Job 18

1 But Baldad the Suhite responded by saying:	1 Allora Bildad il suchita prese la parola e disse:
2 How long will you throw around words? Understand first, and then let us speak.	2 "Fino a quando andrai a caccia di parole? Rifletti e poi parleremo!
3 Why have we been treated like mules, as if we were unworthy before you?	3 Perché siamo considerati come bestie e passiamo per degli idioti ai tuoi occhi?
4 You, who ruins your own soul in your fury, will the earth be forsaken because of you, and will the cliffs be moved from their place?	4 Tu che ti rodi nella tua rabbia, forse che a causa tua la terra sarà abbandonata, o che la roccia si staccherà dal suo posto?
5 Will not the light of the impious be put out, and the flame of his fire refuse to shine?	5 Sì, la luce del malvagio si spegne e la fiamma del suo focolare non brilla più.
6 Light will become darkness in his tabernacle, and the lamp that is over him will be extinguished.	6 Si oscura la luce nella sua tenda e la lucerna si estingue sopra di lui.
7 His strong steps will be constrained, and his own counsel will cast him down uncontrollably.	7 I suoi passi vigorosi si accorciano, i suoi progetti lo fanno stramazzare.
8 For he has caused his own feet to go into a net, and he has walked into its web.	8 Infatti, con i suoi piedi incappa nella rete e cammina sopra un tranello.
9 His heel will be held in a snare, and thirst will rage against him.	9 Un laccio lo afferra per il tallone, un nodo lo stringe intorno.
10 A trap has been hidden for him in the earth, and a decoy, along his path.	10 Gli è nascosta per terra una fune e una trappola sul sentiero.
11 Horrifying things will terrify him everywhere and will entangle his feet.	11 Da ogni parte lo atterriscono gli spaventi e gli si mettono alle calcagna.
12 Let his strength be diminished by famine, and let starvation invade his ribs.	12 La sua ricchezza si muta in fame e la sfortuna gli si mette a fianco.
13 Let it devour the beauty of his skin; let the ancient death consume his arms.	13 La sua pelle è corrosa dalla malattia; il primogenito della Morte gli consuma le membra.
14 Let his confidence be torn away from his tabernacle, and let ruin trample over him like a king.	14 E' strappato dalla sua tenda dove si sentiva sicuro, per essere trascinato dal Re dei terrori.
15 Let the companions of he who is not, dwell in his tabernacle; let brimstone rain down upon his tabernacle.	15 Il fuoco è posto nella sua tenda; nella sua dimora si sparge lo zolfo.
16 Let his roots be dried up from beneath him, and his harvest be crushed from above.	16 In basso le sue radici si seccheranno; sopra saranno tagliati i suoi rami.
17 Let the memory of him perish from the earth, and let not his name be celebrated in the streets.	17 Il suo ricordo è sparito dalla terra e il suo nome non si udrà più nella contrada.
18 He will expel him from light into darkness, and he will remove him from the world.	18 Lo cacceranno dalla luce alle tenebre e lo bandiranno dall'universo.
19 Neither his offspring, nor his descendents, will exist among his people, nor will there be any remnants in his country.	19 Non avrà né figli né discendenza tra il suo popolo; non vi sarà superstite nella sua dimora.
20 The last will be astonished at his day, and the first will be overcome with horror.	20 Della sua fine stupirà l'Occidente e l'Oriente sarà preso dal brivido.
21 And so, these are the tabernacles of the sinful, and this the place of he who does not know God.	21 Ecco qual è la sorte dell'empio; tale è il destino di chi misconosce Dio".
