Matthew 24

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Jesus left the Temple, and as he was going away his disciples came up to draw his attention to theTemple buildings.	1 Jesús salió del Templo y, mientras iba caminando, sus discípulos se acercaron a él para hacerle notar las construcciones del mismo.
2 He said to them in reply, 'You see al these? In truth I tell you, not a single stone here wil be left onanother: everything will be pul ed down.'	2 Pero él les dijo: «¿Ven todo esto? Les aseguro que no quedará aquí piedra sobre piedra: todo será destruido».
3 And while he was sitting on the Mount of Olives the disciples came and asked him when they were bythemselves, 'Tel us, when is this going to happen, and what sign wil there be of your coming and of the end ofthe world?'	3 Cuando llegó al monte de los Olivos, Jesús se sentó y sus discípulos le preguntaron en privado: «¿Cuándo sucederá esto y cuál será la señal de tu Venida y del fin del mundo?».
4 And Jesus answered them, 'Take care that no one deceives you,	4 El les respondió: «Tengan cuidado de que no los engañen,
5 because many wil come using my name and saying, "I am the Christ," and they will deceive many.	5 porque muchos se presentarán en mi Nombre, diciendo: "Yo soy el Mesías", y engañarán a mucha gente.
6 You wil hear of wars and rumours of wars; see that you are not alarmed, for this is something thatmust happen, but the end wil not be yet.	6 Ustedes oirán hablar de guerras y de rumores de guerras; no se alarmen: todo esto debe suceder, pero todavía no será el fin.
7 For nation wil fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There wil be famines andearthquakes in various places.	7 En efecto, se levantará nación contra nación y reino contra reino. En muchas partes habrá hambre y terremotos.
8 All this is only the beginning of the birthpangs.	8 Todo esto no será más que el comienzo de los dolores del parto.
9 'Then you wil be handed over to be tortured and put to death; and you will be hated by all nations onaccount of my name.	9 Ustedes serán entregados a la tribulación y a la muerte, y serán odiados por todas las naciones a causa de mi Nombre.
10 And then many wil fall away; people wil betray one another and hate one another.	10 Entonces muchos sucumbirán; se traicionarán y se odiarán los unos a los otros.
11 Many false prophets wil arise; they will deceive many,	11 Aparecerá una multitud de falsos profetas, que engañarán a mucha gente.
12 and with the increase of lawlessness, love in most people wil grow cold;	12 Al aumentar la maldad se enfriará el amor de muchos,
13 but anyone who stands firm to the end wil be saved.	13 pero el que persevere hasta el fin, se salvará.
14 'This good news of the kingdom wil be proclaimed to the whole world as evidence to the nations. Andthen the end wil come.	14 Esta Buena Noticia del Reino será proclamada en el mundo entero como testimonio delante de todos los pueblos, y entonces llegará el fin.
15 'So when you see the appal ing abomination, of which the prophet Daniel spoke, set up in the holyplace (let the reader understand),	15 Cuando vean en el Lugar santo la Abominación de la desolación, de la que habló el profeta Daniel –el que lea esto, entiéndalo bien–
16 then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains;	16 los que estén en Judea, que se refugien en las montañas;
17 if anyone is on the housetop, he must not come down to col ect his belongings from the house;	17 el que esté en la azotea de su casa, no baje a buscar sus cosas;
18 if anyone is in the fields, he must not turn back to fetch his cloak.	18 y el que esté en el campo, que no vuelva a buscar su manto.
19 Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come!	19 ¡Ay de las mujeres que estén embarazadas o tengas niños de pecho en aquellos días!
20 Pray that you will not have to make your escape in winter or on a Sabbath.	20 Rueguen para que no tengan que huir en invierno o en día sábado.
21 For then there will be great distress, unparalleled since the world began, and such as wil never beagain.	21 Porque habrá entonces una gran tribulación, como no la hubo desde el comienzo del mundo hasta ahora, ni la habrá jamás.
22 And if that time had not been shortened, no human being would have survived; but shortened thattime shal be, for the sake of those who are chosen.	22 Y si no fuera abreviado ese tiempo, nadie se salvaría; pero será abreviado, a causa de los elegidos.
23 'If anyone says to you then, "Look, here is the Christ," or "Over here," do not believe it;	23 Si alguien les dice entonces: «El Mesías está aquí o está allí», no lo crean.
24 for false Christs and false prophets wil arise and provide great signs and portents, enough to deceiveeven the elect, if that were possible.	24 Porque aparecerán falsos mesías y falsos profetas que harán milagros y prodigios asombrosos, capaces de engañar, si fuera posible, a los mismos elegidos.
25 Look! I have given you warning.	25 Por eso los prevengo.
26 'If, then, they say to you, "Look, he is in the desert," do not go there; "Look, he is in some hiding place," do not believe it;	26 Si les dicen: "El Mesías está en el desierto", no vayan; o bien: "Está escondido en tal lugar", no lo crean.
