A Canticle of David himself, when the house was built after the captivity. Sing to the Lord a new song. Sing to the Lord, all the earth. | 1 Venite, exsultemus Domino; iubilemus Deo salutari nostro. |
Sing to the Lord and bless his name. Announce his salvation from day to day. | 2 Praeoccupemus faciem eius in confessione et in psalmis iubilemus ei. |
Announce his glory among the Gentiles, his miracles among all peoples. | 3 Quoniam Deus magnus Dominus, et rex magnus super omnes deos. |
For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised. He is terrible, beyond all gods. | 4 Quia in manu eius sunt profunda terrae, et altitudines montium ipsius sunt. |
For all the gods of the Gentiles are demons, but the Lord made the heavens. | 5 Quoniam ipsius est mare, et ipse fecit illud, et siccam manus eius formaverunt. |
Confession and beauty are in his sight. Sanctity and magnificence are in his sanctuary. | 6 Venite, adoremus et procidamus et genua flectamus ante Dominum, qui fecit nos, |
Bring to the Lord, you natives of the nations, bring to the Lord glory and honor. | 7 quia ipse est Deus noster, et nos populus pascuae eius et oves manus eius. |
Bring to the Lord glory for his name. Lift up sacrifices, and enter into his courts. | 8 Utinam hodie vocem eius audiatis: “ Nolite obdurare corda vestra, |
Adore the Lord in his holy court. Let the entire earth be shaken before his face. | 9 sicut in Meriba, secundum diem Massa in deserto, ubi tentaverunt me patres vestri: probaverunt me, etsi viderunt opera mea. |
Say among the Gentiles: The Lord has reigned. For he has even corrected the whole world, which will not be shaken. He will judge the peoples with fairness. | 10 Quadraginta annis taeduit me generationis illius et dixi: Populus errantium corde sunt isti. |
Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth exult; let the sea and all its fullness be moved. | 11 Et ipsi non cognoverunt vias meas; ideo iuravi in ira mea: Non introibunt in requiem meam ”. |
The fields and all the things that are in them will be glad. Then all the trees of the forest will rejoice | |
before the face of the Lord: for he arrives. For he arrives to judge the earth. He will judge the whole world with fairness and the peoples with his truth. |
