John 15

1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.	1 - Io sono la vera vite e il Padre mio è il vignaiuolo.
2 Every branch in me that bears no fruit he cuts away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunesto make it bear even more.	2 Ogni tralcio che in me non porta frutto egli lo recide, e ogni tralcio che porta frutto lo rimonda, perchè ne produca anche più.
3 You are clean already, by means of the word that I have spoken to you.	3 Voi siete già mondati dalla parola che vi ho annunziata.
4 Remain in me, as I in you. As a branch cannot bear fruit all by itself, unless it remains part of the vine,neither can you unless you remain in me.	4 Restate in me, ed io resterò in voi. Come il tralcio non può portare frutto da se medesimo, se non rimane nella vite, così neppure voi se non rimanete in me.
5 I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me, with me in him, bears fruit in plenty; forcut off from me you can do nothing.	5 Io sono la vite, e voi i tralci. Colui che rimane in me e io in lui, porta abbondanti frutti, perchè, senza di me, non potete far nulla.
6 Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a branch -- and withers; these branches arecol ected and thrown on the fire and are burnt.	6 Chi non rimane in me, è gettato via come tralcio che inaridisce, e viene poi raccolto e gettato ad ardere nel fuoco.
7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for whatever you please and you wilget it.	7 Se rimanete in me e le mie parole rimarranno in voi, domanderete quel che vorrete e vi sarà accordato.
8 It is to the glory of my Father that you should bear much fruit and be my disciples.	8 Il Padre mio sarà glorificato se produrrete frutti copiosi e diverrete miei discepoli.
9 I have loved you just as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.	9 Come il Padre ha amato me, così anch'io amo voi; perseverate nel mio amore.
10 If you keep my commandments you wil remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father'scommandments and remain in his love.	10 Se osserverete i miei comandamenti, rimarrete nell'amore mio, come io stesso ho osservato i comandamenti del Padre mio e rimango nell'amore di lui.
11 I have told you this so that my own joy may be in you and your joy be complete.	11 Vi ho dette queste cose, affinchè la mia gioia sia in voi e la vostra gioia sia completa.
12 This is my commandment: love one another, as I have loved you.	12 Ecco il mio comandamento: Amatevi scambievolmente, come io ho amato voi.
13 No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends.	13 Nessuno ha un amore più grande di questo, di uno che dia la vita per i suoi amici.
14 You are my friends, if you do what I command you.	14 Voi siete miei amici, se fate quel che vi comando.
15 I shall no longer cal you servants, because a servant does not know the master's business; I cal youfriends, because I have made known to you everything I have learnt from my Father.	15 Io non vi chiamo più servi, perchè il servo non sa che fa il suo padrone; vi ho chiamati amici, perchè vi ho fatto conoscere tutto quello che ho udito dal Padre mio.
16 You did not choose me, no, I chose you; and I commissioned you to go out and to bear fruit, fruit thatwil last; so that the Father wil give you anything you ask him in my name.	16 Non voi avete scelto me, ma io ho scelto voi e vi ho destinati ad andare a portare frutto, e il vostro frutto permanga; cosicchè qualunque cosa domanderete al Padre mio in mio nome ve lo dia.
17 My command to you is to love one another.	17 Ciò che io vi comando è che vi amiate scambievolmente.
18 If the world hates you, you must realise that it hated me before it hated you.	18 Se il mondo vi odia, sappiate che prima di voi ha odiato me.
19 If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you do not belong tothe world, because my choice of you has drawn you out of the world, that is why the world hates you.	19 Se foste del mondo, il mondo amerebbe ciò che è suo; invece, siccome non siete del mondo e vi ho scelti dal mondo, per questo il mondo vi odia.
20 Remember the words I said to you: A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me,they will persecute you too; if they kept my word, they will keep yours as wel .	20 Ricordatevi di ciò che vi ho detto: - Il servo non è da più del padrone. Se hanno perseguitato me, perseguiteranno anche voi; se hanno osservato la mia parola, osserveranno anche la vostra. -
21 But it wil be on my account that they will do al this to you, because they do not know the one whosent me.	21 Ma vi faranno tutte queste cose a cagione del mio nome, perchè ignorano Colui che m'ha mandato.
22 If I had not come, if I had not spoken to them, they would have been blameless; but as it is they haveno excuse for their sin.	22 Se non fossi venuto e non avessi parlato, non avrebbero colpa; invece non hanno scusa al loro peccato.
23 Anyone who hates me hates my Father.	23 Chi odia me, odia anche il Padre mio.
24 If I had not performed such works among them as no one else has ever done, they would beblameless; but as it is, in spite of what they have seen, they hate both me and my Father.	24 Se non avessi fatto tra loro opere che nessun altro ha fatto, non avrebbero colpa; ma ora le hanno vedute, e hanno odiato me e il Padre mio.
25 But al this was only to fulfil the words written in their Law: They hated me without reason.	25 Ma [questo è avvenuto] perchè si adempisse la parola scritta nella loro legge: "Mi hanno odiato senza ragione".
26 When the Paraclete comes, whom I shal send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who issuesfrom the Father, he wil be my witness.	26 Quando poi sarà venuto il Paraclito, che io vi manderò dal Padre, lo Spirito di verità, che procede dal Padre,
27 And you too will be witnesses, because you have been with me from the beginning.	27 egli renderà testimonianza di me, e voi pure mi renderete testimonianza, perchè siete con me fin dal principio.
