¹ Continuing in a similar manner, Eliu had this to say:	¹ Eliú, continuando, disse:
² Bear with me for a little while and I will show you; for I have still more to say in favor of God.	² Suporta-me um pouco, e eu me explicarei contigo, porque ainda tenho que falar em defesa de Deus.
³ I will review my knowledge from the beginning, and I will prove my Maker to be just.	³ Tornarei a pegar no discurso desde o principio, e provarei que o meu criador é justo.
⁴ For truly my words are without any falsehood and perfect knowledge will be proven to you.	⁴ Verdadeiramente os meus discursos são sem mentira; far-te-ei ver que a (minha) doutrina é sólida.
⁵ God does not abandon the powerful, for he himself is also powerful.	⁵ Deus é poderoso, mas não desdenhoso. é poderoso pela sua ciência,
⁶ But he does not save the impious, though he grants judgment to the poor.	⁶ Não deixa florescer os ímpios, e faz justiça aos pobres.
⁷ He will not take his eyes away from the just, and he continually establishes kings on their throne, and they are exalted.	⁷ Não tirará (nunca) os seus olhos dos justos, e, ao fim, os colocará, com os reis, sobre o trono, numa glória eterna.
⁸ And, if they are in captivity, or are bound with the chains of poverty,	⁸ E, se estiverem em cadeias, atados com os laços da pobreza,
⁹ he will reveal to them their works, as well as their sinfulness, in that they were violent.	⁹ ele lhes fará ver as suas obras, as suas maldades, cometidas por orgulho.
¹⁰ Likewise, he will open their ears to his correction, and he will speak to them, so that they may return from iniquity.	¹⁰ Abrir-lhes-ã os ouvidos à correção e lhes falará para que se convertam da sua iniquidade.
¹¹ If they listen and obey, they will fill their days with goodness and complete their years in glory.	¹¹ Se ouvirem e obedecerem, acabarão os seus dias na felicidade, os seus anos em delícias.
¹² But if they will not listen, they will pass away by the sword and will be consumed by foolishness.	¹² Porém, se não ouvirem, serão passados à espada, e perecerão na sua cegueira.
¹³ The false and the crafty provoke the wrath of God, yet they do not cry out to him when they are chained.	¹³ Os corações impios entregam-se à cólera, não clamam a Deus, quando se vêem aprisionados.
¹⁴ Their soul will die in a storm, and their life, among the unmanly.	¹⁴ Morrerão em plena juventude, e a sua vida acabará como a dos dissolutos.
¹⁵ He will rescue the poor from his anguish, and he will open his ear during tribulation.	¹⁵ Pelo contrário Deus livra o pobre, pela sua angústia, e abre-lhe o ouvido com a tribulação,
¹⁶ Therefore, he will save you from the narrow mouth very widely, even though it has no foundation under it. Moreover, your respite at table will be full of fatness.	¹⁶ Ele te salvará (ó Job) do abismo estreito da angústia e te porá ao largo, em plena liberdade, (se te converteres), e tu repousarás à tua mesa cheia de gordas viandas.
¹⁷ Your case has been judged like that of the impious; you will withdraw your plea and your judgment.	¹⁷ Mas se seguires as vias do impio, suportarás a sentença e o castigo.
¹⁸ Therefore, do not let anger overwhelm you so that you oppress another; neither should you allow a multitude of gifts to influence you.	¹⁸ Não te leve, pois, a ira, ao arrebatamento, nem te faça desanimar a grandeza da expiação.
¹⁹ Lay down your greatness without distress, and put aside all of your power with courage.	¹⁹ Poderá tirar-te da angústia o teu clamor, e todos os teus vigorosos esforços?
²⁰ Do not prolong the night, even if people rise on their behalf.	²⁰ Não suspires pela noite (da morte), na qual entram os povos, um após outro.
²¹ Be careful that you do not turn to iniquity; for, after your misery, you have begun to follow this.	²¹ Guarda-te de declinares para a iniquidade, ainda que a abraçasses, levado pela miséria.
²² Behold, God is exalted in his strength, and there is no one like him among the law-givers.	²² Olha como Deus é excelso na sua fortaleza. Quem, como ele, é terrível?
²³ Who is able to investigate his ways? And who can say, “You have done iniquity,” to him?	²³ Quem lhe prescreveu normas de conduta? Ou quem poderá dizer-lhe: Tu fizeste mal?
²⁴ Remember that you are ignorant of his work, yet men have sung its praises.	²⁴ Lembra-te que deves celebrar a sua obra, a qual tantos homens cantaram.
²⁵ All men consider him; and each one ponders from a distance.	²⁵ Todos os homens o vêem, mas cada um o vê de longe.
²⁶ Behold, God is great, defeating our knowledge; the number of his years is inestimable.	²⁶ Com efeito. Deus é grande e ultrapassa toda a nossa ciência, o número dos seus anos é incalculável.
²⁷ He carries away the drops of rain, and he sends forth showers like a raging whirlpool;	²⁷ Ele atrai as gotas de água, e derrama-as em (forma de) chuva, na cerração.
²⁸ they flow from the clouds that are woven above everything.	²⁸ Caem dás nuvens, abundantemente sobre os homens.
²⁹ If he wills it, he extends the clouds as his tent	²⁹ Quem compreende a extensão das nuvens, os fragores do pavilhão (do Altíssimo)?
³⁰ and shines with his light from above; likewise, he covers the oceans within his tent.	³⁰ Ele estende em volta de si a sua luz desde o alto, e cobre as extremidades do mar.
³¹ For he judges the people by these things, and he gives food to a multitude of mortals.	³¹ Por meio destas coisas exerce os seus juízos sobre os povos, e alimenta abundantemente os mortais (fecundando a terra),
³² Within his hands, he hides the light, and he commands it to come forth again.	³² Nas suas mãos esconde a luz, e manda-lhe que torne de novo.
³³ He announces it to his friend, for it is his possession and he is able to reach out to it.	³³ Faz conhecer a quem ama, que ele é possessão sua, e que pode subir até ela.
