Luke 6

1 It happened that one Sabbath he was walking through the cornfields, and his disciples were pickingears of corn, rubbing them in their hands and eating them.	1 Un sabato Gesù passava fra campi di grano e i suoi discepoli coglievano e mangiavano le spighe, sfregandole con le mani.
2 Some of the Pharisees said, 'Why are you doing something that is forbidden on the Sabbath day?'	2 Alcuni farisei dissero: «Perché fate in giorno di sabato quello che non è lecito?».
3 Jesus answered them, 'So you have not read what David did when he and his fol owers were hungry-	3 Gesù rispose loro: «Non avete letto quello che fece Davide, quando lui e i suoi compagni ebbero fame?
4 how he went into the house of God and took the loaves of the offering and ate them and gave them tohis fol owers, loaves which the priests alone are al owed to eat?'	4 Come entrò nella casa di Dio, prese i pani dell’offerta, ne mangiò e ne diede ai suoi compagni, sebbene non sia lecito mangiarli se non ai soli sacerdoti?».
5 And he said to them, 'The Son of man is master of the Sabbath.'	5 E diceva loro: «Il Figlio dell’uomo è signore del sabato».
6 Now on another Sabbath he went into the synagogue and began to teach, and a man was present, andhis right hand was withered.	6 Un altro sabato egli entrò nella sinagoga e si mise a insegnare. C’era là un uomo che aveva la mano destra paralizzata.
7 The scribes and the Pharisees were watching him to see if he would cure somebody on the Sabbath,hoping to find something to charge him with.	7 Gli scribi e i farisei lo osservavano per vedere se lo guariva in giorno di sabato, per trovare di che accusarlo.
8 But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man with the withered hand, 'Get up and stand out in themiddle!' And he came forward and stood there.	8 Ma Gesù conosceva i loro pensieri e disse all’uomo che aveva la mano paralizzata: «Àlzati e mettiti qui in mezzo!». Si alzò e si mise in mezzo.
9 Then Jesus said to them, 'I put it to you: is it permitted on the Sabbath to do good, or to do evil; to savelife, or to destroy it?'	9 Poi Gesù disse loro: «Domando a voi: in giorno di sabato, è lecito fare del bene o fare del male, salvare una vita o sopprimerla?».
10 Then he looked round at them al and said to the man, 'Stretch out your hand.' He did so, and his handwas restored.	10 E guardandoli tutti intorno, disse all’uomo: «Tendi la tua mano!». Egli lo fece e la sua mano fu guarita.
11 But they were furious and began to discuss the best way of dealing with Jesus.	11 Ma essi, fuori di sé dalla collera, si misero a discutere tra loro su quello che avrebbero potuto fare a Gesù.
12 Now it happened in those days that he went onto the mountain to pray; and he spent the whole night inprayer to God.	12 In quei giorni egli se ne andò sul monte a pregare e passò tutta la notte pregando Dio.
13 When day came he summoned his disciples and picked out twelve of them; he cal ed them 'apostles':	13 Quando fu giorno, chiamò a sé i suoi discepoli e ne scelse dodici, ai quali diede anche il nome di apostoli:
14 Simon whom he called Peter, and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,	14 Simone, al quale diede anche il nome di Pietro; Andrea, suo fratello; Giacomo, Giovanni, Filippo, Bartolomeo,
15 Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon cal ed the Zealot,	15 Matteo, Tommaso; Giacomo, figlio di Alfeo; Simone, detto Zelota;
16 Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot who became a traitor.	16 Giuda, figlio di Giacomo; e Giuda Iscariota, che divenne il traditore.
17 He then came down with them and stopped at a piece of level ground where there was a largegathering of his disciples, with a great crowd of people from al parts of Judaea and Jerusalem and the coastalregion of Tyre and Sidon	17 Disceso con loro, si fermò in un luogo pianeggiante. C’era gran folla di suoi discepoli e gran moltitudine di gente da tutta la Giudea, da Gerusalemme e dal litorale di Tiro e di Sidone,
18 who had come to hear him and to be cured of their diseases. People tormented by unclean spirits werealso cured,	18 che erano venuti per ascoltarlo ed essere guariti dalle loro malattie; anche quelli che erano tormentati da spiriti impuri venivano guariti.
