1 Corinthians 13

1 Though I command languages both human and angelic -- if I speak without love, I am no more than agong booming or a cymbal clashing.	1 Quand je parlerais les langues des hommes et des Anges, si je n'ai pas la charité, je suis comme un airain sonnant ou une cymbale retentissante.
2 And though I have the power of prophecy, to penetrate al mysteries and knowledge, and though Ihave all the faith necessary to move mountains -- if I am without love, I am nothing.	2 Et quand j'aurais le don de prophétie, et que je connaîtrais tous les mystères et toute la science; et quand j'aurais toute la foi, jusqu'à transporter des montagnes, si je n'ai pas la charité, je ne suis rien.
3 Though I should give away to the poor al that I possess, and even give up my body to be burned -- if Iam without love, it wil do me no good whatever.	3 Et quand je distribuerais tous mes biens pour nourrir les pauvres, et quand je livrerais mon corps pour être brûlé, si je n'ai pas la charité, cela ne me sert de rien.
4 Love is always patient and kind; love is never jealous; love is not boastful or conceited,	4 La charité est patiente, elle est pleine de bonté. La charité n'est point envieuse, elle n'agit pas avec témérité, elle ne s'enfle pas d'orgueil;
5 it is never rude and never seeks its own advantage, it does not take offence or store up grievances.	5 elle n'est pas ambitieuse, elle ne cherche pas ses propres intérêts, elle ne s'irrite pas, elle ne pense pas le mal,
6 Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but finds its joy in the truth.	6 elle ne se réjouit pas de l'injustice, mais elle se réjouit de la vérité;
7 It is always ready to make al owances, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes.	7 elle souffre tout, elle croit tout, elle espère tout, elle supporte tout.
8 Love never comes to an end. But if there are prophecies, they will be done away with; if tongues, theywil fall silent; and if knowledge, it wil be done away with.	8 La charité ne finira jamais; pas même lorsque les prophéties disparaîtront, que les langues cesseront, et que la science sera détruite.
9 For we know only imperfectly, and we prophesy imperfectly;	9 Car nous connaissons en partie, et nous prophétisons en partie;
10 but once perfection comes, al imperfect things wil be done away with.	10 mais quand ce qui est parfait sera venu, tout ce qui est partiel disparaîtra.
11 When I was a child, I used to talk like a child, and see things as a child does, and think like a child;but now that I have become an adult, I have finished with al childish ways.	11 Quand j'étais enfant, je parlais comme un enfant, je jugeais comme un enfant, je raisonnais comme un enfant; mais lorsque je suis devenu homme, j'ai fait disparaître ce qui était de l'enfant.
12 Now we see only reflections in a mirror, mere riddles, but then we shal be seeing face to face. Now Ican know only imperfectly; but then I shal know just as fully as I am myself known.	12 Nous voyons maintenant à travers un miroir, en énigme; mais alors nous verrons face à face. Maintenant je connais en partie; mais alors je connaîtrai comme je suis connu.
13 As it is, these remain: faith, hope and love, the three of them; and the greatest of them is love.	13 Maintenant ces trois choses demeurent: la foi, l'espérance et la charité; mais la plus grande est la charité.
