1 Jesus left the Temple, and as he was going away his disciples came up to draw his attention to theTemple buildings.	1 Tendo saído Jesus do templo, ia-se retirando; e aproximaram-se dele os seus discípulos, para lhe fazerem notar as construções.
2 He said to them in reply, 'You see al these? In truth I tell you, not a single stone here wil be left onanother: everything will be pul ed down.'	2 Mas ele, respondendo, disse-lhes: "Vedes tudo isto? Em verdade vos digo que não ficará aqui pedra sobre pedra que não seja derribada."
3 And while he was sitting on the Mount of Olives the disciples came and asked him when they were bythemselves, 'Tel us, when is this going to happen, and what sign wil there be of your coming and of the end ofthe world?'	3 Estando sentado sobre o monte das Oliveiras, aproximaram- se dele seus discípulos, aparte, e perguntaram: "Diz-nos quando sucederá isto, e qual será o sinal da tua vinda e do fim do mundo?"
4 And Jesus answered them, 'Take care that no one deceives you,	4 Jesus respondeu-lhes: "Vede que ninguém vos engane.
5 because many wil come using my name and saying, "I am the Christ," and they will deceive many.	5 Porque virão muitos em meu nome, dizendo: Eu sou o Cristo, e seduzirão muitos.
6 You wil hear of wars and rumours of wars; see that you are not alarmed, for this is something thatmust happen, but the end wil not be yet.	6 Ouvireis falar de guerras e de rumores de guerras. Olhai, não vos turbeis, porque importa que estas coisas aconteçam, mas não é ainda o fim.
7 For nation wil fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There wil be famines andearthquakes in various places.	7 Levantar-se-á nação contra nação, e reino contra reino, e haverá fomes, pestilências e terremotos em diversos lugares.
8 All this is only the beginning of the birthpangs.	8 Todas estas coisas são o princípio das dores.
9 'Then you wil be handed over to be tortured and put to death; and you will be hated by all nations onaccount of my name.	9 Então sereis sujeitos aos tormentos e vos matarão, e sereis odiados por todas as gentes por causa do meu nome.
10 And then many wil fall away; people wil betray one another and hate one another.	10 Muitos então sucumbirão, uns aos outros se entregarão e se odiarão.
11 Many false prophets wil arise; they will deceive many,	11 Levantar-se-ão muitos falsos profetas, e seduzirão muitos.
12 and with the increase of lawlessness, love in most people wil grow cold;	12 Multiplicando-se a iniquidade, se resfriará a caridade de muitos.
13 but anyone who stands firm to the end wil be saved.	13 Mas o que se perseverar até ao fim, esse será salvo.
14 'This good news of the kingdom wil be proclaimed to the whole world as evidence to the nations. Andthen the end wil come.	14 Será pregado este Evangelho do reino por todo o mundo, em testemunho a todas as gentes. Então chegará o fim.
15 'So when you see the appal ing abomination, of which the prophet Daniel spoke, set up in the holyplace (let the reader understand),	15 Quando, pois, virdes a abominação da desolação, que foi predita pelo profeta Daniel (Dn. 9, 27; Dn. 11, 31; Dn. 12, 11), posta no lugar santo — leitor atende bem ,—
16 then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains;	16 então os habitantes da Judeia, fujam para os montes,
17 if anyone is on the housetop, he must not come down to col ect his belongings from the house;	17 o que se acha sobre o telhado, não desça para tomar coisa alguma de sua casa,
18 if anyone is in the fields, he must not turn back to fetch his cloak.	18 e o que está no campo, não volte atrás para tomar o seu manto.
19 Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come!	19 Ai das (mulheres) grávidas e das que tiverem crianças de peito naqueles dias!
20 Pray that you will not have to make your escape in winter or on a Sabbath.	20 Rogai para que não seja a vossa fuga no inverno, ou em dia de sábado,
21 For then there will be great distress, unparalleled since the world began, and such as wil never beagain.	21 porque então será grande a tribulação, como nunca foi, desde o principio do mundo até agora, nem jamais será.
22 And if that time had not been shortened, no human being would have survived; but shortened thattime shal be, for the sake of those who are chosen.	22 E, se não se abreviassem aqueles dias, não se salvaria pessoa alguma; porém, serão abreviados aqueles dias em atenção aos escolhidos.
23 'If anyone says to you then, "Look, here is the Christ," or "Over here," do not believe it;	23 Então, se alguém vos disser: Eis aqui está o Cristo, ou ei-lo acolá, não deis crédito,
24 for false Christs and false prophets wil arise and provide great signs and portents, enough to deceiveeven the elect, if that were possible.	24 porque se levantarão falsos cristos, e falsos profetas, e farão grandes milagres e prodígios, de tal modo que (se fosse possível) até os escolhidos seriam enganados.
25 Look! I have given you warning.	25 Eis que eu vo-lo predisse.
26 'If, then, they say to you, "Look, he is in the desert," do not go there; "Look, he is in some hiding place," do not believe it;	26 Se pois vos disserem: Eis que ele está no deserto, não saiais; ei-lo no lugar mais retirado da casa, não deis crédito.
