Luke 4

1 Fil ed with the Holy Spirit, Jesus left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert,	1 Jézus pedig telve Szentlélekkel visszatért a Jordántól, és a Lélek a pusztába vitte
2 for forty days being put to the test by the devil. During that time he ate nothing and at the end he washungry.	2 negyven napra, és kísértette az ördög. Azokban a napokban nem evett semmit, s ezek elteltével megéhezett.
3 Then the devil said to him, 'If you are Son of God, tel this stone to turn into a loaf.'	3 Ekkor az ördög ezt mondta neki: »Ha Isten Fia vagy, mondd ennek a kőnek, hogy változzék kenyérré.«
4 But Jesus replied, 'Scripture says: Human beings live not on bread alone.'	4 Jézus ezt felelte neki: »Írva van: ‘Nemcsak kenyérrel él az ember’« .
5 Then leading him to a height, the devil showed him in a moment of time al the kingdoms of the world	5 Majd felvitte őt, és megmutatta neki egy szempillantás alatt a földkerekség minden országát,
6 and said to him, 'I wil give you al this power and their splendour, for it has been handed over to me, forme to give it to anyone I choose.	6 és így szólt az ördög: »Mindezt a hatalmat és ennek dicsőségét neked adom; mert az enyém, és akinek akarom, annak adom;
7 Do homage, then, to me, and it shal al be yours.'	7 ha tehát imádsz engem, mind a tiéd lesz.«
8 But Jesus answered him, 'Scripture says: You must do homage to the Lord your God, him alone youmust serve.'	8 Jézus ezt válaszolta neki: »Írva van: ‘Uradat, Istenedet imádd, és csak neki szolgálj’« .
9 Then he led him to Jerusalem and set him on the parapet of the Temple. 'If you are Son of God,' he saidto him, 'throw yourself down from here,	9 Azután Jeruzsálembe vitte őt, a templom ormára állította, és azt mondta neki: »Ha Isten Fia vagy, vesd le innen magadat.
10 for scripture says: He has given his angels orders about you, to guard you, and again:	10 Mert írva van: ‘Angyalainak parancsol felőled, hogy őrizzenek téged’,
11 They wil carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.'	11 és ‘kezükön hordoznak téged, hogy kőbe ne üssed lábadat’« .
12 But Jesus answered him, 'Scripture says: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'	12 Jézus ezt felelte neki: »De azt is mondták: ‘Ne kísértsd Uradat, Istenedet’«.
13 Having exhausted every way of putting him to the test, the devil left him, until the opportune moment.	13 Miután mindezek a kísértések véget értek, az ördög elhagyta őt egy időre.
14 Jesus, with the power of the Spirit in him, returned to Galilee; and his reputation spread throughout thecountryside.	14 Jézus pedig a Lélek erejében visszatért Galileába, és a híre elterjedt az egész környéken.
15 He taught in their synagogues and everyone glorified him.	15 Tanított a zsinagógáikban, és mindenki dicsőítette.
16 He came to Nazara, where he had been brought up, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath dayas he usually did. He stood up to read,	16 Azután elment Názáretbe, ahol felnövekedett. Szokása szerint bement szombaton a zsinagógába, és fölállt olvasni.

18 The spirit of the Lord is on me, for he has anointed me to bring the good news to the afflicted. 20 He then rol ed up the scrol , gave it back to the assistant and sat down. And all eyes in the synagogue were fixed on him.	20 Aztán összehajtotta a könyvet, visszaadta a szolgának, és leült. A zsinagógában minden szem rászegeződött.
21 Then he began to speak to them, 'This text is being fulfilled today even while you are listening.'	21 Ő pedig elkezdett hozzájuk beszélni: »Ma teljesedett be ez az Írás a ti fületek hallatára.«
22 And he won the approval of all, and they were astonished by the gracious words that came from hislips. They said, 'This is Joseph's son, surely?'	22 Mindnyájan igazat adtak neki, és csodálkoztak a kegyelem igéin, amelyek ajkáról fakadtak. Aztán így szóltak: »Nem József fia ez?«
23 But he replied, 'No doubt you will quote me the saying, "Physician, heal yourself," and tel me, "We have heard al that happened in Capernaum, do the same here in your own country." 24 And he went on, 'In truth I tel you, no prophet is ever accepted in his own country.	24 Majd így folytatta: »Bizony, mondom nektek, hogy egy próféta sem kedves a maga hazájában.
25 'There were many widows in Israel, I can assure you, in Elijah's day, when heaven remained shut forthree years and six months and a great famine raged throughout the land,	25 Bizony, mondom nektek: sok özvegy volt Illés napjaiban Izraelben, amikor bezárult az ég három évre és hat hónapra, úgyhogy nagy éhínség lett az egész földön;

34 'Ha! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who youare: the Holy One of God.'	34 »Hagyj békén! Mi közünk hozzád, Názáreti Jézus? Azért jöttél, hogy elveszíts minket? Tudom, ki vagy: az Isten Szentje.«
35 But Jesus rebuked it, saying, 'Be quiet! Come out of him!' And the devil, throwing the man into themiddle, went out of him without hurting him at all.	35 Jézus azonban megparancsolta neki: »Némulj el, és menj ki belőle!« Az ördög pedig középre dobta az embert, kiment belőle, és semmit sem ártott neki.
36 Astonishment seized them and they were al saying to one another, 'What is it in his words? He givesorders to unclean spirits with authority and power and they come out.'	36 Mindenkit félelem szállt meg, és egymás között így beszélgettek: »Milyen beszéd ez? Hatalommal és erővel parancsol a tisztátalan lelkeknek, és azok kimennek?«
37 And the news of him travel ed al through the surrounding countryside.	37 És a híre elterjedt a környék minden részében.
38 Leaving the synagogue he went to Simon's house. Now Simon's mother-in-law was in the grip of ahigh fever and they asked him to do something for her.	38 Azután felállt, és a zsinagógából Simon házába ment. Simon anyósának magas láza volt. Kérték őt az érdekében.

40 At sunset al those who had friends suffering from diseases of one kind or another brought them tohim, and laying his hands on each he cured them.	40 Mikor azután a nap lement, mindazok, akiknek különféle bajokban szenvedő betegeik voltak, odavitték hozzá őket, és ő mindegyikre rátette a kezét és meggyógyította őket.
41 Devils too came out of many people, shouting, 'You are the Son of God.' But he warned them andwould not al ow them to speak because they knew that he was the Christ.	41 Sokakból kimentek az ördögök is, s ezt kiáltozták: »Te vagy az Isten Fia.« De ő rájuk parancsolt, nem hagyta őket beszélni, mert tudták, hogy ő a Krisztus.
42 When daylight came he left the house and made his way to a lonely place. The crowds went to look forhim, and when they had caught up with him they wanted to prevent him leaving them,	42 Amikor megvirradt, kiment és visszavonult egy elhagyatott helyre. 44 And he continued his proclamation in the synagogues of Judaea.	44 És tanított Júdea zsinagógáiban.
