NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The first covenant also had its laws governing worship and its sanctuary, a sanctuary on this earth.	1 La Primera Alianza tenía un ritual para el culto y un santuario terrestre.
2 There was a tent which comprised two compartments: the first, in which the lamp-stand, the table andthe loaves of permanent offering were kept, was cal ed the Holy Place;	2 En él se instaló un primer recinto, donde estaban el candelabro, la mesa y los panes de la oblación: era el lugar llamado Santo.
3 then beyond the second veil, a second compartment which was called the Holy of Holies	3 Luego, detrás del segundo velo había otro recinto, llamado el Santo de los santos.
4 to which belonged the gold altar of incense, and the ark of the covenant, plated al over with gold. Inthis were kept the gold jar containing the manna, Aaron's branch that grew the buds, and the tables of thecovenant.	4 Allí estaban el altar de oro para los perfumes y el Arca de la Alianza, toda recubierta de oro, en la cual había un cofre de oro con el maná, la vara de Aarón que había florecido y las tablas de la alianza.
5 On top of it were the glorious winged creatures, overshadowing the throne of mercy. This is not the timeto go into detail about this.	5 Sobre ella estaban los Querubines de la Gloria, que cubrían el Propiciatorio con la sombra de sus alas. Pero no es este el momento de entrar en detalles.
6 Under these provisions, priests go regularly into the outer tent to carry out their acts of worship,	6 Dentro de este ordenamiento, los sacerdotes entran siempre al primer recinto para celebrar el culto.
7 but the second tent is entered only once a year, and then only by the high priest who takes in the bloodto make an offering for his own and the people's faults of inadvertence.	7 Pero al segundo, sólo entra una vez al año el Sumo Sacerdote, llevando consigo la sangre que ofrece por sus faltas y las del pueblo.
8 By this, the Holy Spirit means us to see that as long as the old tent stands, the way into the holy placeis not opened up;	8 El Espíritu Santo da a entender con esto que el camino del Santuario no es accesible mientras subsista el primer recinto.
9 it is a symbol for this present time. None of the gifts and sacrifices offered under these regulations canpossibly bring any worshipper to perfection in his conscience;	9 Esto es un símbolo para el tiempo presente: en efecto, allí se ofrecen dones y sacrificios que no pueden hacer perfecto en su conciencia al que practica el culto.
10 they are rules about outward life, connected with food and drink and washing at various times, whichare in force only until the time comes to set things right.	10 Sólo se trata de prescripciones externas sobre alimentos, bebidas y abluciones diversas, válidas hasta el momento de la renovación.
11 But now Christ has come, as the high priest of al the blessings which were to come. He has passedthrough the greater, the more perfect tent, not made by human hands, that is, not of this created order;	11 Cristo, en cambio, ha venido como Sumo Sacerdote de los bienes futuros. El, a través de una Morada más excelente y perfecta que la antigua –no construida por manos humanas, es decir, no de este mundo creado–
12 and he has entered the sanctuary once and for all, taking with him not the blood of goats and bulcalves, but his own blood, having won an eternal redemption.	12 entró de una vez por todas en el Santuario, no por la sangre de chivos y terneros, sino por su propia sangre, obteniéndonos así una redención eterna.
13 The blood of goats and bul s and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkled on those who have incurreddefilement, may restore their bodily purity.	13 Porque si la sangre de chivos y toros y la ceniza de ternera, con que se rocía a los que están contaminados por el pecado, los santifica, obteniéndoles la pureza externa,
14 How much more wil the blood of Christ, who offered himself, blameless as he was, to God throughthe eternal Spirit, purify our conscience from dead actions so that we can worship the living God.	14 ¡cuánto más la sangre de Cristo, que por otra del Espíritu eterno se ofreció sin mancha a Dios, purificará nuestra conciencia de las obras que llevan a la muerte, para permitirnos tributar culto al Dios viviente!
15 This makes him the mediator of a new covenant, so that, now that a death has occurred to redeem thesins committed under an earlier covenant, those who have been cal ed to an eternal inheritance may receive thepromise.	15 Por eso, Cristo es mediador de una Nueva Alianza entre Dios y los hombres, a fin de que, habiendo muerto para redención de los pecados cometidos en la primera Alianza, los que son llamados reciban la herencia eterna que ha sido prometida.
16 Now wherever a wil is in question, the death of the testator must be established;	16 Porque para que se cumpla un testamento es necesario que muera el testador:
17 a testament comes into effect only after a death, since it has no force while the testator is stil alive.	17 mientras se vive, el testamento no vale, y sólo a su muerte entra en vigor.
18 That is why even the earlier covenant was inaugurated with blood,	18 De allí que tampoco la primera Alianza fuera inaugurada sin derramamiento de sangre.
19 and why, after Moses had promulgated al the commandments of the Law to the people, he took thecalves' blood, the goats' blood and some water, and with these he sprinkled the book itself and all the people,using scarlet wool and hyssop;	19 Efectivamente, cuando Moisés promulgó delante de todo el pueblo cada uno de los mandamientos escritos en la Ley, tomó la sangre de novillos y chivos –junto con el agua, la lana escarlata y el hisopo– y roció el Libro y también a todo el pueblo,
20 saying as he did so: This is the blood of the covenant that God has made with you.	20 diciendo: "Esta es la sangre de la Alianza que Dios ha establecido con ustedes".
21 And he sprinkled both the tent and all the liturgical vessels with blood in the same way.	21 De la misma manera, roció con sangre la Morada y todos los objetos del culto.
22 In fact, according to the Law, practical y every purification takes place by means of blood; and if thereis no shedding of blood, there is no remission.	22 Además, según prescribe la Ley, casi todas las purificaciones deben hacerse con sangre, ya que no hay remisión de pecados sin derramamiento de sangre.
23 Only the copies of heavenly things are purified in this way; the heavenly things themselves have to bepurified by a higher sort of sacrifice than this.	23 Ahora bien, si las figuras de las realidades celestiales debieron ser purificadas de esa manera, era necesario que esas mismas realidades también lo fueran, pero con sacrificios muy superiores.
24 It is not as though Christ had entered a man-made sanctuary which was merely a model of the realone; he entered heaven itself, so that he now appears in the presence of God on our behalf.	24 Cristo, en efecto, no entró en un Santuario erigido por manos humanas –simple figura del auténtico Santuario– sino en el cielo, para presentarse delante de Dios en favor nuestro.
25 And he does not have to offer himself again and again, as the high priest goes into the sanctuary yearafter year with the blood that is not his own,	25 Y no entró para ofrecerse así mismo muchas veces, como lo hace el Sumo Sacerdote que penetra cada año en el Santuario con una sangre que no es la suya.
26 or else he would have had to suffer over and over again since the world began. As it is, he has madehis appearance once and for al , at the end of the last age, to do away with sin by sacrificing himself.	26 Porque en ese caso, hubiera tenido que padecer muchas veces desde la creación del mundo. En cambio, ahora él se ha manifestado una sola vez, en la consumación de los tiempos, para abolir el pecado por medio de su Sacrificio.
27 Since human beings die only once, after which comes judgement,	27 Y así como el destino de los hombres es morir una sola vez, después de lo cual viene el Juicio,
28 so Christ too, having offered himself only once to bear the sin of many, will manifest himself a secondtime, sin being no more, to those who are waiting for him, to bring them salvation.	28 así también Cristo, después de haberse ofrecido una sola vez para quitar los pecados de la multitud, aparecerá por segunda vez, ya no en relación con el pecado, sino para salvar a los que lo esperan.
