1 The portion of the sons of Joseph started on the east at the Jordan opposite Jericho (the Waters ofJericho) through the desert rising from Jericho into the highlands of Bethel;	1 L’héritage des fils de Joseph commençait à l’est du côté du Jourdain, à Jéricho (aux sources de Jéricho). Il comportait le désert qui s’étend de Jéricho à Béthel dans la montagne.
2 from Bethel it went to Luz, and on towards the frontier of the Archites at Ataroth;	2 Il s’étendait de Béthel vers Louz et touchait la frontière des Arkites à Atarot.
3 then passed downwards and westwards to the frontier of the Japhletites as far as the border of LowerBeth-Horon and on to Gezer, and reached as far as the sea.	3 Il se prolongeait à l’ouest vers la frontière des Yaflétites jusqu’à la frontière de Beth-Horon-le-Bas et jusqu’à Guézer, il se terminait à la mer.
4 Such was the heritage of the sons of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim.	4 Voilà l’héritage de Manassé et Éphraïm, fils de Joseph.
5 As regards the territory of the sons of Ephraim, by clans, the frontier of their heritage ran from Ataroth-Arach to Upper Beth-Horon;	5 Pour le territoire des clans d’Éphraïm, la frontière de leur héritage passait à Atrot-Arak, à Beth-Horon-le-Haut,
6 the frontier then reached as far as the sea . . . the Michmethath in the north, and the frontier turnedeast to Tanaath-Shiloh which it crossed in an easterly direction to Janoah;	6 et se terminait à la mer. Au nord se trouvait le Mikmétat. La frontière tournait alors à l’est vers Taanat-Silo et traversait à l’est en direction de Yanoa.
7 it ran down to Ataroth and Naarah, touched Jericho and ended at the Jordan.	7 Elle descendait de Yanoa vers Atarot et Naara, passait à Jéricho pour s’achever au Jourdain.
8 From Tappuah, the frontier ran westwards to the Torrent of Kanah and reached as far as the sea. Suchwas the heritage of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim, by clans,	8 De Tapoua, la frontière continuait vers l’ouest jusqu’au torrent de Kana et s’achevait à la mer. Voilà l’héritage des clans de la tribu d’Éphraïm,
9 apart from the towns reserved for the sons of Ephraim inside the heritage of the sons of Manasseh, althese towns and their villages.	9 en plus des villes (villes et villages) qui furent réservées aux fils d’Éphraïm à l’intérieur de l’héritage de la tribu de Manassé.
10 The Canaanites living in Gezer were not driven out; they have remained in Ephraim to the presentday but are obliged to do forced labour.	10 Cependant ils ne purent chasser les Cananéens qui habitaient à Guézer; ceux-ci sont restés au milieu d’Éphraïm jusqu’à ce jour, mais ils sont soumis à la corvée.
