NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Hannah then prayed as fol ows: My heart exults in Yahweh, in my God is my strength lifted up, mymouth derides my foes, for I rejoice in your deliverance.	1 Ana pronunciou esta prece: Exulta o meu coração no Senhor, nele se eleva a minha força; a minha boca desafia os meus adversários, porque me alegro na vossa salvação.
2 There is no Holy One like Yahweh, (indeed, there is none but you) no Rock like our God.	2 Ninguém é santo como o Senhor. Não existe outro Deus, além de vós, nem rochedo semelhante ao nosso Deus.
3 Do not keep talking so proudly, let no arrogance come from your mouth, for Yahweh is a wise God, histo weigh up deeds.	3 Não multipliqueis palavras orgulhosas, não saia da vossa boca linguagem arrogante, porque o Senhor é um Deus que tudo sabe; por ele são pesadas as ações.
4 The bow of the mighty has been broken but those who were tottering are now braced with strength.	4 Quebra-se o arco dos fortes, enquanto os fracos se revestem de vigor.
5 The ful fed are hiring themselves out for bread but the hungry need labour no more; the barren womanbears sevenfold but the mother of many is left desolate.	5 Os abastados se assalariam para ganharem o que comer, enquanto os famintos são saciados. Sete vezes dá à luz a estéril, enquanto a mãe de numerosos filhos enlanguesce.
6 Yahweh gives death and life, brings down to Sheol and draws up;	6 O Senhor dá a morte e a vida, faz descer à habitação dos mortos e de lá voltar.
7 Yahweh makes poor and rich, he humbles and also exalts.	7 O Senhor empobrece e enriquece; humilha e exalta.
8 He raises the poor from the dust, he lifts the needy from the dunghil to give them a place with princes,to assign them a seat of honour; for to Yahweh belong the pil ars of the earth, on these he has poised the world.	8 Levanta do pó o mendigo, do esterco retira o indigente, para fazê-los sentar-se entre os nobres e outorgar-lhes um trono de honra, porque do Senhor são as colunas da terra. Sobre elas estabeleceu o mundo.
9 He safeguards the steps of his faithful but the wicked vanish in darkness (for human strength can winno victories).	9 Dirige os passos dos seus fiéis, enquanto os ímpios perecem nas trevas; porque homem algum vence pela força.
10 Yahweh, his enemies are shattered, the Most High thunders in the heavens. Yahweh judges the endsof the earth, he endows his king with power, he raises up the strength of his Anointed.	10 Ó Senhor, sejam esmagados os vossos adversários! Dos céus troveje o Altíssimo contra eles, o Senhor julgue os últimos confins da terra! Dará força ao seu rei, e engrandecerá o poder do seu ungido.
11 Elkanah then went home to Ramah, but the child stayed in Yahweh's service, in the presence of Elithe priest.	11 Elcana voltou para a sua casa em Ramá, e o menino ficou ao serviço do Senhor, junto do sacerdote Heli.
12 Now the sons of Eli were scoundrels; they cared nothing for Yahweh	12 Os filhos de Heli eram maus; não conheciam o Senhor.
13 nor for what was due to the priests from the people. Whenever anyone offered a sacrifice, the priest'sservant would come with a three-pronged fork in his hand while the meat was being cooked;	13 Eis como se comportavam para com o povo: Quando alguém imolava uma vítima, vinha o servo do sacerdote no momento em que se cozia a carne, com um garfo de três dentes,
14 he would thrust this into cauldron or pan, or dish or pot, and the priest claimed for his own whateverthe fork brought up. That was how they behaved with all the Israelites who came there to Shiloh.	14 e metia-o na caldeira, na marmita, na panela ou no tacho, e tudo o que o tridente trazia, tomava-o para o sacerdote. Assim faziam a todos os israelitas que vinham a Silo.
15 The priest's servant would even come up before the fat had been burnt and say to the person whowas making the sacrifice, 'Give the priest some meat for him to roast. He wil not accept boiled meat from you,only raw.'	15 Antes que queimassem a gordura, vinha o servo do sacerdote dizer ao que sacrificava: Dá-me a carne de assar para o sacerdote; ele não aceitará carne cozida, mas unicamente a carne crua.
16 Then, if the person replied, 'Let the fat be burnt first, and then take for yourself whatever you choose,'he would retort, 'No! You must give it to me now or I shal take it by force.'	16 O homem respondia-lhe: É preciso que se queime antes a gordura; depois disto tomarás o que quiseres. Não, respondia o servo, dá-me logo, senão tomarei à força.
17 The young men's sin was very great in Yahweh's eyes, because they treated with contempt theoffering made to Yahweh.	17 Era muito grande a iniqüidade desses moços aos olhos de Deus, porque atraíam o desprezo sobre as ofertas feitas ao Senhor.
18 Samuel was in Yahweh's service, a child wearing a linen loincloth.	18 Entretanto, Samuel, ainda criança, servia diante do Senhor, trajando um efod de linho.
19 His mother used to make him a little coat which she brought him each year when she came up withher husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.	19 Sua mãe fazia-lhe cada ano uma pequena túnica, que lhe levava quando subia com o seu marido para o sacrifício anual.
