2 Timothy 1

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 From Paul, apostle of Christ Jesus through the wil of God in accordance with his promise of life in ChristJesus,	1 Paul, apôtre du Christ Jésus par la volonté de Dieu, pour annoncer la promesse de la vie quiest dans le Christ Jésus,
2 to Timothy, dear son of mine. Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Christ Jesus ourLord.	2 à Timothée mon enfant bien-aimé, grâce, miséricorde, paix de par Dieu le Père et le ChristJésus notre Seigneur.
3 Night and day I thank God whom I serve with a pure conscience as my ancestors did. I remember you inmy prayers constantly night and day;	3 Je rends grâce à Dieu que je sers, à la suite de mes ancêtres, avec une conscience pure,lorsque, sans cesse, nuit et jour, je fais mémoire de toi dans mes prières.
4 I remember your tears and long to see you again to complete my joy.	4 En me rappelant tes larmes, je brûle du désir de te revoir, afin d'être rempli de joie.
5 I also remember your sincere faith, a faith which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois, and your motherEunice, and I am sure dwel s also in you.	5 J'évoque le souvenir de la foi sans détours qui est en toi, foi qui, d'abord, résida dans le coeurde ta grand'mère Loïs et de ta mère Eunice et qui, j'en suis convaincu, réside également en toi.
6 That is why I am reminding you now to fan into a flame the gift of God that you possess through thelaying on of my hands.	6 C'est pourquoi je t'invite à raviver le don spirituel que Dieu a déposé en toi par l'imposition demes mains.
7 God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but the Spirit of power and love and self-control.	7 Car ce n'est pas un esprit de crainte que Dieu nous a donné, mais un Esprit de force, d'amouret de maîtrise de soi.
8 So you are never to be ashamed of witnessing to our Lord, or ashamed of me for being his prisoner; butshare in my hardships for the sake of the gospel, relying on the power of God	8 Ne rougis donc pas du témoignage à rendre à notre Seigneur, ni de moi son prisonnier, maissouffre plutôt avec moi pour l'Evangile, soutenu par la force de Dieu,
9 who has saved us and called us to be holy -- not because of anything we ourselves had done but for hisown purpose and by his own grace. This grace had already been granted to us, in Christ Jesus, before thebeginning of time,	9 qui nous a sauvés et nous a appelés d'un saint appel, non en considération de nos oeuvres,mais conformément à son propre dessein et à sa grâce. A nous donnée avant tous les siècles dans le Christ Jésus,
10 but it has been revealed only by the appearing of our Saviour Christ Jesus. He has abolished death,and he has brought to light immortality and life through the gospel,	10 cette grâce a été maintenant manifestée par l'Apparition de notre Sauveur le Christ Jésus, quia détruit la mort et fait resplendir la vie et l'immortalité par le moyen de l'Evangile,
11 in whose service I have been made herald, apostle and teacher.	11 au service duquel j'ai été établi, moi, héraut, apôtre et docteur.
12 That is why I am experiencing my present sufferings; but I am not ashamed, because I know in whom Ihave put my trust, and I have no doubt at all that he is able to safeguard until that Day what I have entrusted tohim.	12 C'est à cause de cela que je connais cette nouvelle épreuve, mais je n'en rougis pas, car jesais en qui j'ai mis ma foi et j'ai la conviction qu'il est capable de garder mon dépôt jusqu'à ce Jour-là.
13 Keep as your pattern the sound teaching you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are inChrist Jesus.	13 Prends pour norme les saines paroles que tu as entendues de moi, dans la foi et l'amour duChrist Jésus.
14 With the help of the Holy Spirit who dwel s in us, look after that precious thing given in trust.	14 Garde le bon dépôt avec l'aide de l'Esprit Saint qui habite en nous.
15 As you know, Phygelus and Hermogenes and al the others in Asia have deserted me.	15 Tu le sais, tous ceux d'Asie, parmi lesquels Phygèle et Hermogène, se sont détournés de moi.
16 I hope the Lord wil be kind to al the family of Onesiphorus, because he has often been a comfort tome and has never been ashamed of my chains.	16 Que le Seigneur fasse miséricorde à la famille d'Onésiphore, car souvent il m'a réconforté, etil n'a pas rougi de mes chaînes;
17 On the contrary, as soon as he reached Rome, he searched hard for me and found me.	17 au contraire, à son arrivée à Rome, il m'a recherché activement et m'a découvert.
18 May the Lord grant him to find the Lord's mercy on that Day. You know better than anyone else howmuch he helped me at Ephesus.	18 Que le Seigneur lui donne d'obtenir miséricorde auprès du Seigneur en ce Jour-là. Quant auxservices qu'il m'a rendus, à Ephèse, tu les connais mieux que personne.
