Luke 6

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 It happened that one Sabbath he was walking through the cornfields, and his disciples were pickingears of corn, rubbing them in their hands and eating them.	1 Sucedió que cruzaba en sábado por unos sembrados; sus discípulos arrancaban y comían espigas desgranándolas con las manos.
2 Some of the Pharisees said, 'Why are you doing something that is forbidden on the Sabbath day?'	2 Algunos de los fariseos dijeron: «¿Por qué hacéis lo que no es lícito en sábado?»
3 Jesus answered them, 'So you have not read what David did when he and his fol owers were hungry-	3 Y Jesús les respondió: «¿Ni siquiera habéis leído lo que hizo David, cuando sintió hambre él y los que le acompañaban,
4 how he went into the house of God and took the loaves of the offering and ate them and gave them tohis fol owers, loaves which the priests alone are al owed to eat?'	4 cómo entró en la Casa de Dios, y tomando los panes de la presencia, que no es lícito comer sino sólo a los sacerdotes, comió él y dio a los que le acompañaban?»
5 And he said to them, 'The Son of man is master of the Sabbath.'	5 Y les dijo: «El Hijo del hombre es señor del sábado».
6 Now on another Sabbath he went into the synagogue and began to teach, and a man was present, andhis right hand was withered.	6 Sucedió que entró Jesús otro sábado en la sinagoga y se puso a enseñar. Había allí un hombre que tenía la mano derecha seca.
7 The scribes and the Pharisees were watching him to see if he would cure somebody on the Sabbath,hoping to find something to charge him with.	7 Estaban al acecho los escribas y fariseos por si curaba en sábado, para encontrar de qué acusarle.
8 But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man with the withered hand, 'Get up and stand out in themiddle!' And he came forward and stood there.	8 Pero él, conociendo sus pensamientos, dijo al hombre que tenía la mano seca: «Levántate y ponte ahí en medio». El, levantándose, se puso allí.
9 Then Jesus said to them, 'I put it to you: is it permitted on the Sabbath to do good, or to do evil; to savelife, or to destroy it?'	9 Entonces Jesús les dijo: «Yo os pregunto si en sábado es lícito hacer el bien en vez de hacer el mal, salvar una vida en vez de destruirla».
10 Then he looked round at them al and said to the man, 'Stretch out your hand.' He did so, and his handwas restored.	10 Y mirando a todos ellos, le dijo: «Extiende tu mano». El lo hizo, y quedó restablecida su mano.
11 But they were furious and began to discuss the best way of dealing with Jesus.	11 Ellos se ofuscaron, y deliberaban entre sí qué harían a Jesús.
12 Now it happened in those days that he went onto the mountain to pray; and he spent the whole night inprayer to God.	12 Sucedió que por aquellos días se fue él al monte a orar, y se pasó la noche en la oración de Dios.
13 When day came he summoned his disciples and picked out twelve of them; he cal ed them 'apostles':	13 Cuando se hizo de día, llamó a sus discípulos, y eligió doce de entre ellos, a los que llamó también apóstoles.
14 Simon whom he called Peter, and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,	14 A Simón, a quien llamó Pedro, y a su hermano Andrés; a Santiago y Juan, a Felipe y Bartolomé,
15 Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon cal ed the Zealot,	15 a Mateo y Tomás, a Santiago de Alfeo y Simón, llamado Zelotes;
16 Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot who became a traitor.	16 a Judas de Santiago, y a Judas Iscariote, que llegó a ser un traidor.
17 He then came down with them and stopped at a piece of level ground where there was a largegathering of his disciples, with a great crowd of people from al parts of Judaea and Jerusalem and the coastalregion of Tyre and Sidon	17 Bajando con ellos se detuvo en un paraje llano; había una gran multitud de discípulos suyos y gran muchedumbre del pueblo, de toda Judea, de Jerusalén y de la región costera de Tiro y Sidón,
18 who had come to hear him and to be cured of their diseases. People tormented by unclean spirits werealso cured,	18 que habían venido para oírle y ser curados de sus enfermedades. Y los que eran molestados por espíritus inmundos quedaban curados.
19 and everyone in the crowd was trying to touch him because power came out of him that cured them al .	19 Toda la gente procuraba tocarle, porque salía de él una fuerza que sanaba a todos.
20 Then fixing his eyes on his disciples he said: How blessed are you who are poor: the kingdom of Godis yours.	20 Y él, alzando los ojos hacia sus discípulos, decía: «Bienaventurados los pobres, porque vuestro es el Reino de Dios.
21 Blessed are you who are hungry now: you shal have your fil . Blessed are you who are weeping now:you shall laugh.	21 Bienaventurados los que tenéis hambre ahora, porque seréis saciados. Bienaventurados los que lloráis ahora, porque reiréis.
22 'Blessed are you when people hate you, drive you out, abuse you, denounce your name as criminal,on account of the Son of man.	22 Bienaventurados seréis cuando los hombres os odien, cuando os expulsen, os injurien y proscriban vuestro nombre como malo, por causa del Hijo del hombre.
23 Rejoice when that day comes and dance for joy, look!-your reward wil be great in heaven. This wasthe way their ancestors treated the prophets.	23 Alegraos ese día y saltad de gozo, que vuestra recompensa será grande en el cielo. Pues de ese modo trataban sus padres a los profetas.
24 But alas for you who are rich: you are having your consolation now.	24 «Pero ¡ay de vosotros, los ricos!, porque habéis recibido vuestro consuelo.
25 Alas for you who have plenty to eat now: you shal go hungry. Alas for you who are laughing now: youshall mourn and weep.	25 ¡Ay de vosotros, los que ahora estáis hartos!, porque tendréis hambre. ¡Ay de los que reís ahora!, porque tendréis aflicción y llanto.
