Luke 16

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 He also said to his disciples, 'There was a rich man and he had a steward who was denounced to himfor being wasteful with his property.	1 Decía también a sus discípulos: «Era un hombre rico que tenía un administrador a quien acusaron ante él de malbaratar su hacienda;
2 He called for the man and said, "What is this I hear about you? Draw me up an account of yourstewardship because you are not to be my steward any longer."	2 le llamó y le dijo: “¿Qué oigo decir de ti? Dame cuenta de tu administración, porque ya no podrás seguir administrando.”
3 Then the steward said to himself, "Now that my master is taking the stewardship from me, what am I todo? Dig? I am not strong enough. Go begging? I should be too ashamed.	3 Se dijo a sí mismo el administrador: “¿Qué haré, pues mi señor me quita la administración? Cavar, no puedo; mendigar, me da vergüenza.
4 Ah, I know what I wil do to make sure that when I am dismissed from office there will be some towelcome me into their homes."	4 Ya sé lo que voy a hacer, para que cuando sea removido de la administración me reciban en sus casas.”
5 'Then he called his master's debtors one by one. To the first he said, "How much do you owe mymaster?"	5 «Y convocando uno por uno a los deudores de su señor, dijo al primero: “¿Cuánto debes a mi señor?”
6 "One hundred measures of oil," he said. The steward said, "Here, take your bond; sit down and quickly write fifty."	6 Respondió: “Cien medidas de aceite.” El le dijo: “Toma tu recibo, siéntate en seguida y escribe cincuenta.”
7 To another he said, "And you, sir, how much do you owe?" "One hundred measures of wheat," hesaid. The steward said, "Here, take your bond and write eighty."	7 Después dijo a otro: “Tú, ¿cuánto debes?” Contestó: “Cien cargas de trigo.” Dícele: “Toma tu recibo y escribe ochenta.”
8 'The master praised the dishonest steward for his astuteness. For the children of this world are moreastute in dealing with their own kind than are the children of light.'	8 «El señor alabó al administrador injusto porque había obrado astutamente, pues los hijos de este mundo son más astutos con los de su generación que los hijos de la luz.
9 'And so I tel you this: use money, tainted as it is, to win you friends, and thus make sure that when itfails you, they wil welcome you into eternal dwel ings.	9 «Yo os digo: Haceos amigos con el Dinero injusto, para que, cuando llegue a faltar, os reciban en las eternas moradas.
10 Anyone who is trustworthy in little things is trustworthy in great; anyone who is dishonest in littlethings is dishonest in great.	10 El que es fiel en lo mínimo, lo es también en lo mucho; y el que es injusto en lo mínimo, también lo es en lo mucho.
11 If then you are not trustworthy with money, that tainted thing, who wil trust you with genuine riches?	11 Si, pues, no fuisteis fieles en el Dinero injusto, ¿quién os confiará lo verdadero?
12 And if you are not trustworthy with what is not yours, who will give you what is your very own?	12 Y si no fuisteis fieles con lo ajeno, ¿quién os dará lo vuestro?
13 'No servant can be the slave of two masters: he wil either hate the first and love the second, or beattached to the first and despise the second. You cannot be the slave both of God and of money.'	13 «Ningún criado puede servir a dos señores, porque aborrecerá a uno y amará al otro; o bien se entregará a uno y despreciará al otro. No podéis servir a Dios y al Dinero».
14 The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and jeered at him.	14 Estaban oyendo todas estas cosas los fariseos, que eran amigos del dinero, y se burlaban de él.
15 He said to them, 'You are the very ones who pass yourselves off as upright in people's sight, but Godknows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed in human eyes is loathsome in the sight of God.	15 Y les dijo: «Vosotros sois los que os la dais de justos delante de los hombres, pero Dios conoce vuestros corazones; porque lo que es estimable para los hombres, es abominable ante Dios.
16 'Up to the time of John it was the Law and the Prophets; from then onwards, the kingdom of God hasbeen preached, and everyone is forcing their way into it.	16 «La Ley y los profetas llegan hasta Juan; desde ahí comienza a anunciarse la Buena Nueva del Reino de Dios, y todos se esfuerzan con violencia por entrar en él.
17 'It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for one little stroke to drop out of the Law.	17 «Más fácil es que el cielo y la tierra pasen, que no que caiga un ápice de la Ley.
18 'Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another is guilty of adultery, and the man who marries awoman divorced by her husband commits adultery.	18 «Todo el que repudia a su mujer y se casa con otra, comete adulterio; y el que se casa con una repudiada por su marido, comete adulterio.
19 'There was a rich man who used to dress in purple and fine linen and feast magnificently every day.	19 «Era un hombre rico que vestía de púrpura y lino, y celebraba todos los días espléndidas fiestas.
20 And at his gate there used to lie a poor man called Lazarus, covered with sores,	20 Y uno pobre, llamado Lázaro, que, echado junto a su portal, cubierto de llagas,
21 who longed to fil himself with what fel from the rich man's table. Even dogs came and licked hissores.	21 deseaba hartarse de lo que caía de la mesa del rico... pero hasta los perros venían y le lamían las llagas.
22 Now it happened that the poor man died and was carried away by the angels into Abraham'sembrace. The rich man also died and was buried.	22 Sucedió, pues, que murió el pobre y fue llevado por los ángeles al seno de Abraham. Murió también el rico y fue sepultado.
23 'In his torment in Hades he looked up and saw Abraham a long way off with Lazarus in his embrace.	23 «Estando en el Hades entre tormentos, levantó los ojos y vio a lo lejos a Abraham, y a Lázaro en su seno.
24 So he cried out, "Father Abraham, pity me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water andcool my tongue, for I am in agony in these flames."	24 Y, gritando, dijo: “Padre Abraham, ten compasión de mí y envía a Lázaro a que moje en agua la punta de su dedo y refresque mi lengua, porque estoy atormentado en esta llama.”
25 Abraham said, "My son, remember that during your life you had your fill of good things, just asLazarus his fill of bad. Now he is being comforted here while you are in agony.	25 Pero Abraham le dijo: “Hijo, recuerda que recibiste tus bienes durante tu vida y Lázaro, al contrario, sus males; ahora, pues, él es aquí consolado y tú atormentado.
26 But that is not al : between us and you a great gulf has been fixed, to prevent those who want tocross from our side to yours or from your side to ours."	26 Y además, entre nosotros y vosotros se interpone un gran abismo, de modo que los que quieran pasar de aquí a vosotros, no puedan; ni de ahí puedan pasar donde nosotros.”
27 'So he said, "Father, I beg you then to send Lazarus to my father's house,	27 «Replicó: “Con todo, te ruego, padre, que le envíes a la casa de mi padre,
28 since I have five brothers, to give them warning so that they do not come to this place of torment too."	28 porque tengo cinco hermanos, para que les dé testimonio, y no vengan también ellos a este lugar de tormento.”
29 Abraham said, "They have Moses and the prophets, let them listen to them."	29 Díjole Abraham: “Tienen a Moisés y a los profetas; que les oigan.”
30 The rich man replied, "Ah no, father Abraham, but if someone comes to them from the dead, they willrepent."	30 El dijo: “No, padre Abraham; sino que si alguno de entre los muertos va donde ellos, se convertirán.”
31 Then Abraham said to him, "If they wil not listen either to Moses or to the prophets, they wil not beconvinced even if someone should rise from the dead."	31 Le contestó: “Si no oyen a Moisés y a los profetas, tampoco se convencerán, aunque un muerto resucite.”»
