1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.	1 Io sono la vera vite: il Padre mio è il coltivatore.
2 Every branch in me that bears no fruit he cuts away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunesto make it bear even more.	2 Tutti i tralci, che non portano in me frutto, gli toglie via: e tutti quelli, che portan frutto, li rimonderà, perché fruttifichino di vantaggio.
3 You are clean already, by means of the word that I have spoken to you.	3 Voi già siete mondi in virtù della parola, che vi ho annunziato.
4 Remain in me, as I in you. As a branch cannot bear fruit all by itself, unless it remains part of the vine,neither can you unless you remain in me.	4 Tenetevi in me, e io in voi. Siccome il tralcio non può per se stesso dar frutto, se non si tiene nella vite; cosi né meno voi, se non vi terrete in me.
5 I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me, with me in him, bears fruit in plenty; forcut off from me you can do nothing.	5 Io son la vite, voi i tralci: chi si tiene in me, e in chi io mi tengo, questi porta gran frutto, perché senza di me non potete far nulla.
6 Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a branch -- and withers; these branches arecol ected and thrown on the fire and are burnt.	6 Quei, che non si terranno in me, gettati via seccheranno a guisa di tralci, e gli raccoglieranno, e li butteran sul fuoco, e brugiano.
7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for whatever you please and you wilget it.	7 Se vi terrete in me, e farete in voi conserva di mie parole, qualunque cosa vorrete, la chiederete, e vi sarà concessa.
8 It is to the glory of my Father that you should bear much fruit and be my disciples.	8 In questo è glorificato il Padre mio, che portiate gran frutto, e siate miei discepoli.
9 I have loved you just as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.	9 Come il Padre ha amato me, così io ho amato voi. Tenetevi nella mia carità.
10 If you keep my commandments you wil remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father'scommandments and remain in his love.	10 Se osserverete i miei comandamenti, vi terrete nella mia carità, siccome io ho osservato i comandamenti del padre, e mi tengo nella sua carità.
11 I have told you this so that my own joy may be in you and your joy be complete.	11 Tali cose ho detto a voi, affinché godiate voi dello stesso mio gaudio, e il gaudio vostro sia compito.
12 This is my commandment: love one another, as I have loved you.	12 Il comandamento mio è questo, che vi amiate l'un l'altro, come ho amato voi.
13 No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends.	13 Nissuno ha carità più grande, che quella di colui, che da la sua vita pe' miei amici.
14 You are my friends, if you do what I command you.	14 Voi siete miei amici, se farete quello, che vi comando.
15 I shall no longer cal you servants, because a servant does not know the master's business; I cal youfriends, because I have made known to you everything I have learnt from my Father.	15 Non vi chiamerò già più servi, perché il servo non sa quel, che faccia il suo padrone. Ma vi ho chiamati amici: perché tutto quello, che intesi dal Padre mio, lo ho fatto sapere a voi.
16 You did not choose me, no, I chose you; and I commissioned you to go out and to bear fruit, fruit thatwil last; so that the Father wil give you anything you ask him in my name.	16 Non siete voi, che avete eletto me; ma io ho eletto voi, e vi ho destinati, che andiate, e facciate frutto; e il frutto vostro sia durevole: onde qualunque cosa chiederete al Padre nel nome mio, a voi la conceda.
17 My command to you is to love one another.	17 Questo io ti ingiungo, che vi amiate l'un l'altro.
18 If the world hates you, you must realise that it hated me before it hated you.	18 Se il mondo vi odia, sappiate, che prima di voi ha odiato me.
19 If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you do not belong tothe world, because my choice of you has drawn you out of the world, that is why the world hates you.	19 Se voi foste cosa del mondo, il mondo amerebbe una cosa sua: ma perchè non siete del mondo, ma io vi ho eletti di mezzo al mondo, per questo il mondo vi odia.
20 Remember the words I said to you: A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me,they will persecute you too; if they kept my word, they will keep yours as wel .	20 Ricordatevi di quella parola, che vi dissi: Non si da servo maggiore del suo padrone. Se hanno perseguitato me, perseguiteranno anche voi: se hanno osservata la mia parola, osserveranno anche la vostra.
21 But it wil be on my account that they will do al this to you, because they do not know the one whosent me.	21 Ma tutto questo lo faranno a voi per causa del nome mio: perché non conoscono colui, che mi ha mandato.
22 If I had not come, if I had not spoken to them, they would have been blameless; but as it is they haveno excuse for their sin.	22 Se non fossi venuto, e non avessi parlato loro, non avrebber colpa: ora poi non hanno, onde scusare il loro peccato.
23 Anyone who hates me hates my Father.	23 Chi odia me, odia anche il Padre mio.
24 If I had not performed such works among them as no one else has ever done, they would beblameless; but as it is, in spite of what they have seen, they hate both me and my Father.	24 Se non avessi fatto tra di loro opere tali, che nissun altro mai fece, sarebbero senza colpa: ora poi e le hanno vedute, e hanno odiato e me, e il Padre mio.
25 But al this was only to fulfil the words written in their Law: They hated me without reason.	25 Ma dee adempirsi quella parola scritta nella lor legge: Mi odiarono senza motivo.
26 When the Paraclete comes, whom I shal send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who issuesfrom the Father, he wil be my witness.	26 Ma venuto che sia il Paracleto, che io vi manderò dal Padre, Spirito di verità, che procede dal Padre, egli renderà testimonianza per me:
27 And you too will be witnesses, because you have been with me from the beginning.	27 E voi ancora renderete testimonianza, perché siete meco fin da principio.
