1 Hannah then prayed as fol ows: My heart exults in Yahweh, in my God is my strength lifted up, mymouth derides my foes, for I rejoice in your deliverance.	1 Esulta il cuor mio nel Signore, e la mia gloria s’innalza sopra il mio Dio: si è aperta la mia bocca verso de' miei avversarii: perocché mio gaudio si è la salute che vien da te.
2 There is no Holy One like Yahweh, (indeed, there is none but you) no Rock like our God.	2 Non vi ha chi sia santo, come il Signore: anzi nissuno lo è fuori di te, e non vi ha chi sia forte, com’è il Dio nostro.
3 Do not keep talking so proudly, let no arrogance come from your mouth, for Yahweh is a wise God, histo weigh up deeds.	3 Non vogliate far tante parole, vantandovi di cose grandi: non sia più nella vostra bocca l'antico stile: perocché Dio che sa tutto egli è il Signore, ed ei conduce ad effetto i suoi disegni.
4 The bow of the mighty has been broken but those who were tottering are now braced with strength.	4 L’arco de' gran guerrieri si è spezzato, e i deboli si sono cinti di robustezza.
5 The ful fed are hiring themselves out for bread but the hungry need labour no more; the barren womanbears sevenfold but the mother of many is left desolate.	5 Quei che erano primi nell’abbondanza, si sono allogati per aver pane: e quei che pativan la fame, ebbero da satollarsi: fin la sterile ebbe molti parti; e quella che avea molti figli perdè sua virtù.
6 Yahweh gives death and life, brings down to Sheol and draws up;	6 Il Signore dà morte, e rende la vita: conduce al sepolcro, e fuori ne tragge.
7 Yahweh makes poor and rich, he humbles and also exalts.	7 Il Signore dà la povertà, e la ricchezza: umilia ed esalta.
8 He raises the poor from the dust, he lifts the needy from the dunghil to give them a place with princes,to assign them a seat of honour; for to Yahweh belong the pil ars of the earth, on these he has poised the world.	8 Dalla polvere solleva il mendico, e dal letamaio innalza il povero; perchè ei segga insieme co' principi, e occupi un trono di gloria: imperocché del Signore sono i cardini della terra, e sopra di questi posò il mondo.
9 He safeguards the steps of his faithful but the wicked vanish in darkness (for human strength can winno victories).	9 Egli governerà i piedi dei santi suoi: ma gli empii nelle lor tenebre saranno muti: perocché non sarà forte l’uomo pella propria sua forza.
10 Yahweh, his enemies are shattered, the Most High thunders in the heavens. Yahweh judges the endsof the earth, he endows his king with power, he raises up the strength of his Anointed.	10 Il Signore sarà terribile a' suoi avversari, e contro di essi tuonerà dal cielo: il Signore giudicherà la terra quant'essa è grande; e darà l'impero al suo re, ed esalterà la gloria del suo Cristo.
11 Elkanah then went home to Ramah, but the child stayed in Yahweh's service, in the presence of Elithe priest.	11 Elcana poi se n' andò a sua casa a Ramatha: e il fanciullo (Samuele) esercitava il ministero dinanzi al Signore sotto gli occhi di Heli sommo sacerdote.
12 Now the sons of Eli were scoundrels; they cared nothing for Yahweh	12 Ma i figliuoli di Heli, figliuoli di Belial, non conoscevano il Signore,
13 nor for what was due to the priests from the people. Whenever anyone offered a sacrifice, the priest'sservant would come with a three-pronged fork in his hand while the meat was being cooked;	13 Nè l'uffizio de' sacerdoti riguardo al popolo: imperocché immolata che era da chicchessia la vittima, veniva il servo del sacerdote nel tempo che si cuocevan le carni, e aveva in mano una forchetta a tre punte;
14 he would thrust this into cauldron or pan, or dish or pot, and the priest claimed for his own whateverthe fork brought up. That was how they behaved with all the Israelites who came there to Shiloh.	14 E la metteva nel pajuolo, o nella caldaja, o nella pentola o nella marmitta, e tutto quello ch’era tirato su dalla forchetta, lo pigliava per se il sacerdote: così facevano a tutto Israele che andava a Silo.
