Luke 4

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 Fil ed with the Holy Spirit, Jesus left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert,	1 Gesù, pieno di Spirito Santo, si allontanò dal Giordano ed era guidato dallo Spirito nel deserto,
2 for forty days being put to the test by the devil. During that time he ate nothing and at the end he washungry.	2 per quaranta giorni, tentato dal diavolo. Non mangiò nulla in quei giorni, ma quando furono terminati, ebbe fame.
3 Then the devil said to him, 'If you are Son of God, tel this stone to turn into a loaf.'	3 Allora il diavolo gli disse: «Se tu sei Figlio di Dio, di’ a questa pietra che diventi pane».
4 But Jesus replied, 'Scripture says: Human beings live not on bread alone.'	4 Gesù gli rispose: «Sta scritto: Non di solo pane vivrà l’uomo».
5 Then leading him to a height, the devil showed him in a moment of time al the kingdoms of the world	5 Il diavolo lo condusse in alto, gli mostrò in un istante tutti i regni della terra
6 and said to him, 'I wil give you al this power and their splendour, for it has been handed over to me, forme to give it to anyone I choose.	6 e gli disse: «Ti darò tutto questo potere e la loro gloria, perché a me è stata data e io la do a chi voglio.
7 Do homage, then, to me, and it shal al be yours.'	7 Perciò, se ti prostrerai in adorazione dinanzi a me, tutto sarà tuo».
8 But Jesus answered him, 'Scripture says: You must do homage to the Lord your God, him alone youmust serve.'	8 Gesù gli rispose: «Sta scritto: Il Signore, Dio tuo, adorerai: a lui solo renderai culto».
9 Then he led him to Jerusalem and set him on the parapet of the Temple. 'If you are Son of God,' he saidto him, 'throw yourself down from here,	9 Lo condusse a Gerusalemme, lo pose sul punto più alto del tempio e gli disse: «Se tu sei Figlio di Dio, gèttati giù di qui;
10 for scripture says: He has given his angels orders about you, to guard you, and again:	10 sta scritto infatti: Ai suoi angeli darà ordini a tuo riguardo affinché essi ti custodiscano;
11 They wil carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.'	11 e anche: Essi ti porteranno sulle loro mani perché il tuo piede non inciampi in una pietra».
12 But Jesus answered him, 'Scripture says: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'	12 Gesù gli rispose: «È stato detto: Non metterai alla prova il Signore Dio tuo».
13 Having exhausted every way of putting him to the test, the devil left him, until the opportune moment.	13 Dopo aver esaurito ogni tentazione, il diavolo si allontanò da lui fino al momento fissato.
14 Jesus, with the power of the Spirit in him, returned to Galilee; and his reputation spread throughout thecountryside.	14 Gesù ritornò in Galilea con la potenza dello Spirito e la sua fama si diffuse in tutta la regione.
15 He taught in their synagogues and everyone glorified him.	15 Insegnava nelle loro sinagoghe e gli rendevano lode.
16 He came to Nazara, where he had been brought up, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath dayas he usually did. He stood up to read,	16 Venne a Nàzaret, dove era cresciuto, e secondo il suo solito, di sabato, entrò nella sinagoga e si alzò a leggere.
17 and they handed him the scrol of the prophet Isaiah. Unrol ing the scrol he found the place where it iswritten:	17 Gli fu dato il rotolo del profeta Isaia; aprì il rotolo e trovò il passo dove era scritto:
18 The spirit of the Lord is on me, for he has anointed me to bring the good news to the afflicted. He hassent me to proclaim liberty to captives, sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free,	18 Lo Spirito del Signore è sopra di me; per questo mi ha consacrato con l’unzione e mi ha mandato a portare ai poveri il lieto annuncio, a proclamare ai prigionieri la liberazione e ai ciechi la vista; a rimettere in libertà gli oppressi,
19 to proclaim a year of favour from the Lord.	19 a proclamare l’anno di grazia del Signore.
20 He then rol ed up the scrol , gave it back to the assistant and sat down. And all eyes in the synagogue were fixed on him.	20 Riavvolse il rotolo, lo riconsegnò all’inserviente e sedette. Nella sinagoga, gli occhi di tutti erano fissi su di lui.
21 Then he began to speak to them, 'This text is being fulfilled today even while you are listening.'	21 Allora cominciò a dire loro: «Oggi si è compiuta questa Scrittura che voi avete ascoltato».
22 And he won the approval of all, and they were astonished by the gracious words that came from hislips. They said, 'This is Joseph's son, surely?'	22 Tutti gli davano testimonianza ed erano meravigliati delle parole di grazia che uscivano dalla sua bocca e dicevano: «Non è costui il figlio di Giuseppe?».
23 But he replied, 'No doubt you will quote me the saying, "Physician, heal yourself," and tel me, "We have heard al that happened in Capernaum, do the same here in your own country." '	23 Ma egli rispose loro: «Certamente voi mi citerete questo proverbio: “Medico, cura te stesso. Quanto abbiamo udito che accadde a Cafàrnao, fallo anche qui, nella tua patria!”».
