1 Corinthians 13

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Though I command languages both human and angelic -- if I speak without love, I am no more than agong booming or a cymbal clashing.	1 Se anche parlo le lingue degli uomini e degli angeli, ma non ho la carità, sono un bronzo sonante o un cembalo squillante.
2 And though I have the power of prophecy, to penetrate al mysteries and knowledge, and though Ihave all the faith necessary to move mountains -- if I am without love, I am nothing.	2 E se anche ho il dono della profezia e conosco tutti i misteri e tutta la scienza; e se anche possiedo tutta la fede, sì da trasportare le montagne, ma non ho la carità, non sono niente.
3 Though I should give away to the poor al that I possess, and even give up my body to be burned -- if Iam without love, it wil do me no good whatever.	3 E se anche distribuisco tutte le mie sostanze, e se anche do il mio corpo per essere bruciato, ma non ho la carità, non mi giova nulla.
4 Love is always patient and kind; love is never jealous; love is not boastful or conceited,	4 La carità è magnanima, è benigna la carità, non è invidiosa, la carità non si vanta, non si gonfia,
5 it is never rude and never seeks its own advantage, it does not take offence or store up grievances.	5 non manca di rispetto, non cerca il suo interesse, non si adira, non tiene conto del male ricevuto,
6 Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but finds its joy in the truth.	6 non gode dell'ingiustizia, ma si compiace della verità;
7 It is always ready to make al owances, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes.	7 tutto scusa, tutto crede, tutto spera, tutto sopporta.
8 Love never comes to an end. But if there are prophecies, they will be done away with; if tongues, theywil fall silent; and if knowledge, it wil be done away with.	8 La carità non avrà mai fine; le profezie scompariranno; il dono delle lingue cesserà; la scienza svanirà;
9 For we know only imperfectly, and we prophesy imperfectly;	9 conosciamo infatti imperfettamente, e imperfettamente profetizziamo.
10 but once perfection comes, al imperfect things wil be done away with.	10 Ma quando verrà la perfezione, sarà abolito ciò che è imperfetto.
11 When I was a child, I used to talk like a child, and see things as a child does, and think like a child;but now that I have become an adult, I have finished with al childish ways.	11 Quand'ero bambino, parlavo da bambino, pensavo da bambino, ragionavo da bambino. Ma quando mi sono fatto adulto, ho smesso ciò che era da bambino.
12 Now we see only reflections in a mirror, mere riddles, but then we shal be seeing face to face. Now Ican know only imperfectly; but then I shal know just as fully as I am myself known.	12 Adesso vediamo come in uno specchio, in immagine; ma allora vedremo faccia a faccia. Adesso conosco in parte, ma allora conoscerò perfettamente, come perfettamente sono conosciuto.
13 As it is, these remain: faith, hope and love, the three of them; and the greatest of them is love.	13 Ora esistono queste tre cose: la fede, la speranza e la carità; ma la più grande di esse è la carità.
