizens hated him. And so they sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this one to reign over us.’	14 Pero sus conciudadanos lo aborrecían y enviaron tras de él una embajada diciendo: “No queremos que este llegue a reinar sobre nosotros”.
15 And it happened that he returned, having received the kingdom. And he ordered the servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called so that he would know how much each one had earned by doing business.	15 Cuando regresó de conseguir el título real, mandó llamar a su presencia a los siervos a quienes había dado el dinero, para enterarse de lo que había ganado cada uno.
16 Now the first approached, saying: ‘Lord, your one pound has earned ten pounds.’	16 El primero se presentó y dijo: “Señor, tu mina ha producido diez”.
17 And he said to him: ‘Well done, good servant. Since you have been faithful in a small matter, you will hold authority over ten cities.’	17 Él le dijo: “Muy bien, siervo bueno; ya que has sido fiel en lo pequeño, recibe el gobierno de diez ciudades”.
18 And the second came, saying: ‘Lord, your one pound has earned five pounds.’	18 El segundo llegó y dijo: “Tu mina, señor, ha rendido cinco”.
19 And he said to him, ‘And so, you shall be over five cities.’	19 A ese le dijo también: “Pues toma tú el mando de cinco ciudades”.
20 And another approached, saying: ‘Lord, behold your one pound, which I kept stored in a cloth.	20 El otro llegó y dijo: “Señor, aquí está tu mina; la he tenido guardada en un pañuelo,
21 For I feared you, because you are an austere man. You take up what you did not lay down, and you reap what you did not sow.’	21 porque tenía miedo, pues eres un hombre exigente que retiras lo que no has depositado y siegas lo que no has sembrado”.
22 He said to him: ‘By your own mouth, do I judge you, O wicked servant. You knew that I am an austere man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow.	22 Él le dijo: “Por tu boca te juzgo, siervo malo. ¿Conque sabías que soy exigente, que retiro lo que no he depositado y siego lo que no he sembrado?
23 And so, why did you not give my money to the bank, so that, upon my return, I might have withdrawn it with interest?’	23 Pues ¿por qué no pusiste mi dinero en el banco? Al volver yo, lo habría cobrado con los intereses”.
24 And he said to the bystanders, ‘Take the pound away from him, and give it to him who has ten pounds.’	24 Entonces dijo a los presentes: “Quitadle a este la mina y dádsela al que tiene diez minas”.
25 And they said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten pounds.’	25 Le dijeron: “Señor, ya tiene diez minas”.
26 So then, I say to you, that to all who have, it shall be given, and he will have in abundance. And from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.	26 “Os digo: al que tiene se le dará, pero al que no tiene se le quitará hasta lo que tiene.
27 ‘Yet truly, as for those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here, and put them to death before me.’ ”	27 Y en cuanto a esos enemigos míos, que no querían que llegase a reinar sobre ellos, traedlos acá y degolladlos en mi presencia”».
28 And having said these things, he went ahead, ascending to Jerusalem.	28 Dicho esto, caminaba delante de ellos, subiendo hacia Jerusalén.
29 And it happened that, when he had drawn near to Bethphage and Bethania, to the mount which is called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples,	29 Al acercarse a Betfagé y Betania, junto al monte llamado de los Olivos, mandó a dos discípulos,
30 saying: “Go into the town which is opposite you. Upon entering it, you will find the colt of a donkey, tied, on which no man has ever sat. Untie it, and lead it here.	30 diciéndoles: «Id a la aldea de enfrente; al entrar en ella, encontraréis un pollino atado, que nadie ha montado nunca. Desatadlo y traedlo.
31 And if anyone will ask you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this to him: ‘Because the Lord has requested its service.’ ”	31 Y si alguien os pregunta: “¿Por qué lo desatáis?”, le diréis así: “El Señor lo necesita”».
32 And those who were sent went out, and they found the colt standing, just as he told them.	32 Fueron, pues, los enviados y lo encontraron como les había dicho.
33 Then, as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”	33 Mientras desataban el pollino, los dueños les dijeron: «¿Por qué desatáis el pollino?».
34 So they said, “Because the Lord has need of it.”	34 Ellos dijeron: «El Señor lo necesita».
35 And they led it to Jesus. And casting their garments on the colt, they helped Jesus onto it.	35 Se lo llevaron a Jesús y, después de poner sus mantos sobre el pollino, ayudaron a Jesús a montar sobre él.
36 Then, as he was traveling, they were laying down their garments along the way.	36 Mientras él iba avanzando, extendían sus mantos por el camino.
37 And when he was now drawing near to the descent of Mount Olivet, the entire crowd of his disciples began to praise God joyfully, with a loud voice, over all the powerful works which they had seen,	37 Y, cuando se acercaba ya a la bajada del monte de los Olivos, la multitud de los discípulos, llenos de alegría, comenzaron a alabar a Dios a grandes voces por todos los milagros que habían visto,
38 saying: “Blessed is the king who has arrived in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory on high!”	38 diciendo: «¡Bendito el rey que viene en nombre del Señor! Paz en el cielo y gloria en las alturas».
39 And certain Pharisees within the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”	39 Algunos fariseos de entre la gente le dijeron: «Maestro, reprende a tus discípulos».
40 And he said to them, “I tell you, that if these will keep silent, the stones themselves will cry out.”	40 Y respondiendo, dijo: «Os digo que, si estos callan, gritarán las piedras».
41 And when he drew near, seeing the city, he wept over it, saying:	41 Al acercarse y ver la ciudad, lloró sobre ella,
42 “If only you had known, indeed even in this your day, which things are for your peace. But now they are hidden from your eyes.	42 mientras decía: «¡Si reconocieras tú también en este día lo que conduce a la paz! Pero ahora está escondido a tus ojos.
43 For the days will overtake you. And your enemies will encircle you with a valley. And they will surround you and hem you in on every side.	43 Pues vendrán días sobre ti en que tus enemigos te rodearán de trincheras, te sitiarán, apretarán el cerco de todos lados,
44 And they will knock you down to the ground, with your sons who are in you. And they will not leave stone upon stone within you, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”	44 te arrasarán con tus hijos dentro, y no dejarán piedra sobre piedra. Porque no reconociste el tiempo de tu visita».
45 And entering into the temple, he began to cast out those who sold in it, and those who bought,	45 Después entró en el templo y se puso a echar a los vendedores,
46 saying to them: “It is written: ‘My house is a house of prayer.’ But you have made it into a den of robbers.”	46 diciéndoles: «Escrito está: “Mi casa será casa de oración”; pero vosotros la habéis hecho una “cueva de bandidos”».
47 And he was teaching in the temple daily. And the leaders of the priests, and the scribes, and the leaders of the people were seeking to destroy him.	47 Todos los días enseñaba en el templo. Por su parte, los sumos sacerdotes, los escribas y los principales del pueblo buscaban acabar con él,
48 But they could not find what to do to him. For all the people were listening to him attentively.	48 pero no sabían qué hacer, porque todo el pueblo estaba pendiente de él, escuchándolo.