27 because the coming of the Son of man wil be like lightning striking in the east and flashing far intothe west.	27 Como el relámpago que sale del oriente y brilla hasta el occidente, así será la Venida del Hijo del hombre.
28 Wherever the corpse is, that is where the vultures wil gather.	28 Donde esté el cadáver, se juntarán los buitres.
29 'Immediately after the distress of those days the sun wil be darkened, the moon wil not give its light,the stars wil fall from the sky and the powers of the heavens wil be shaken.	29 Inmediatamente después de la tribulación de aquellos días, el sol se oscurecerá, la luna dejará de brillar, las estrellas caerán del cielo y los astros se conmoverán.
30 And then the sign of the Son of man wil appear in heaven; then, too, all the peoples of the earth wilbeat their breasts; and they wil see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.	30 Entonces aparecerá en el cielo la señal del Hijo del hombre. Todas las razas de la tierra se golpearán el pecho y verán al Hijo del hombre venir sobre las nubes del cielo, lleno de poder y de gloria.
31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet to gather his elect from the four winds, from one endof heaven to the other.	31 Y él enviará a sus ángeles para que, al sonido de la trompeta, congreguen a sus elegidos de los cuatro puntos cardinales, de un extremo al otro del horizonte.
32 'Take the fig tree as a parable: as soon as its twigs grow supple and its leaves come out, you knowthat summer is near.	32 Aprendan esta comparación, tomada de la higuera: cuando sus ramas se hacen flexibles y brotan las hojas, ustedes se dan cuenta de que se acerca el verano.
33 So with you when you see al these things: know that he is near, right at the gates.	33 Así también, cuando vean todas estas cosas, sepan que el fin está cerca, a la puerta.
34 In truth I tel you, before this generation has passed away, al these things wil have taken place.	34 Les aseguro que no pasará esta generación, sin que suceda todo esto.
35 Sky and earth will pass away, but my words wil never pass away.	35 El cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras no pasarán.
36 But as for that day and hour, nobody knows it, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, no one butthe Father alone.	36 En cuanto a ese día y esa hora, nadie los conoce, ni los ángeles del cielo, ni el Hijo, sino sólo el Padre.
37 'As it was in Noah's day, so wil it be when the Son of man comes.	37 Cuando venga el Hijo del hombre, sucederá como en tiempos de Noé.
38 For in those days before the Flood people were eating, drinking, taking wives, taking husbands, rightup to the day Noah went into the ark,	38 En los días que precedieron al diluvio, la gente comía, bebía y se casaba, hasta que Noé entró en el arca;
39 and they suspected nothing til the Flood came and swept them al away. This is what it wil be likewhen the Son of man comes.	39 y no sospechaban nada, hasta que llegó el diluvio y los arrastró a todos. Lo mismo sucederá cuando venga el Hijo del hombre.
40 Then of two men in the fields, one is taken, one left;	40 De dos hombres que estén en el campo, uno será llevado y el otro dejado.
41 of two women grinding at the mil , one is taken, one left.	41 De dos mujeres que estén moliendo, una será llevada y la otra dejada.
42 'So stay awake, because you do not know the day when your master is coming.	42 Estén prevenidos, porque ustedes no saben qué día vendrá su Señor.
43 You may be quite sure of this, that if the householder had known at what time of the night the burglarwould come, he would have stayed awake and would not have al owed anyone to break through the wal of hishouse.	43 Entiéndanlo bien: si el dueño de casa supiera a qué hora de la noche va a llegar el ladrón, velaría y no dejaría perforar las paredes de su casa.
44 Therefore, you too must stand ready because the Son of man is coming at an hour you do notexpect.	44 Ustedes también estén preparados, porque el Hijo del hombre vendrá a la hora menos pensada.
45 'Who, then, is the wise and trustworthy servant whom the master placed over his household to givethem their food at the proper time?	45 ¿Cuál es, entonces, el servidor fiel y previsor, a quien el Señor ha puesto al frente de su personal, para distribuir el alimento en el momento oportuno?
46 Blessed that servant if his master's arrival finds him doing exactly that.	46 Feliz aquel servidor a quien su señor, al llegar, encuentre ocupado en este trabajo.
47 In truth I tel you, he will put him in charge of everything he owns.	47 Les aseguro que lo hará administrador de todos sus bienes.
48 But if the servant is dishonest and says to himself, "My master is taking his time,"	48 Pero si es un mal servidor, que piensa: «Mi señor tardará»,
49 and sets about beating his fellow-servants and eating and drinking with drunkards,	49 y se dedica a golpear a sus compañeros, a comer y a beber con los borrachos,
50 his master wil come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not know.	50 su señor llegará el día y la hora menos pensada,
51 The master wil cut him off and send him to the same fate as the hypocrites, where there wil beweeping and grinding of teeth.'	51 y lo castigará. Entonces él correrá la misma suerte que los hipócritas. Allí habrá llanto y rechinar de dientes.
