1 From Paul, apostle of Christ Jesus through the wil of God in accordance with his promise of life in ChristJesus,	1 Pablo, apóstol de Cristo Jesús por voluntad de Dios para anunciar la Promesa de vida que está en Cristo Jesús,
2 to Timothy, dear son of mine. Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Christ Jesus ourLord.	2 a Timoteo, hijo querido. Gracia, misericordia y paz de parte de Dios Padre y de Cristo Jesús Señor nuestro.
3 Night and day I thank God whom I serve with a pure conscience as my ancestors did. I remember you inmy prayers constantly night and day;	3 Doy gracias a Dios, a quien, como mis antepasados, rindo culto con una conciencia pura, cuando continuamente, noche y día, me acuerdo de ti en mis oraciones.
4 I remember your tears and long to see you again to complete my joy.	4 Tengo vivos deseos de verte, al acordarme de tus lágrimas, para llenarme de alegría.
5 I also remember your sincere faith, a faith which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois, and your motherEunice, and I am sure dwel s also in you.	5 Pues evoco el recuerdo de la fe sincera que tú tienes, fe que arraigó primero en tu abuela Loida y en tu madre Eunice, y sé que también ha arraigado en ti.
6 That is why I am reminding you now to fan into a flame the gift of God that you possess through thelaying on of my hands.	6 Por esto te recomiendo que reavives el carisma de Dios que está en ti por la imposición de mis manos.
7 God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but the Spirit of power and love and self-control.	7 Porque no nos dio el Señor a nosotros un espíritu de timidez, sino de fortaleza, de caridad y de templanza.
8 So you are never to be ashamed of witnessing to our Lord, or ashamed of me for being his prisoner; butshare in my hardships for the sake of the gospel, relying on the power of God	8 No te avergüences, pues, ni del testimonio que has de dar de nuestro Señor, ni de mí, su prisionero; sino, al contrario, soporta conmigo los sufrimientos por el Evangelio, ayudado por la fuerza de Dios,
9 who has saved us and called us to be holy -- not because of anything we ourselves had done but for hisown purpose and by his own grace. This grace had already been granted to us, in Christ Jesus, before thebeginning of time,	9 que nos ha salvado y nos ha llamado con una vocación santa, no por nuestras obras, sino por su propia determinación y por su gracia que nos dio desde toda la eternidad en Cristo Jesús,
10 but it has been revealed only by the appearing of our Saviour Christ Jesus. He has abolished death,and he has brought to light immortality and life through the gospel,	10 y que se ha manifestado ahora con la Manifestación de nuestro Salvador Cristo Jesús, quien ha destruido la muerte y ha hecho irradiar vida e inmortalidad por medio del Evangelio
11 in whose service I have been made herald, apostle and teacher.	11 para cuyo servicio he sido yo constituido heraldo, apóstol y maestro.
12 That is why I am experiencing my present sufferings; but I am not ashamed, because I know in whom Ihave put my trust, and I have no doubt at all that he is able to safeguard until that Day what I have entrusted tohim.	12 Por este motivo estoy soportando estos sufrimientos; pero no me avergüenzo, porque yo sé bien en quién tengo puesta mi fe, y estoy convencido de que es poderoso para guardar mi depósito hasta aquel Día.
13 Keep as your pattern the sound teaching you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are inChrist Jesus.	13 Ten por norma las palabras sanas que oíste de mí en la fe y en la caridad de Cristo Jesús.
14 With the help of the Holy Spirit who dwel s in us, look after that precious thing given in trust.	14 Conserva el buen depósito mediante el Espíritu Santo que habita en nosotros.
15 As you know, Phygelus and Hermogenes and al the others in Asia have deserted me.	15 Ya sabes tú que todos los de Asia me han abandonado, y entre ellos Figelo y Hermógenes.
16 I hope the Lord wil be kind to al the family of Onesiphorus, because he has often been a comfort tome and has never been ashamed of my chains.	16 Que el Señor conceda misericordia a la familia de Onesíforo, pues me alivió muchas veces y no se avergonzó de mis cadenas,
17 On the contrary, as soon as he reached Rome, he searched hard for me and found me.	17 sino que, en cuanto llegó a Roma, me buscó solícitamente y me encontró.
18 May the Lord grant him to find the Lord's mercy on that Day. You know better than anyone else howmuch he helped me at Ephesus.	18 Concédale el Señor encontrar misericordia ante el Señor aquel Día. Además, cuántos buenos servicios me prestó en Efeso, tú lo sabes mejor.