26 'Alas for you when everyone speaks wel of you! This was the way their ancestors treated the falseprophets.	26 ¡Ay cuando todos los hombres hablen bien de vosotros!, pues de ese modo trataban sus padres a los falsos profetas.
27 'But I say this to you who are listening: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,	27 «Pero yo os digo a los que me escucháis: Amad a vuestros enemigos, haced bien a los que os odien,
28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who treat you badly.	28 bendecid a los que os maldigan, rogad por los que os difamen.
29 To anyone who slaps you on one cheek, present the other cheek as well; to anyone who takes yourcloak from you, do not refuse your tunic.	29 Al que te hiera en una mejilla, preséntale también la otra; y al que te quite el manto, no le niegues la túnica.
30 Give to everyone who asks you, and do not ask for your property back from someone who takes it.	30 A todo el que te pida, da, y al que tome lo tuyo, no se lo reclames.
31 Treat others as you would like people to treat you.	31 Y lo que queráis que os hagan los hombres, hacédselo vosotros igualmente.
32 If you love those who love you, what credit can you expect? Even sinners love those who love them.	32 Si amáis a los que os aman, ¿qué mérito tenéis? Pues también los pecadores aman a los que les aman.
33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit can you expect? For even sinners do thatmuch.	33 Si hacéis bien a los que os lo hacen a vosotros, ¿qué mérito tenéis? ¡También los pecadores hacen otro tanto!
34 And if you lend to those from whom you hope to get money back, what credit can you expect? Evensinners lend to sinners to get back the same amount.	34 Si prestáis a aquellos de quienes esperáis recibir, ¿qué mérito tenéis? También los pecadores prestan a los pecadores para recibir lo correspondiente.
35 Instead, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend without any hope of return. You wil have agreat reward, and you wil be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.	35 Más bien, amad a vuestros enemigos; haced el bien, y prestad sin esperar nada a cambio; y vuestra recompensa será grande, y seréis hijos del Altísimo, porque él es bueno con los ingratos y los perversos.
36 'Be compassionate just as your Father is compassionate.	36 «Sed compasivos, como vuestro Padre es compasivo.
37 Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you wil not be condemned; forgive,and you wil be forgiven.	37 No juzguéis y no seréis juzgados, no condenéis y no seréis condenados; perdonad y seréis perdonados.
38 Give, and there wil be gifts for you: a ful measure, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing,wil be poured into your lap; because the standard you use will be the standard used for you.'	38 Dad y se os dará; una medida buena, apretada, remecida, rebosante pondrán en el halda de vuestros vestidos. Porque con la medida con que midáis se os medirá».
39 He also told them a parable, 'Can one blind person guide another? Surely both wil fal into a pit?	39 Les añadió una parábola: «¿Podrá un ciego guiar a otro ciego? ¿No caerán los dos en el hoyo?
40 Disciple is not superior to teacher; but ful y trained disciple wil be like teacher.	40 No está el discípulo por encima del maestro. Todo el que esté bien formado, será como su maestro.
41 Why do you observe the splinter in your brother's eye and never notice the great log in your own?	41 ¿Cómo es que miras la brizna que hay en el ojo de tu hermano, y no reparas en la viga que hay en tu propio ojo?
42 How can you say to your brother, "Brother, let me take out that splinter in your eye," when you cannotsee the great log in your own? Hypocrite! Take the log out of your own eye first, and then you wil see clearlyenough to take out the splinter in your brother's eye.	42 ¿Cómo puedes decir a tu hermano: “Hermano, deja que saque la brizna que hay en tu ojo”, no viendo tú mismo la viga que hay en el tuyo? Hipócrita, saca primero la viga de tu ojo, y entonces podrás ver para sacar la brizna que hay en el ojo de tu hermano.
43 'There is no sound tree that produces rotten fruit, nor again a rotten tree that produces sound fruit.	43 «Porque no hay árbol bueno que dé fruto malo y, a la inversa, no hay árbol malo que dé fruto bueno.
44 Every tree can be told by its own fruit: people do not pick figs from thorns, nor gather grapes frombrambles.	44 Cada árbol se conoce por su fruto. No se recogen higos de los espinos, ni de la zarza se vendimian uvas.
45 Good people draw what is good from the store of goodness in their hearts; bad people draw what isbad from the store of badness. For the words of the mouth flow out of what fil s the heart.	45 El hombre bueno, del buen tesoro del corazón saca lo bueno, y el malo, del malo saca lo malo. Porque de lo que rebosa el corazón habla su boca.
46 'Why do you call me, "Lord, Lord" and not do what I say?	46 «¿Por qué me llamáis: “Señor, Señor”, y no hacéis lo que digo?
47 'Everyone who comes to me and listens to my words and acts on them -- I wil show you what such aperson is like.	47 «Todo el que venga a mí y oiga mis palabras y las ponga en práctica, os voy a mostrar a quién es semejante:
48 Such a person is like the man who, when he built a house, dug, and dug deep, and laid thefoundations on rock; when the river was in flood it bore down on that house but could not shake it, it was so welbuilt.	48 Es semejante a un hombre que, al edificar una casa, cavó profundamente y puso los cimientos sobre roca. Al sobrevenir una inundación, rompió el torrente contra aquella casa, pero no pudo destruirla por estar bien edificada.
49 But someone who listens and does nothing is like the man who built a house on soil, with nofoundations; as soon as the river bore down on it, it col apsed; and what a ruin that house became!'	49 Pero el que haya oído y no haya puesto en práctica, es semejante a un hombre que edificó una casa sobre tierra, sin cimientos, contra la que rompió el torrente y al instante se desplomó y fue grande la ruina de aquella casa».
