NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 The portion of the sons of Joseph started on the east at the Jordan opposite Jericho (the Waters ofJericho) through the desert rising from Jericho into the highlands of Bethel;	1 Cecidit quoque sors filiorum Ioseph ab Iordane contra Ie richo et aquas eius ab oriente, solitudo, quae ascendit de Iericho ad montem Bethel
2 from Bethel it went to Luz, and on towards the frontier of the Archites at Ataroth;	2 et egreditur de Bethel Luz transitque per terminum Arachitarum in Ataroth
3 then passed downwards and westwards to the frontier of the Japhletites as far as the border of LowerBeth-Horon and on to Gezer, and reached as far as the sea.	3 et descendit ad occidentem ad terminum Iephlethi usque ad terminos Bethoron inferioris et Gazer; finiunturque regiones eius mari Magno.
4 Such was the heritage of the sons of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim.	4 Hereditaverunt illas filii Ioseph Manasses et Ephraim.
5 As regards the territory of the sons of Ephraim, by clans, the frontier of their heritage ran from Ataroth-Arach to Upper Beth-Horon;	5 Et factus est terminus filiorum Ephraim per cognationes suas et possessio eorum contra orientem Atarothaddar usque Bethoron superiorem;
6 the frontier then reached as far as the sea . . . the Michmethath in the north, and the frontier turnedeast to Tanaath-Shiloh which it crossed in an easterly direction to Janoah;	6 egrediunturque confinia in mare, Machmethath vero aquilonem respicit et vertitur terminus contra orientem in Thanathselo et pertransit ab oriente Ianoe.
7 it ran down to Ataroth and Naarah, touched Jericho and ended at the Jordan.	7 Descenditque de Ianoe in Ataroth et Naaratha et pervenit in Iericho et egreditur ad Iordanem.
8 From Tappuah, the frontier ran westwards to the Torrent of Kanah and reached as far as the sea. Suchwas the heritage of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim, by clans,	8 De Thapphua pertransit terminus ad occidentem ad torrentem Cana, suntque egressus eius in mare: haec est possessio tribus filiorum Ephraim per familias suas,
9 apart from the towns reserved for the sons of Ephraim inside the heritage of the sons of Manasseh, althese towns and their villages.	9 urbesque separatae filiis Ephraim in medio possessionis filiorum Manasse, omnes urbes et villae earum.
10 The Canaanites living in Gezer were not driven out; they have remained in Ephraim to the presentday but are obliged to do forced labour.	10 Et non interfecerunt filii Ephraim Chananaeum, qui habitabat in Gazer; habitavitque Chananaeus in medio Ephraim usque in diem hanc et factus est tributarius.
