Malachi 2

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 'And now, priests, this commandment is for you.	1 ¡Y ahora, para ustedes es esta advertencia, sacerdotes!
2 If you will not listen, if you will not sincerely resolve to glorify my name, says Yahweh Sabaoth, I shalcertainly lay a curse on you and I shal curse your blessing. Indeed I wil lay a curse, for none of you makes thisresolve.	2 Si no escuchan y no se deciden a dar gloria a mi Nombre, dice el Señor de los ejércitos, yo enviaré sobre ustedes la maldición y maldeciré sus bendiciones; ya las he maldecido, porque ustedes no se deciden a hacer eso.
3 Now, I am going to break your arm and throw offal in your faces -- the offal of your solemn feasts -- andsweep you away with it.	3 Yo les quebraré el brazo, les tiraré estiércol a la cara –el estiércol de sus fiestas– y ustedes serán barridos con él.
4 Then you wil know that I sent this commandment to you, to affirm my intention to maintain my covenantwith Levi, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	4 Entonces sabrán que yo les hice esta advertencia, para que subsista mi alianza con Leví, dice el Señor de los ejércitos.
5 My covenant was with him -- a covenant of life and peace, and these were what I gave him -- acovenant of respect, and he respected me and held my name in awe.	5 Mi alianza con él era vida y paz, y yo se las concedía; era temor, y él me temía y reverenciaba mi Nombre.
6 The law of truth was in his mouth and guilt was not found on his lips; he walked in peace and justicewith me and he converted many from sinning.	6 La verdadera doctrina estaba en su boca y en sus labios no había maldad; él caminaba conmigo en paz y con rectitud, y apartaba a muchos del mal.
7 The priest's lips ought to safeguard knowledge; his mouth is where the law should be sought, since heis Yahweh Sabaoth's messenger.	7 Porque los labios del sacerdotes guardan la ciencia y de su boca se busca la instrucción, porque es el mensajero del Señor de los ejércitos.
8 But you yourselves have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to lapse by your teaching.Since you have destroyed the covenant of Levi, says Yahweh Sabaoth,	8 Pero ustedes se han desviado del camino, han hecho tropezar a muchos con su doctrina, han pervertido la alianza con Leví, dice el Señor de los ejércitos.
9 so I in my turn have made you contemptible and vile to the whole people, for not having kept my waysand for being partial in applying the law.	9 Por eso yo los he hecho despreciables y viles para todo el pueblo, porque ustedes no siguen mis caminos y hacen acepción de personas al aplicar la Ley.
10 'Is there not one Father of us al ? Did not one God create us? Why, then, do we break faith with oneanother, profaning the covenant of our ancestors?	10 ¿No tenemos todos un solo Padre? ¿No nos ha creado un solo Dios? ¿Por qué nos traicionamos unos a otros, profanando así la alianza de nuestros padres?
11 Judah has broken faith; a detestable thing has been done in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah hasprofaned Yahweh's beloved sanctuary; he has married the daughter of an alien god.	11 Judá ha traicionado, y se ha cometido una abominación en Israel y en Jerusalén. Porque Judá ha profanado lo que está consagrado al Señor, lo que él ama, casándose con la hija de un dios extranjero.
12 May Yahweh deprive such an offender of witness and advocate in the tents of Jacob among those whopresent offerings to Yahweh Sabaoth!	12 Al hombre que hace esto, que el Señor le arranque de los campamentos de Jacob al testigo, al garante y aun al que presenta la ofrenda al Señor de los ejércitos.
13 'And here is something else you do: you cover the altar of Yahweh with tears, with weeping andwailing, because he now refuses to consider the offering or to accept it from you.	13 Ustedes hacen todavía otra cosa: cubren el altar del Señor de lágrimas, llantos y gemidos, porque él no se vuelve más hacia la ofrenda, ni la acepta de las manos de ustedes.
14 And you ask, "Why?" Because Yahweh stands as witness between you and the wife of your youth,with whom you have broken faith, even though she was your partner and your wife by covenant.	14 Y ustedes dicen: «¿Por qué?». Porque el Señor ha sido testigo entre ti y la esposa de tu juventud, a la que tú traicionaste, aunque ella era tu compañera y la mujer de tu alianza.
15 Did he not create a single being, having flesh and the breath of life? And what does this single being seek? God -- given offspring! Have respect for your own life then, and do not break faith with the wife of youryouth.	15 ¿No ha hecho él un solo ser, que tiene carne y espíritu? ¿Y qué busca este único ser? Una descendencia dada por Dios. Tengan cuidado, entonces, de su espíritu y que nadie traicione a la mujer de su juventud.
16 For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, God of Israel, and people concealing their cruelty under a cloak, saysYahweh Sabaoth. Have respect for your own life then, and do not break faith.	16 Porque si alguien repudia por aversión, cubre su ropa de violencia, dice el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel. Tengan cuidado, entonces, de su espíritu y no traicionen.
17 'You have wearied Yahweh with your talk. You ask, "How have we wearied him?" When you say, "Anyevil-doer is good as far as Yahweh is concerned; indeed he is delighted with them"; or when you say, "Where isthe God of fair judgement now?"	17 Ustedes cansan al Señor con sus palabras, y dicen: «¿En qué lo cansamos?». Cuando ustedes dicen: «Todo el que obra mal es bien visto por el Señor, y él se complace en ello» o también: «¿Dónde está el Dios de la justicia?».