20 Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife and say, 'May Yahweh grant you an heir by this woman inexchange for the one which she has made over to Yahweh,' and they would go home.	20 Heli abençoava Elcana e sua mulher: Conceda-te o Senhor filhos desta mulher, em recompensa do dom que ela lhe faz! E voltavam para a sua casa.
21 Yahweh visited Hannah; she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile,the child Samuel grew up in Yahweh's presence.	21 O Senhor visitou Ana, e ela concebeu, dando à luz três filhos e duas filhas. E o menino Samuel crescia na companhia do Senhor.
22 Although very old, Eli heard about everything that his sons were doing to all Israel,	22 Heli era muito velho; sabia tudo o que faziam os seus filhos com os israelitas, e como eles dormiam com as mulheres que estavam de serviço à entrada da Tenda da Reunião.
23 and said, 'Why are you behaving as al the people say you are?	23 Por que, dizia-lhes, procedeis desta forma? Sei que todo o povo fala de vossas desordens.
24 No, my sons, what I hear reported by the people of Yahweh is not good.	24 Não façais assim, meus filhos; não são boas as informações que me chegam a vossos respeito. Estais fazendo pecar o povo do Senhor.
25 If one person sins against another, God will be the arbiter, but if he sins against Yahweh, who wilintercede for him?' But they did not listen to their father's words, for Yahweh was bent on kil ing them.	25 Se um homem pecar contra outro, Deus o julga; se ele pecar, porém, contra o Senhor, quem intervirá a seu favor? Mas não ouviam a voz do seu pai, porque Deus os queria perder.
26 Meanwhile, the child Samuel went on growing in stature and in favour both with Yahweh and withpeople.	26 Entretanto, o menino Samuel ia crescendo, e era agradável tanto ao Senhor como aos homens.
27 A man of God came to Eli and said to him, 'This is what Yahweh says, "Did I not reveal myself to yourfather's family when they were in Egypt as slaves in Pharaoh's household?	27 Certo dia, um homem de Deus veio ter com Heli e disse-lhe da parte do Senhor: Não me revelei eu claramente à casa de teu pai, quando eles estavam no Egito ao serviço do faraó?
28 Did I not single him out of al the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, to burn theoffering, to carry the ephod in my presence; and did I not grant al the burnt offerings made by the Israelites toyour father's family?	28 Escolhi os teus dentre todas as tribos de Israel para serem sacerdotes, subirem ao meu altar, queimarem o incenso e vestirem o efod diante de mim. Dei à casa de teu pai todos os sacrifícios oferecidos pelos israelitas.
29 Why do you trample on the offering and on the sacrifice which I have ordered for my Dwelling, andhonour your sons more than me, by growing fat on the best of the offerings of Israel, my people?	29 Por que desprezais os meus sacrifícios e as minhas oblações que estabeleci em minha morada? Fazes mais caso dos teus filhos que de mim, engordando-vos com o melhor de todas as ofertas de meu povo de Israel.
30 Whereas -- this is what Yahweh, God of Israel, declares -- I had promised that your family and yourfather's family would walk in my presence for ever, now, however -- this is what Yahweh declares -- nothing ofthe sort! Those who honour me I honour in my turn, and those who despise me wil be an object of contempt.	30 Por isso, eis o que diz o Senhor, Deus de Israel: Eu tinha dito que a tua casa e a casa de teu pai serviria para sempre diante de mim. Mas agora, diz o Senhor, não será mais assim. Eu honro aqueles que me honram e desprezo os que me desprezam.
31 Be sure, the days are coming when I shal cut off your strength and the strength of your father's family,so that no one in your family wil live to old age.	31 Virão dias em que abaterei o teu vigor e o vigor da casa de teu pai, de tal modo que já não haverá ancião em tua casa.
32 Beside the Dwel ing, you wil see al the benefits that I shall confer on Israel, but no one in your familywil ever live to old age.	32 Israel estará cumulado da alegria, e tu verás a angústia em tua casa. Não haverá jamais ancião em tua família!
33 I shal keep one of you at my altar for his eyes to go blind and his soul to wither, but the bulk of yourfamily wil die by the sword.	33 Entretanto, não cortarei todos os teus do meu altar, para que se consumam de inveja os teus olhos e se desfaleça a tua alma; mas todos os outros morrerão na flor da idade.
34 ' "What happens to your two sons Hophni and Phinehas will be a sign for you: on the same day bothwil die.	34 O que vai acontecer aos teus dois filhos Ofni e Finéias, será para ti um sinal: morrerão ambos no mesmo dia.
35 I shal raise myself a faithful priest, who wil do as I intend and as I desire. I shal build him an enduringHouse and he wil walk in the presence of my Anointed for ever.	35 Suscitarei para mim um sacerdote fiel, que procederá segundo o meu coração e minha vontade. Edificar-lhe-ei uma casa durável, e ele andará sempre diante do meu ungido.
36 The members of your House who survive wil come and beg him on their knees for a silver coin and aloaf of bread and say: Please give me some priestly work, so that I can have a scrap of bread to eat." '	36 Os que sobreviverem de tua família irão prostrar-se diante dele por uma moeda de prata ou por um pedaço de pão, dizendo-lhe: Admiti-me para alguma função sacerdotal, a fim de que eu tenha um bocado de pão para comer.