19 and everyone in the crowd was trying to touch him because power came out of him that cured them al .	19 Tutta la folla cercava di toccarlo, perché da lui usciva una forza che guariva tutti.
20 Then fixing his eyes on his disciples he said: How blessed are you who are poor: the kingdom of Godis yours.	20 Ed egli, alzàti gli occhi verso i suoi discepoli, diceva: «Beati voi, poveri, perché vostro è il regno di Dio.
21 Blessed are you who are hungry now: you shal have your fil . Blessed are you who are weeping now:you shall laugh.	21 Beati voi, che ora avete fame, perché sarete saziati. Beati voi, che ora piangete, perché riderete.
22 'Blessed are you when people hate you, drive you out, abuse you, denounce your name as criminal,on account of the Son of man.	22 Beati voi, quando gli uomini vi odieranno e quando vi metteranno al bando e vi insulteranno e disprezzeranno il vostro nome come infame, a causa del Figlio dell’uomo.
23 Rejoice when that day comes and dance for joy, look!-your reward wil be great in heaven. This wasthe way their ancestors treated the prophets.	23 Rallegratevi in quel giorno ed esultate perché, ecco, la vostra ricompensa è grande nel cielo. Allo stesso modo infatti agivano i loro padri con i profeti.
24 But alas for you who are rich: you are having your consolation now.	24 Ma guai a voi, ricchi, perché avete già ricevuto la vostra consolazione.
25 Alas for you who have plenty to eat now: you shal go hungry. Alas for you who are laughing now: youshall mourn and weep.	25 Guai a voi, che ora siete sazi, perché avrete fame. Guai a voi, che ora ridete, perché sarete nel dolore e piangerete.
26 'Alas for you when everyone speaks wel of you! This was the way their ancestors treated the falseprophets.	26 Guai, quando tutti gli uomini diranno bene di voi. Allo stesso modo infatti agivano i loro padri con i falsi profeti.
27 'But I say this to you who are listening: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,	27 Ma a voi che ascoltate, io dico: amate i vostri nemici, fate del bene a quelli che vi odiano,
28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who treat you badly.	28 benedite coloro che vi maledicono, pregate per coloro che vi trattano male.
29 To anyone who slaps you on one cheek, present the other cheek as well; to anyone who takes yourcloak from you, do not refuse your tunic.	29 A chi ti percuote sulla guancia, offri anche l’altra; a chi ti strappa il mantello, non rifiutare neanche la tunica.
30 Give to everyone who asks you, and do not ask for your property back from someone who takes it.	30 Da’ a chiunque ti chiede, e a chi prende le cose tue, non chiederle indietro.
31 Treat others as you would like people to treat you.	31 E come volete che gli uomini facciano a voi, così anche voi fate a loro.
32 If you love those who love you, what credit can you expect? Even sinners love those who love them.	32 Se amate quelli che vi amano, quale gratitudine vi è dovuta? Anche i peccatori amano quelli che li amano.
33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit can you expect? For even sinners do thatmuch.	33 E se fate del bene a coloro che fanno del bene a voi, quale gratitudine vi è dovuta? Anche i peccatori fanno lo stesso.
34 And if you lend to those from whom you hope to get money back, what credit can you expect? Evensinners lend to sinners to get back the same amount.	34 E se prestate a coloro da cui sperate ricevere, quale gratitudine vi è dovuta? Anche i peccatori concedono prestiti ai peccatori per riceverne altrettanto.
35 Instead, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend without any hope of return. You wil have agreat reward, and you wil be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.	35 Amate invece i vostri nemici, fate del bene e prestate senza sperarne nulla, e la vostra ricompensa sarà grande e sarete figli dell’Altissimo, perché egli è benevolo verso gli ingrati e i malvagi.