15 The priest's servant would even come up before the fat had been burnt and say to the person whowas making the sacrifice, 'Give the priest some meat for him to roast. He wil not accept boiled meat from you,only raw.'	15 Similmente prima che facesser bruciare il grasso, veniva il servo del sacerdote, e diceva a colui che faceva immolazione: Dammi della carne da far cuocere pel sacerdote: perocché io non prenderò da te carne cotta, ma cruda.
16 Then, if the person replied, 'Let the fat be burnt first, and then take for yourself whatever you choose,'he would retort, 'No! You must give it to me now or I shal take it by force.'	16 E quegli che faceva l’immolazione, gli diceva: Si faccia oggi prima bruciare il grasso secondo il costume, e poi prendi tutto quello che vorrai. Ma quegli rispondeva, e diceva a lui: No: tu me la darai adesso, altrimenti io me la prenderò per forza.
17 The young men's sin was very great in Yahweh's eyes, because they treated with contempt theoffering made to Yahweh.	17 Il peccato adunque di que' figliuoli era grande formisura negli occhi del Signore: perocché alienavan la gente dal far sacrifizio al Signore.
18 Samuel was in Yahweh's service, a child wearing a linen loincloth.	18 E il giovinetto Samuele esercitava il ministero dinanzi al Signore, cinto di un Ephod di lino.
19 His mother used to make him a little coat which she brought him each year when she came up withher husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.	19 E sua madre gli faceva una piccola tonaca, e gliela portava da una solennità all’altra, andando con suo marito ad offerire il sacrifizio annuale.
20 Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife and say, 'May Yahweh grant you an heir by this woman inexchange for the one which she has made over to Yahweh,' and they would go home.	20 Ed Heli benedissi Elcana, e sua moglie, e disse lui: Il Signore diati prole da questa donna in ricompensa di quella che tu hai imprestata al Signore. Ed eglino se n’andarono a casa loro.
21 Yahweh visited Hannah; she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile,the child Samuel grew up in Yahweh's presence.	21 Il Signore adunque visitò Anna, la quale concepì, e partorì tre figliuoli, e due figlie: e il giovinetto Samuele diventava grande presso il Signore.
22 Although very old, Eli heard about everything that his sons were doing to all Israel,	22 Ma Heli era molto vecchio, e riseppe tutto quel che facevano i suoi figliuoli verso tutto Israele: e come dormirano colle donne, le quali vegliavano alla porta del tabernacolo:
23 and said, 'Why are you behaving as al the people say you are?	23 E disse loro: Perchè fate voi queste cose, cose pessime che io sento sparse per tutto il popolo?
24 No, my sons, what I hear reported by the people of Yahweh is not good.	24 Guardatevene, figliuoli miei: perocché molto cattiva voce è quella che io ho udito, che voi fate prevaricare il popolo del Signore.
25 If one person sins against another, God will be the arbiter, but if he sins against Yahweh, who wilintercede for him?' But they did not listen to their father's words, for Yahweh was bent on kil ing them.	25 Se un uomo pecca contro un altr'uomo, può impetrarsi per lui pietà da Dio: ma se contro Dio pecca un uomo, chi farà orazione per lui? Ma quelli non ascoltaron la voce del padre loro: perchè il Signore voleva uccidergli.
26 Meanwhile, the child Samuel went on growing in stature and in favour both with Yahweh and withpeople.	26 Or il giovinetto Samuele profittava, e cresceva, ed era grato tanto a Dio, come agli uomini.
