NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 The portion of the sons of Joseph started on the east at the Jordan opposite Jericho (the Waters ofJericho) through the desert rising from Jericho into the highlands of Bethel;	1 Uscì quindi la sorte per i figli di Giuseppe; dal Giordano di Gerico verso le acque di Gerico ad est e il deserto che sale da Gerico alla montagna di Betel.
2 from Bethel it went to Luz, and on towards the frontier of the Archites at Ataroth;	2 Il confine usciva da Betel-Luza e passava per i confini degli Architi ad Atarot.
3 then passed downwards and westwards to the frontier of the Japhletites as far as the border of LowerBeth-Horon and on to Gezer, and reached as far as the sea.	3 Scendeva ad ovest verso il confine degli Iafletiti, fino ai confini di Bet-Oron inferiore e sino a Ghezer, per terminare al mare.
4 Such was the heritage of the sons of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim.	4 Tale fu il possesso che si divisero i figli di Giuseppe, Manasse ed Efraim.
5 As regards the territory of the sons of Ephraim, by clans, the frontier of their heritage ran from Ataroth-Arach to Upper Beth-Horon;	5 Ecco la frontiera dei figli di Efraim secondo le loro famiglie: il confine del loro possesso, da est, era da Atarot a Bet-Oron superiore,
6 the frontier then reached as far as the sea . . . the Michmethath in the north, and the frontier turnedeast to Tanaath-Shiloh which it crossed in an easterly direction to Janoah;	6 e il confine terminava al mare. Micmetat a nord; quindi il confine piegava verso oriente a Taanat-Silo, da dove passava, ad ovest, in direzione di Ianoach;
7 it ran down to Ataroth and Naarah, touched Jericho and ended at the Jordan.	7 da Ianoach scendeva ad Atarot e Naara e toccava Gerico per terminare al Giordano.
8 From Tappuah, the frontier ran westwards to the Torrent of Kanah and reached as far as the sea. Suchwas the heritage of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim, by clans,	8 Da Tappuach il confine, ad ovest, andava al torrente Kana e terminava al mare. Questa è la porzione dei figli di Efraim secondo le loro famiglie.
9 apart from the towns reserved for the sons of Ephraim inside the heritage of the sons of Manasseh, althese towns and their villages.	9 Oltre le città riservate ai figli di Efraim in mezzo alla porzione dei figli di Manasse: tutte queste città e i loro villaggi.
10 The Canaanites living in Gezer were not driven out; they have remained in Ephraim to the presentday but are obliged to do forced labour.	10 Non scacciarono però i Cananei che abitavano Ghezer, perciò i Cananei sono rimasti in mezzo ad Efraim sino ad oggi, soggetti a tributo.
