1 Peter, apostle of Jesus Christ, to al those living as aliens in the Dispersion of Pontus, Galatia,Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, who have been chosen,	1 Pietro, apostolo di Gesù Cristo, a coloro che, tra i pellegrini della diaspora del Ponto, della Galazia, della Cappadocia, dell’Asia e della Bitinia, sono gli eletti,
2 in the foresight of God the Father, to be made holy by the Spirit, obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkledwith his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.	2 secondo la prescienza di Dio Padre, mediante la santificazione dello Spirito, per obbedire a Cristo ed essere aspersi dal suo sangue: grazia a voi e pace in misura sempre più abbondante.
3 Blessed be God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in his great mercy has given us a new birthinto a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead	3 Benedetto il Dio e Padre del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, il quale, per sua grande misericordia, ci fece rinascere, risuscitando Gesù Cristo da morte, a una vivente speranza,
4 and into a heritage that can never be spoilt or soiled and never fade away. It is reserved in heaven foryou	4 a una eredità incorruttibile, incontaminata e immarcescibile, riservata nei cieli per voi,
5 who are being kept safe by God's power through faith until the salvation which has been prepared isrevealed at the final point of time.	5 che per la forza di Dio siete custoditi, mediante la fede, in vista della salvezza pronta ormai per esser rivelata nell’ultimo tempo.
6 This is a great joy to you, even though for a short time yet you must bear all sorts of trials;	6 Trasalite di gioia per questo, anche se adesso dovete esser molestati ancora un poco da prove di vario genere,
7 so that the worth of your faith, more valuable than gold, which is perishable even if it has been tested byfire, may be proved -- to your praise and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed.	7 affinché la genuinità della vostra fede, ben più preziosa dell’oro che perisce, ma che pure vien saggiato col fuoco, sia trovata in voi, a lode e gloria e onore, per il tempo della manifestazione di Gesù Cristo.
8 You have not seen him, yet you love him; and stil without seeing him you believe in him and so arealready fil ed with a joy so glorious that it cannot be described;	8 Voi lo amate senza averlo conosciuto; in lui voi ora credete senza averlo visto, mentre esultate d’una gioia ineffabile e gloriosa,
9 and you are sure of the goal of your faith, that is, the salvation of your souls.	9 sicuri come siete di conseguire il fine della vostra fede, cioè la vostra salvezza.
10 This salvation was the subject of the search and investigation of the prophets who spoke of the graceyou were to receive,	10 È appunto su questa salvezza che hanno cercato e indagato i profeti, che pronunciarono i vaticini riguardanti la grazia a voi destinata.
11 searching out the time and circumstances for which the Spirit of Christ, bearing witness in them, wasrevealing the sufferings of Christ and the glories to fol ow them.	11 Essi indagavano quale tempo e quali circostanze indicasse lo Spirito di Cristo, ch’era in loro, quando preannunciava le sofferenze per il Cristo e le glorie conseguenti.
12 It was revealed to them that it was for your sake and not their own that they were acting as servantsdelivering the message which has now been announced to you by those who preached to you the gospelthrough the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even the angels long to catch a glimpse of these things.	12 Fu loro rivelato che, non per se stessi, ma pe voi avevano il compito di preannunciare queste cose che adesso vi furono annunciate da chi vi evangelizzò per opera dello Spirito Santo, mandato dal cielo; cose nelle quali gli angeli stessi bramano figgere lo sguardo.
13 Your minds, then, must be sober and ready for action; put all your hope in the grace brought to you bythe revelation of Jesus Christ.	13 Perciò, succinte le reni del vostro spirito, siate temperanti, abbiate piena speranza nella grazia che vi sarà arrecata al momento della rivelazione di Gesù Cristo.
14 Do not al ow yourselves to be shaped by the passions of your old ignorance,	14 Da figli obbedienti, non conformatevi alle passioni di prima, quando eravate nell’ignoranza;
15 but as obedient children, be yourselves holy in al your activity, after the model of the Holy One whocal s us,	15 ma siate santi anche voi in tutta la vostra condotta, com’è santo colui che vi chiamò;
16 since scripture says, 'Be holy, for I am holy.'	16 poiché sta scritto: Sarete santi, perché io sono santo.
17 And if you address as Father him who judges without favouritism according to each individual's deeds,live out the time of your exile here in reverent awe.	17 E se date il nome di Padre a colui che giudica senza riguardi personali in base all’attività di ciascuno, comportatevi allora con timore, nel tempo del vostro pellegrinaggio.
18 For you know that the price of your ransom from the futile way of life handed down from yourancestors was paid, not in anything perishable like silver or gold,	18 Sapete bene che non a prezzo di beni corruttibili, con oro o argento, foste riscattati dalla vana forma di vita ereditata dai padri,
19 but in precious blood as of a blameless and spotless lamb, Christ.	19 ma a prezzo del sangue prezioso dell’agnello illibato e immacolato, Cristo.
20 He was marked out before the world was made, and was revealed at the final point of time for yoursake.	20 Egli fu sì predestinato avanti la costituzione del mondo, ma venne manifestato in questi ultimi tempi per voi,
21 Through him you now have faith in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory for thisvery purpose -- that your faith and hope should be in God.	21 voi che, per mezzo suo, credete in un Dio che lo risuscitò da morte e lo glorificò, cosicchè la vostra fede è anche speranza in Dio.
22 Since by your obedience to the truth you have purified yourselves so that you can experience thegenuine love of brothers, love each other intensely from the heart;	22 Una volta purificate le vostre anime nell’obbedienza alla verità in vista di un fraterno amore senza finzione, amatevi gli uni gli altri con cuore puro, intensamente,
23 for your new birth was not from any perishable seed but from imperishable seed, the living andenduring Word of God.	23 essendo figli procreati non da un seme corruttibile; ma da uno incorruttibile, per mezzo della parola vivente e stabile di Dio.
24 For al humanity is grass, and al its beauty like the wild flower's. As grass withers, the flower fades,	24 Difatti ogni carne è come erba e ogni sua gloria come fiore d’erba; seccò l’erba e il fiore cadde, ma la parola del Signore rimane in eterno.
25 but the Word of the Lord remains for ever. And this Word is the Good News that has been brought toyou.	25 Questa è appunto la parola che fu evangelizzata in mezzo a voi.