27 A man of God came to Eli and said to him, 'This is what Yahweh says, "Did I not reveal myself to yourfather's family when they were in Egypt as slaves in Pharaoh's household?	27 Ma un uomo di Dio andò a trovare Heli, e dissegli: Queste cose dice il Signore: non mi feci io svelatamente conoscere alla famiglia del padre tuo, mentre essi erano in Egitto in casa di Faraone?
28 Did I not single him out of al the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, to burn theoffering, to carry the ephod in my presence; and did I not grant al the burnt offerings made by the Israelites toyour father's family?	28 E io lo elessi da tutte le tribù d’Israele per mio sacerdote, perchè salisse al mio altare, e mi bruciasse l'incenso, e portasse l'Ephod dinanzi a me: e alla famiglia del padre tuo diedi porzione di tutto quel che sacrificassero i figliuoli d'Israele.
29 Why do you trample on the offering and on the sacrifice which I have ordered for my Dwelling, andhonour your sons more than me, by growing fat on the best of the offerings of Israel, my people?	29 Per qual motivo avete voi dati de' calci alle mie vittime, e a’ miei doni, che io ordinai che mi fossero offerti nel tempio: e tu hai avuto maggior rispetto pei tuoi figliuoli che per me, col mangiarvi le primizie di tutti i sacrifizi d'Israele mio popolo?
30 Whereas -- this is what Yahweh, God of Israel, declares -- I had promised that your family and yourfather's family would walk in my presence for ever, now, however -- this is what Yahweh declares -- nothing ofthe sort! Those who honour me I honour in my turn, and those who despise me wil be an object of contempt.	30 Per questo dice il Signore Dio d'Israele: Io avea detto e ridetto, che la tua casa, e la casa del padre tuo avrebbe avuto il ministero dinanzi a me in eterno. Ma adesso dice il Signore: Lungi da me tal cosa: perocché chiunque darà gloria a me, far olio glorioso: ma quelli che mi disprezzeranno, saranno abbietti.
31 Be sure, the days are coming when I shal cut off your strength and the strength of your father's family,so that no one in your family wil live to old age.	31 Ecco che viene il tempo, quando io troncherò il tuo braccio, e il braccio della casa del padre tuo, talmente che non si trovi nella casa del padre tuo nissun vecchio.
32 Beside the Dwel ing, you wil see al the benefits that I shall confer on Israel, but no one in your familywil ever live to old age.	32 E vedrai nel tempio il tuo emolo in mezzo a tutte le prosperità d’Israele: e non sarà giammai nissun vecchio in tua casa.
33 I shal keep one of you at my altar for his eyes to go blind and his soul to wither, but the bulk of yourfamily wil die by the sword.	33 Io però non leverò interamente dal mio altare i tuoi discendenti; ma sol perchè vengan meno i tuoi occhi, e si consumi l'anima tua: e una gran parte della tua casa morranno, in arrivando all’età virile.
34 ' "What happens to your two sons Hophni and Phinehas will be a sign for you: on the same day bothwil die.	34 E segno di ciò sarà per te quello che accadrà a' tuoi due figliuoli, Ophni e Phinees: In un sol giorno morranno ambedue.
35 I shal raise myself a faithful priest, who wil do as I intend and as I desire. I shal build him an enduringHouse and he wil walk in the presence of my Anointed for ever.	35 E io mi creerò un sacerdote fedele, il quale servirà secondo il mio cuore, e secondo l’anima mia: e io fonderò a lui una casa durevole, ed egli camminerà sempre dinanzi al mio Cristo.
36 The members of your House who survive wil come and beg him on their knees for a silver coin and aloaf of bread and say: Please give me some priestly work, so that I can have a scrap of bread to eat." '	36 E avverrà che chiunque rimarrà di tua casa, verrà per essere raccomandato affin di ottenere una moneta d'argento, e un pezzo di pane, e dica: Ammettimi, ti prego, a una porzione sacerdotale, perchè io abbia un boccon di pane da mangiare.
