2 Timothy 1

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 From Paul, apostle of Christ Jesus through the wil of God in accordance with his promise of life in ChristJesus,	1 Pablo, Apóstol de Jesucristo, por la voluntad de Dios, para anunciar la promesa de Vida que está en Cristo Jesús,
2 to Timothy, dear son of mine. Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Christ Jesus ourLord.	2 saluda a Timoteo, su hijo muy querido. Te deseo la gracia, la misericordia y la paz que proceden de Dios Padre y de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
3 Night and day I thank God whom I serve with a pure conscience as my ancestors did. I remember you inmy prayers constantly night and day;	3 Doy gracias a Dios, a quien sirvo con una conciencia pura al igual que mis antepasados, recordándote constantemente, de día y de noche, en mis oraciones.
4 I remember your tears and long to see you again to complete my joy.	4 Al acordarme de tus lágrimas, siento un gran deseo de verte, para que mi felicidad sea completa.
5 I also remember your sincere faith, a faith which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois, and your motherEunice, and I am sure dwel s also in you.	5 Porque tengo presente la sinceridad de tu fe, esa fe que tuvieron tu abuela Loide y tu madre Eunice, y estoy convencido de que tú también tienes.
6 That is why I am reminding you now to fan into a flame the gift of God that you possess through thelaying on of my hands.	6 Por eso te recomiendo que reavives el don de Dios que has recibido por la imposición de mis manos.
7 God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but the Spirit of power and love and self-control.	7 Porque el Espíritu que Dios nos ha dado no es un espíritu de temor, sino de fortaleza, de amor y de sobriedad.
8 So you are never to be ashamed of witnessing to our Lord, or ashamed of me for being his prisoner; butshare in my hardships for the sake of the gospel, relying on the power of God	8 No te avergüences del testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni tampoco de mí, que soy su prisionero. Al contrario, comparte conmigo los sufrimientos que es necesario padecer por Evangelio, animado con la fortaleza de Dios.
9 who has saved us and called us to be holy -- not because of anything we ourselves had done but for hisown purpose and by his own grace. This grace had already been granted to us, in Christ Jesus, before thebeginning of time,	9 El nos salvó y nos eligió con su santo llamado, no por nuestras obras, sino por su propia iniciativa y por la gracia: esa gracia que nos concedió en Cristo Jesús, desde toda la eternidad,
10 but it has been revealed only by the appearing of our Saviour Christ Jesus. He has abolished death,and he has brought to light immortality and life through the gospel,	10 y que ahora se ha revelado en la Manifestación de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo. Porque él destruyó la muerte e hizo brillar la vida incorruptible, mediante la Buena Noticia,
11 in whose service I have been made herald, apostle and teacher.	11 de la cual he sido constituido heraldo, Apóstol y maestro.
12 That is why I am experiencing my present sufferings; but I am not ashamed, because I know in whom Ihave put my trust, and I have no doubt at all that he is able to safeguard until that Day what I have entrusted tohim.	12 Por eso soporto esta prueba. Pero no me avergüenzo, porque sé en quien he puesto mi confianza, y estoy convencido de que él es capaz de conservar hasta aquel Día el bien que me ha encomendado.
13 Keep as your pattern the sound teaching you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are inChrist Jesus.	13 Toma como norma las saludables lecciones de fe y de amor a Cristo Jesús que has escuchado de mí.
14 With the help of the Holy Spirit who dwel s in us, look after that precious thing given in trust.	14 Conserva lo que se te ha confiado, con la ayuda del Espíritu Santo que habita en nosotros.
15 As you know, Phygelus and Hermogenes and al the others in Asia have deserted me.	15 Ya sabes que todos los de Asia se apartaron de mí, entre ellos Figelo y Hermógenes.
16 I hope the Lord wil be kind to al the family of Onesiphorus, because he has often been a comfort tome and has never been ashamed of my chains.	16 Que el Señor tenga misericordia de la familia de Onesíforo, porque él muchas veces me ha reconfortado y no se avergonzó de que yo estuviera preso.
17 On the contrary, as soon as he reached Rome, he searched hard for me and found me.	17 Por el contrario, desde que llegó a Roma, no dejó de buscarme hasta que me encontró.
18 May the Lord grant him to find the Lord's mercy on that Day. You know better than anyone else howmuch he helped me at Ephesus.	18 Que Dios, en aquel Día, le permita alcanzar misericordia delante del Señor. Tú conoces mejor que nadie los servicios que él me prestó en Efeso.
