Psalms 56

2 Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me. For my soul trusts in you. And I will hope in the shadow of your wings, until iniquity passes away.	2 Abbi pietà di me, o Dio, poiché un uomo mi ha calpestato, tutto il giorno uno che mi combatte m'opprime.
3 I will cry out to God Most High, to God who has been kind to me.	3 Mi hanno calpestato i miei avversari tutto il giorno, poiché molti mi combattono, o Altissimo.
4 He sent from heaven and freed me. He has surrendered into disgrace those who trampled me. God has sent his mercy and his truth.	4 Quando sono preso dal timore, in te io mi rifugio:
5 And he has rescued my soul from the midst of the young lions. I slept troubled. The sons of men: their teeth are weapons and arrows, and their tongue is a sharp sword.	5 in Dio, di cui celebro la promessa, in Dio confido: non temo; cosa potrà farmi un essere mortale?
6 Be exalted above the heavens, O God, and your glory above all the earth.	6 Tutto il giorno parlano e complottano, per la mia rovina sono tutti i loro piani:
7 They prepared a snare for my feet, and they bowed down my soul. They dug a pit before my face, yet they have fallen into it.	7 congiurano, tendono agguati. Ecco: le mie orme osservano, sì, aspettano al varco l'anima mia.
8 My heart is prepared, O God, my heart is prepared. I will sing, and I will compose a psalm.	8 In ragione della colpa ripàgali: nell'ira i popoli prosterna, o Dio.
9 Rise up, my glory. Rise up, psaltery and harp. I will arise in early morning.	9 I passi del mio vagare tu hai numerato, le mie lacrime son poste nel tuo otre, cioè nel tuo libro.
10 I will confess to you, O Lord, among the peoples. I will compose a psalm to you among the nations.	10 Allora si volgeranno indietro i miei nemici, nel giorno in cui a te griderò. Questo io so: Dio è per me!
11 For your mercy has been magnified, even to the heavens, and your truth, even to the clouds.	11 In Dio, di cui celebro la promessa, nel Signore, di cui celebro la promessa,
12 Be exalted above the heavens, O God, and your glory above all the earth.	12 in Dio confido: non temo, cosa potrà farmi un uomo?
	13 Su di me, o Dio, i tuoi voti: voglio sciogliere a te le mie lodi,
	14 poiché hai strappato dalla morte l'anima mia, cioè il mio piede dalla caduta, affinché possa camminare al cospetto di Dio, nella luce dei viventi.