24 And he went on, 'In truth I tel you, no prophet is ever accepted in his own country.	24 Poi aggiunse: «In verità io vi dico: nessun profeta è bene accetto nella sua patria.
25 'There were many widows in Israel, I can assure you, in Elijah's day, when heaven remained shut forthree years and six months and a great famine raged throughout the land,	25 Anzi, in verità io vi dico: c’erano molte vedove in Israele al tempo di Elia, quando il cielo fu chiuso per tre anni e sei mesi e ci fu una grande carestia in tutto il paese;
26 but Elijah was not sent to any one of these: he was sent to a widow at Zarephath, a town in Sidonia.	26 ma a nessuna di esse fu mandato Elia, se non a una vedova a Sarepta di Sidone.
27 And in the prophet Elisha's time there were many suffering from virulent skin-diseases in Israel, butnone of these was cured -- only Naaman the Syrian.'	27 C’erano molti lebbrosi in Israele al tempo del profeta Eliseo; ma nessuno di loro fu purificato, se non Naamàn, il Siro».
28 When they heard this everyone in the synagogue was enraged.	28 All’udire queste cose, tutti nella sinagoga si riempirono di sdegno.
29 They sprang to their feet and hustled him out of the town; and they took him up to the brow of the hilltheir town was built on, intending to throw him off the cliff,	29 Si alzarono e lo cacciarono fuori della città e lo condussero fin sul ciglio del monte, sul quale era costruita la loro città, per gettarlo giù.
30 but he passed straight through the crowd and walked away.	30 Ma egli, passando in mezzo a loro, si mise in cammino.
31 He went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and taught them on the Sabbath.	31 Poi scese a Cafàrnao, città della Galilea, e in giorno di sabato insegnava alla gente.
32 And his teaching made a deep impression on them because his word carried authority.	32 Erano stupiti del suo insegnamento perché la sua parola aveva autorità.
33 In the synagogue there was a man possessed by the spirit of an unclean devil, and he shouted at thetop of his voice,	33 Nella sinagoga c’era un uomo che era posseduto da un demonio impuro; cominciò a gridare forte:
34 'Ha! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who youare: the Holy One of God.'	34 «Basta! Che vuoi da noi, Gesù Nazareno? Sei venuto a rovinarci? Io so chi tu sei: il santo di Dio!».
35 But Jesus rebuked it, saying, 'Be quiet! Come out of him!' And the devil, throwing the man into themiddle, went out of him without hurting him at all.	35 Gesù gli ordinò severamente: «Taci! Esci da lui!». E il demonio lo gettò a terra in mezzo alla gente e uscì da lui, senza fargli alcun male.
36 Astonishment seized them and they were al saying to one another, 'What is it in his words? He givesorders to unclean spirits with authority and power and they come out.'	36 Tutti furono presi da timore e si dicevano l’un l’altro: «Che parola è mai questa, che comanda con autorità e potenza agli spiriti impuri ed essi se ne vanno?».
37 And the news of him travel ed al through the surrounding countryside.	37 E la sua fama si diffondeva in ogni luogo della regione circostante.
38 Leaving the synagogue he went to Simon's house. Now Simon's mother-in-law was in the grip of ahigh fever and they asked him to do something for her.	38 Uscito dalla sinagoga, entrò nella casa di Simone. La suocera di Simone era in preda a una grande febbre e lo pregarono per lei.
39 Standing over her he rebuked the fever and it left her. And she immediately got up and began to servethem.	39 Si chinò su di lei, comandò alla febbre e la febbre la lasciò. E subito si alzò in piedi e li serviva.
40 At sunset al those who had friends suffering from diseases of one kind or another brought them tohim, and laying his hands on each he cured them.	40 Al calar del sole, tutti quelli che avevano infermi affetti da varie malattie li condussero a lui. Ed egli, imponendo su ciascuno le mani, li guariva.
41 Devils too came out of many people, shouting, 'You are the Son of God.' But he warned them andwould not al ow them to speak because they knew that he was the Christ.	41 Da molti uscivano anche demòni, gridando: «Tu sei il Figlio di Dio!». Ma egli li minacciava e non li lasciava parlare, perché sapevano che era lui il Cristo.
42 When daylight came he left the house and made his way to a lonely place. The crowds went to look forhim, and when they had caught up with him they wanted to prevent him leaving them,	42 Sul far del giorno uscì e si recò in un luogo deserto. Ma le folle lo cercavano, lo raggiunsero e tentarono di trattenerlo perché non se ne andasse via.
43 but he answered, 'I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns too,because that is what I was sent to do.'	43 Egli però disse loro: «È necessario che io annunci la buona notizia del regno di Dio anche alle altre città; per questo sono stato mandato».
44 And he continued his proclamation in the synagogues of Judaea.	44 E andava predicando nelle sinagoghe della Giudea.