27 because the coming of the Son of man wil be like lightning striking in the east and flashing far intothe west.	27 Porque, assim como o relâmpago sai do Oriente e se mostra até ao Ocidente, assim será a vinda do Filho do homem.
28 Wherever the corpse is, that is where the vultures wil gather.	28 Onde estiver um cadáver aí se ajuntarão as águias.
29 'Immediately after the distress of those days the sun wil be darkened, the moon wil not give its light,the stars wil fall from the sky and the powers of the heavens wil be shaken.	29 Logo depois da tribulação daqueles dias, escurecer-se-á o sol, a lua não dará a sua luz, as estrelas cairão do céu, e as potestades dos céus serão abaladas.
30 And then the sign of the Son of man wil appear in heaven; then, too, all the peoples of the earth wilbeat their breasts; and they wil see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.	30 Então aparecerá o sinal do Filho do homem no céu, todas as tribos da terra chorarão, e verão o Filho do homem vir sobre as nuvens do céu com grande poder e majestade.
31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet to gather his elect from the four winds, from one endof heaven to the other.	31 Mandará os seus anjos com poderosas trombetas, e juntarão os seus escolhidos dos quatro ventos, de uma extremidade dos céus até à outra.
32 'Take the fig tree as a parable: as soon as its twigs grow supple and its leaves come out, you knowthat summer is near.	32 Compreendei isto por uma comparação tirada da figueira: Quando os seus ramos estão tenros e as folhas brotam, sabeis que está perto o estio;
33 So with you when you see al these things: know that he is near, right at the gates.	33 assim também quando virdes ludo isto, sabei que (o Filho do homem) está perto, está às portas.
34 In truth I tel you, before this generation has passed away, al these things wil have taken place.	34 Na verdade vos digo que não passará esta geração, sem que se cumpram todas estas coisas.
35 Sky and earth will pass away, but my words wil never pass away.	35 O céu e a terra passarão, mas as minhas palavras não passarão.
36 But as for that day and hour, nobody knows it, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, no one butthe Father alone.	36 Quanto àquele dia e àquela hora, ninguém sabe, nem os anjos do céu, nem o Filho, mas só o Pai.
37 'As it was in Noah's day, so wil it be when the Son of man comes.	37 Assim como foi nos dias de Noé, assim será também a (segunda) vinda do Filho do homem.
38 For in those days before the Flood people were eating, drinking, taking wives, taking husbands, rightup to the day Noah went into the ark,	38 Nos dias que precederam o dilúvio (os homens) estavam comendo e bebendo, casando-se e casando seus filhos, até ao dia em que Noé entrou na arca,
39 and they suspected nothing til the Flood came and swept them al away. This is what it wil be likewhen the Son of man comes.	39 e não souberam nada até que veio o dilúvio, e se levou a todos. Assim será também na vinda do Filho do homem.
40 Then of two men in the fields, one is taken, one left;	40 Então, de dois que estiverem num campo, um será tomado e o outro será deixado.
41 of two women grinding at the mil , one is taken, one left.	41 De duas mulheres que estiverem moendo com a mó, uma será tomada e a outra será deixada.
42 'So stay awake, because you do not know the day when your master is coming.	42 Vigiai, pois, porque não sabeis a que hora virá o vosso Senhor.
43 You may be quite sure of this, that if the householder had known at what time of the night the burglarwould come, he would have stayed awake and would not have al owed anyone to break through the wal of hishouse.	43 Sabei que, se o pai de família soubesse a que hora havia de vir o ladrão, vigiaria, sem dúvida, e não deixaria minar a sua casa.
44 Therefore, you too must stand ready because the Son of man is coming at an hour you do notexpect.	44 Por isso estai vós também preparados, porque o Filho do homem virá na hora em que menos o pensardes.
45 'Who, then, is the wise and trustworthy servant whom the master placed over his household to givethem their food at the proper time?	45 Quem é, pois, o servo fiel e prudente, a quem o senhor constituiu sobre a sua família para lhe distribuir de comer a seu tempo?
46 Blessed that servant if his master's arrival finds him doing exactly that.	46 Bem-aventurado aquele servo, a quem o seu senhor, quando vier, achar procedendo assim.
47 In truth I tel you, he will put him in charge of everything he owns.	47 Na verdade vos digo que lhe confiará o governo de todos os seus bens.
48 But if the servant is dishonest and says to himself, "My master is taking his time,"	48 Mas, se aquele servo mau disser no seu coração: O meu senhor tarda em vir,
49 and sets about beating his fellow-servants and eating and drinking with drunkards,	49 e começar a bater nos seus companheiros, a comer e beber com os ébrios,
50 his master wil come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not know.	50 virá o senhor daquele servo no dia em que o não espera, na hora que não sabe,
51 The master wil cut him off and send him to the same fate as the hypocrites, where there wil beweeping and grinding of teeth.'	51 e o cortará em dois e porá a sua parte entre os hipócritas; ali haverá pranto e ranger de dentes.
