1 Therefore call, if there are any who will respond to you, and turn to one or another of the saints.	1 Dunque chiama, s' egli è alcuno che ti risponda, e convèrtiti ad alcuno de' santi.
2 Truly, anger condemns the foolish to death, and envy kills the petty.	2 La iracondia uccide l'uomo sciocco, e la invidia uccide il piccolo.
3 I have seen a fool with a strong root, and I have cursed his excellence without hesitation.	3 Viddi lo sciocco con ferma radice, e maledissi incontanente la bellezza sua.
4 His sons will be far from prosperity and will be crushed at the gate, and there will be none who can rescue them.	4 Dalla lunga saranno fatti li figliuoli suoi dalla salute, e fieno attriti nella porta, e non sarà chi li liberi.
5 Their harvest, the starving will eat. The armed man will rob him, and the thirsty will drink his resources.	5 La biada dello quale mangerae l' affamato, e lui piglierà l' armato, e beranno coloro che hanno sete le ricchezze sue.
6 Nothing on earth occurs without a reason, and sorrow does not rise from the earth.	6 Niuna cosa nella terra senza cagione si fa, e della terra non uscirà dolore.
7 Man is born to labor, and the bird to fly.	7 L'uomo alla fatica nasce e l'uccello a volare.
8 Therefore, because of this, I will beg the Lord, and place my eloquence before God.	8 Per la quale cagione io pregherò lo Signore, e a Dio porroe lo mio favellare,
9 He does great and unfathomable and miraculous things without number.	9 il quale fae le grandi cose, e da non poter cercare, e molto maravigliose e senza numero;
10 He gives rain over the face of the earth and irrigates all things with the waters.	10 il quale dae la piova sopra la faccia della terra, e bagna coll' acque ogni cosa;
11 He places the humble on high and encourages the grieving towards health.	11 il quale pone li umili ad alto, e li piagnenti dirizza con dolcezza;
12 He dispels the thoughts of the spiteful, lest their hands be able to complete what they had begun.	12 il quale guasta li pensieri delli rei, acciò che non possano compire le mani loro quello che aviano incominciato;
13 He catches the wise in their cleverness and dissipates the counsel of the perverse.	13 il quale apprende li savii nella astuzia loro, e li consigli de' malvagi guasta.
14 They will encounter darkness in the daytime, and they will grope at midday just as in the night.	14 Di giorno correranno nelle tenebre; e quasi come di notte, così palperanno nel mezzo dì.
15 Thereafter, he will act to save the needy from the sword of their mouth, and the poor from the hand of the violent.	15 In verità salva lo poverello dal coltello della bocca loro, e dalla mano violenta lo bisognoso.
16 And there will be hope for those in need, for iniquity will diminish its speech.	16 E sarà speranza all' abbisognante; ma la iniquità costrignerà la bocca sua.
17 Blessed is the man whom God corrects; therefore, do not reject the chastisement of the Lord.	17 Beato l'uomo che è corretto da Dio; adunque [per] la reprensione della sua correzione non lo vituperarae.
18 For he wounds and he cures; he strikes and his hands will heal.	18 Perciò ch' egli ferisce, e medica; percuote, e le mani sue saneranno.
19 He will deliver you into six tribulations, and in the seventh, evil will not touch you.	19 In sei tribulazioni liberarà te, e nella settima non toccherà te lo male.
20 During famine, he will rescue you from death, and during war, from the hand of the sword.	20 Nella fame scamperà te da morte, e nella battaglia dalla mano del coltello.
21 You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and you will not fear calamity when it arrives.	21 Dal tormento della lingua sarai nascoso, e non temerai la miseria quando sopraverrae.
22 In desolation and in famine, you will laugh, and you will not dread the beasts of the earth.	22 Nel guasto e nella fame riderai, e non temerai le bestie della terra.
23 For you are in harmony with the stones of the land, and the beasts of the earth will make peace with you.	23 Ma colle pietre della regione lo patto tuo, e le bestie della terra ti saranno pacifiche.
24 And you will know that your home has peace, and, concerning your appearance, you will not sin.	24 E sappi che pace abbi la casa tua; e visitando la specie tua, non peccherai.
25 Likewise, you will know that your offspring will be manifold and your progeny will be like the grass of the earth.	25 Certo saprai che in molti sarae lo seme tuo, e la schiatta tua sarae come erba della terra.
26 You will enter the grave with abundance, just as a crop of wheat is gathered in its time.	26 Con abbondanza entrerai nel sepolcro, sì come era aperto lo monticello del grano nel tempo suo.
27 Behold, this is just as we have found it, which you have heard; walk it through your mind.	27 Ecco; questo, sì come abbiamo investigato, così è; lo qual udito, con la mente pertratta.
