Malachi 2

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 'And now, priests, this commandment is for you.	1 Ed ora a voi quest'ordine, o sacerdoti.
2 If you will not listen, if you will not sincerely resolve to glorify my name, says Yahweh Sabaoth, I shalcertainly lay a curse on you and I shal curse your blessing. Indeed I wil lay a curse, for none of you makes thisresolve.	2 Se voi non volete dar retta, se non volete prendere a cuore di dar gloria al mio nome, — dice il Signore degli eserciti io vi manderò la miseria, e maledirò le vostre benedizioni, le maledirò, perchè non (le) avete prese a cuore.
3 Now, I am going to break your arm and throw offal in your faces -- the offal of your solemn feasts -- andsweep you away with it.	3 Ed ecco io vi getterò la spalla, vi getterò in faccia lo sterco delle vostre solennità, e vi resterà attaccato.
4 Then you wil know that I sent this commandment to you, to affirm my intention to maintain my covenantwith Levi, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	4 E voi saprete che io v'ho mandato quest'ordine, per far continuare il mio patto con Levi — dice il Signore degli eserciti.
5 My covenant was with him -- a covenant of life and peace, and these were what I gave him -- acovenant of respect, and he respected me and held my name in awe.	5 Il mio patto con chi fu di vita e di pace, e diedi a lui il timore, e mi temè, e tremava al mio nome.
6 The law of truth was in his mouth and guilt was not found on his lips; he walked in peace and justicewith me and he converted many from sinning.	6 La legge della verità fu nella sua bocca, e sulle sue labbra non fu trovata iniquità, camminò con me nella pace e nell'equità, e molti ritrasse dal peccato.
7 The priest's lips ought to safeguard knowledge; his mouth is where the law should be sought, since heis Yahweh Sabaoth's messenger.	7 Le labbra del sacerdote custodiranno la scienza, e alla bocca di lui chiederanno la legge, perchè è l'angelo del Signore degli eserciti.
8 But you yourselves have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to lapse by your teaching.Since you have destroyed the covenant of Levi, says Yahweh Sabaoth,	8 Ma voi siete usciti di strada, siete stati di scandalo a molti nella legge, avete reso vano il patto di Levi — dice il Signore degli eserciti.
9 so I in my turn have made you contemptible and vile to the whole people, for not having kept my waysand for being partial in applying the law.	9 E per questo anch'io vi renderò vili e abbietti per tutti i popoli, perchè non avete seguite le mie vie ed avete avuti riguardi personali nella legge.
10 'Is there not one Father of us al ? Did not one God create us? Why, then, do we break faith with oneanother, profaning the covenant of our ancestors?	10 Non è uno solo il Padre di tutti noi? Non è uno solo il Dio che ci ha creati? Perchè dunque ognuno di noi disprezza il proprio fratello, violando il patto dei nostri padri?
11 Judah has broken faith; a detestable thing has been done in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah hasprofaned Yahweh's beloved sanctuary; he has married the daughter of an alien god.	11 Giuda ha prevaricato, l'abominazione è stata commessa in Israele e in Gerusalemme, perchè Giuda ha contaminato il santuario del Signore, da lui amato, sposando figlie di dèi stranieri.
12 May Yahweh deprive such an offender of witness and advocate in the tents of Jacob among those whopresent offerings to Yahweh Sabaoth!	12 Il Signore sterminerà dalle tende di Giacobbe chi avrà fatta tal cosa, il maestro, il discepolo e colui che offre doni al Signore degli eserciti.
13 'And here is something else you do: you cover the altar of Yahweh with tears, with weeping andwailing, because he now refuses to consider the offering or to accept it from you.	13 E di più avete fatto anche questa: avete coperto l'altare del Signore di lacrime, di pianto, di mugli, tanto che io non guardo più a verun sacrifizio, e nulla posso ricevere dalle vostre mani che possa placarmi.
14 And you ask, "Why?" Because Yahweh stands as witness between you and the wife of your youth,with whom you have broken faith, even though she was your partner and your wife by covenant.	14 E voi dite: « Per qual motivo? » Perchè il Signore fu testimone fra te e la moglie della tua prima giovinezza. da te poi disprezzata, essa, che era la tua compagna, la sposa del tuo patto.
15 Did he not create a single being, having flesh and the breath of life? And what does this single being seek? God -- given offspring! Have respect for your own life then, and do not break faith with the wife of youryouth.	15 Non fece (anche lei) l'Unico? Non è il resto del suo spirito? E che cerca l'Unico se non la posterità di Dio? Custodite dunque il vostro spirito, e non disprezzate le spose della vostra prima giovinezza.
16 For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, God of Israel, and people concealing their cruelty under a cloak, saysYahweh Sabaoth. Have respect for your own life then, and do not break faith.	16 Se poi tu l'hai in avversione, rimandala; ma l'iniquità coprirà il suo vestimento — dice il Signore degli eserciti. Conservate dunque il vostro spirito e non vogliate disprezzarle.
17 'You have wearied Yahweh with your talk. You ask, "How have we wearied him?" When you say, "Anyevil-doer is good as far as Yahweh is concerned; indeed he is delighted with them"; or when you say, "Where isthe God of fair judgement now?"	17 Voi avete recato affanno al Signore coi vostri discorsi. Ma voi dite: « In che gli abbiamo recato affanno? » In questo che voi andate dicendo: « Tutti quelli che fanno il male son buoni davanti al Signore, son proprio quelli che gli piacciono » o almeno: « Dov'è il Dio del giudizio? »
