NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The portion of the tribe of Manasseh, who was in fact Joseph's first-born -- went to Machir, Manasseh'sfirst-born, father of Gilead, for he was a warrior; he had Gilead and Bashan.	1 También a la tribu de Manasés le tocó en suerte una parte del territorio, porque él era el primogénito de José. Pero Maquir, primogénito de Manasés y padre de Galaad, como era un hombre belicoso, ya había recibido la región de Galaad y la de Basán,
2 The other sons of Manasseh had theirs, by clans: for the sons of Abiezer, for the sons of Helek, for thesons of Asriel, for the sons of Shechem, for the sons of Hepher, and for the sons of Shemida: these were themale children of Manasseh son of Joseph, by clans.	2 y por eso la suerte correspondió a los otros clanes de los hijos de Manasés, a saber: a los hijos de Abiézer, a los hijos de Jelec, a los hijos de Asriel, a los hijos de Sequém, a los hijos de Semidá. Estos eran los hijos varones de Manasés, hijo de José, con sus respectivos clanes.
3 Zelophehad son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, had no sons but onlydaughters, whose names were these: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.	3 Pero Selofjad –hijo de Jéfer hijo de Galaad, hijo de Maquir, hijo de Manasés– no tenía hijos varones. Sus hijas se llamaban: Majlá, Noá, Joglá, Milcá y Tirsá.
4 These approached the priest Eleazar, Joshua son of Nun and the leaders, and said, 'Yahweh orderedMoses to give us a heritage among our brothers.' In compliance with Yahweh's order, therefore, they were given a heritage among their father's brothers.	4 Estas se presentaron al sacerdote Eleazar, a Josué hijo de Nun, y a los jefes, y les dijeron : «El Señor ordenó a Moisés que nos diera una herencia entre nuestros hermanos». Y conforme a la orden del Señor, se les dio una herencia entre los hermanos de su padre.
5 In this way ten portions fel to Manasseh, apart from Gilead and Bashan lying on the further side of theJordan,	5 Así Manasés obtuvo en suerte diez porciones de territorio, además de la región de Galaad y de Basán, que está al otro lado del Jordán,
6 since Manasseh's daughters received a heritage as well as his sons. Gilead itself belonged toManasseh's other sons.	6 ya que las hijas de Manasés recibieron una herencia entre sus hijos. La región de Galaad pertenecía a los otros hijos de Manasés.
7 On the side of Asher, the frontier of Manasseh was the Michmethath, which is opposite Shechem, andthence continued to the right to Jashib, which is at the spring of Tappuah.	7 La frontera de Manasés, por el lado de ser, era Micmetat, que está enfrente de Siquem; luego seguía hacia el sur, hasta Iasib, la fuente de Tapúaj.
8 The territory of Tappuah belonged to Manasseh, but Tappuah on Manasseh's border belonged to thesons of Ephraim.	8 El territorio de Tapúaj pertenecía a Manasés, mientras que Tapúaj –en los límites de Manasés– pertenecía a los efraimitas.
9 The boundary went down to the Torrent of Kanah; south of the Torrent were the towns of Ephraim,excluding those owned by Ephraim among the towns of Manasseh; the boundary of Manasseh was north of theTorrent and reached as far as the sea.	9 Luego la frontera bajaba al torrente de Caná e iba a terminar en el mar. Al sur del torrente hay unas ciudades de Efraím en medio de las ciudades de Manasés, y el territorio de Manasés se encuentra al norte del torrente.
10 The south belonged to Ephraim and the north to Manasseh and reached as far as the sea; theytouched Asher to the north and Issachar to the east.	10 Al sur el territorio pertenecía a Efraím y al norte a Manasés; el mar les servía de frontera, y lindaban con Aser por el norte, y con Isacar por el este.
11 With Issachar and Asher, Manasseh shared Beth-Shean and its dependent towns, Ibleam and itsdependent towns, the inhabitants of Dor and of its dependent towns, the inhabitants of Taanach and Megiddoand of their dependent towns: the Three of the Slopes.	11 Además, Manasés tenía en Isacar y en Aser a Bet Seán, Ibleam y Dor, con sus respectivas ciudades dependientes; y a los habitantes de En Dor, de Taanac y de Meguido –las tres alturas– con sus respectivas ciudades dependientes.
12 But because the sons of Manasseh could not take possession of these towns, the Canaanitesmanaged to live on in that territory.	12 Los hijos de Manasés no lograron conquistar esas ciudades, y los cananeos pudieron permanecer en aquella región.
13 When, however, the Israelites became stronger, they subjected the Canaanites to forced labour,though they never dispossessed them.	13 Pero después, cuando los israelitas se hicieron más fuertes, obligaron a los cananeos a pagar tributo, aunque no llegaron a desposeerlos.
14 The sons of Joseph spoke as follows to Joshua, 'Why have you given me only one share, only oneportion, as heritage, when I am a numerous people, since Yahweh has so blessed me?'	14 Los hijos de José dijeron a Josué: «¿Por qué nos has asignado como herencia en el sorteo una sola porción de territorio, siendo nosotros un pueblo numeroso, ya que el Señor nos ha bendecido tanto?»
15 Joshua replied, 'If your people are so many, go up to the wooded area and clear space for yourselvesin the area belonging to the Perizzites and Rephaim, since the highlands of Ephraim are too small for you.'	15 Entonces Josué les respondió: «Si son un pueblo tan numeroso, suban a los bosques y talen allí a su gusto en la región de los perizitas y de los refaitas, porque la montaña de Efraím es demasiado estrecha para ustedes».
16 The sons of Joseph replied, 'The highlands are not enough for us, and what is more, al theCanaanites living on the land of the plain have iron chariots, so do those in Beth-Shean and its dependenttowns, and those in the plain of Jezreel.'	16 Los hijos de José dijeron: «La montaña no nos basta, y en las llanuras todos los cananeos tienen carros de hierro, tanto los de Bet Seán y sus ciudades dependientes, como los de la llanura de Izreel».
17 Joshua said to the House of Joseph, to Ephraim and to Manasseh, 'You are a numerous people andyour strength is great; you wil not only have one share,	17 Josué respondió a la casa de José, es decir, a Efraím y Manasés: «Ustedes son un pueblo numeroso y tienen mucha fuerza. No tendrán solamente una porción,
18 but a mountain wil be yours as well; even if it is a forest, you can clear it and its territories will beyours. And you will dispossess the Canaanites, although they have iron chariots and although they are strong.'	18 porque la montaña les pertenecerá. Y si ella está cubierta de bosques, la talarán y será de ustedes hasta sus límites, ya que desposeerán a los cananeos, por más que tengan carros de hierro y sean muy fuertes.