36 'Be compassionate just as your Father is compassionate.	36 Siate misericordiosi, come il Padre vostro è misericordioso.
37 Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you wil not be condemned; forgive,and you wil be forgiven.	37 Non giudicate e non sarete giudicati; non condannate e non sarete condannati; perdonate e sarete perdonati.
38 Give, and there wil be gifts for you: a ful measure, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing,wil be poured into your lap; because the standard you use will be the standard used for you.'	38 Date e vi sarà dato: una misura buona, pigiata, colma e traboccante vi sarà versata nel grembo, perché con la misura con la quale misurate, sarà misurato a voi in cambio».
39 He also told them a parable, 'Can one blind person guide another? Surely both wil fal into a pit?	39 Disse loro anche una parabola: «Può forse un cieco guidare un altro cieco? Non cadranno tutti e due in un fosso?
40 Disciple is not superior to teacher; but ful y trained disciple wil be like teacher.	40 Un discepolo non è più del maestro; ma ognuno, che sia ben preparato, sarà come il suo maestro.
41 Why do you observe the splinter in your brother's eye and never notice the great log in your own?	41 Perché guardi la pagliuzza che è nell’occhio del tuo fratello e non ti accorgi della trave che è nel tuo occhio?
42 How can you say to your brother, "Brother, let me take out that splinter in your eye," when you cannotsee the great log in your own? Hypocrite! Take the log out of your own eye first, and then you wil see clearlyenough to take out the splinter in your brother's eye.	42 Come puoi dire al tuo fratello: “Fratello, lascia che tolga la pagliuzza che è nel tuo occhio”, mentre tu stesso non vedi la trave che è nel tuo occhio? Ipocrita! Togli prima la trave dal tuo occhio e allora ci vedrai bene per togliere la pagliuzza dall’occhio del tuo fratello.
43 'There is no sound tree that produces rotten fruit, nor again a rotten tree that produces sound fruit.	43 Non vi è albero buono che produca un frutto cattivo, né vi è d’altronde albero cattivo che produca un frutto buono.
44 Every tree can be told by its own fruit: people do not pick figs from thorns, nor gather grapes frombrambles.	44 Ogni albero infatti si riconosce dal suo frutto: non si raccolgono fichi dagli spini, né si vendemmia uva da un rovo.
45 Good people draw what is good from the store of goodness in their hearts; bad people draw what isbad from the store of badness. For the words of the mouth flow out of what fil s the heart.	45 L’uomo buono dal buon tesoro del suo cuore trae fuori il bene; l’uomo cattivo dal suo cattivo tesoro trae fuori il male: la sua bocca infatti esprime ciò che dal cuore sovrabbonda.
46 'Why do you call me, "Lord, Lord" and not do what I say?	46 Perché mi invocate: “Signore, Signore!” e non fate quello che dico?
47 'Everyone who comes to me and listens to my words and acts on them -- I wil show you what such aperson is like.	47 Chiunque viene a me e ascolta le mie parole e le mette in pratica, vi mostrerò a chi è simile:
48 Such a person is like the man who, when he built a house, dug, and dug deep, and laid thefoundations on rock; when the river was in flood it bore down on that house but could not shake it, it was so welbuilt.	48 è simile a un uomo che, costruendo una casa, ha scavato molto profondo e ha posto le fondamenta sulla roccia. Venuta la piena, il fiume investì quella casa, ma non riuscì a smuoverla perché era costruita bene.
49 But someone who listens and does nothing is like the man who built a house on soil, with nofoundations; as soon as the river bore down on it, it col apsed; and what a ruin that house became!'	49 Chi invece ascolta e non mette in pratica, è simile a un uomo che ha costruito una casa sulla terra, senza fondamenta. Il fiume la investì e subito crollò; e la distruzione di quella casa fu grande».
