NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 'And now, priests, this commandment is for you.	1 - E ora vien fatta questa intimazione a voi, o sacerdoti:
2 If you will not listen, if you will not sincerely resolve to glorify my name, says Yahweh Sabaoth, I shalcertainly lay a curse on you and I shal curse your blessing. Indeed I wil lay a curse, for none of you makes thisresolve.	2 - Se voi non mi vorrete ascoltare e non prenderete a cuore di dar gloria al mio nome, dice il Signore degli eserciti, io manderò l'indigenza in mezzo a voi, e maledirò le vostre benedizioni e le maledirò, perchè non avete preso a cuore.
3 Now, I am going to break your arm and throw offal in your faces -- the offal of your solemn feasts -- andsweep you away with it.	3 Ecco che io vi ritirerò la spalla [delle vostre vittime], e vi spanderò lo sterco delle vostre solennità sulla faccia, e che vi porti seco!
4 Then you wil know that I sent this commandment to you, to affirm my intention to maintain my covenantwith Levi, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	4 E saprete che ho fatto a voi questa intimazione, affinchè persista la mia alleanza coi figli di Levi, dice il Signore degli eserciti.
5 My covenant was with him -- a covenant of life and peace, and these were what I gave him -- acovenant of respect, and he respected me and held my name in awe.	5 La mia alleanza con lui fu di vita e di pace, e gli diedi il timore e mi temè, e davanti al nome mio tramava.
6 The law of truth was in his mouth and guilt was not found on his lips; he walked in peace and justicewith me and he converted many from sinning.	6 La legge della verità fu nella sua bocca e iniquità non si trovò sulle sue labbra; si comportò meco con pace e rettitudine e ritrasse molti dall'iniquità:
7 The priest's lips ought to safeguard knowledge; his mouth is where the law should be sought, since heis Yahweh Sabaoth's messenger.	7 perchè le labbra del sacerdote devono custodire la scienza e dalla sua bocca ricercheranno la legge, perchè esso è l'angelo del Signore degli eserciti.
8 But you yourselves have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to lapse by your teaching.Since you have destroyed the covenant of Levi, says Yahweh Sabaoth,	8 Ma voi vi siete discostati dalla vostra strada e siete stati a molti d'inciampo nella legge e avete infranto il patto di Levi, - dice il Signore.
9 so I in my turn have made you contemptible and vile to the whole people, for not having kept my waysand for being partial in applying the law.	9 Quindi anch'io vi ho resi spregevoli e abiètti a tutta la popolazione, siccome non avete mantenuta l'osservanza dei miei regolamenti, facendo preferenze alle persone riguardo alla legge.
10 'Is there not one Father of us al ? Did not one God create us? Why, then, do we break faith with oneanother, profaning the covenant of our ancestors?	10 Non è egli uno stesso il padre di tutti noi? non è egli uno stesso Dio, quegli che ci ha creati? Perchè adunque ciascuno di noi disprezza il proprio fratello, profanando il patto dei padri nostri?
11 Judah has broken faith; a detestable thing has been done in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah hasprofaned Yahweh's beloved sanctuary; he has married the daughter of an alien god.	11 Giuda ha prevaricato ed una cosa abominevole è stata commessa in Israele e in Gerusalemme: perchè Giuda profanò ciò che è sacro al Signore, ciò che gli è caro, ed ebbe [in moglie] la figlia d'un dio straniero.
12 May Yahweh deprive such an offender of witness and advocate in the tents of Jacob among those whopresent offerings to Yahweh Sabaoth!	12 Il Signore disperderà l'uomo che ha fatto questo, il maestro e il discepolo dai tabernacoli di Giacobbe e colui che presenta l'offerta al Signore degli eserciti!
13 'And here is something else you do: you cover the altar of Yahweh with tears, with weeping andwailing, because he now refuses to consider the offering or to accept it from you.	13 E un'altra cosa avete fatto ed è questa: Avete ricoperto di lacrime l'altare del Signore, e di pianto e di gemito, in modo che non posso più volger lo sguardo al sacrificio, nè raccogliere qualche cosa di gradevole dalle vostre mani.
14 And you ask, "Why?" Because Yahweh stands as witness between you and the wife of your youth,with whom you have broken faith, even though she was your partner and your wife by covenant.	14 E voi avete detto: - E per qual motivo? - Perchè il Signore è stato testimonio fra te e la donna che hai sposato giovane, e che tu hai vilipesa mentre era tua consorte e tua legittima sposa.
15 Did he not create a single being, having flesh and the breath of life? And what does this single being seek? God -- given offspring! Have respect for your own life then, and do not break faith with the wife of youryouth.	15 Non è forse uno stesso che la fece? e non è forse un residuo del suo spirito? e che cosa cerca quest'uno se non una prole di Dio? Custodite adunque il vostro spirito: e tu non essere sleale con la moglie della tua giovinezza.
16 For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, God of Israel, and people concealing their cruelty under a cloak, saysYahweh Sabaoth. Have respect for your own life then, and do not break faith.	16 - Quando tu l'abbi in avversione, rimandala, dice il Signore Dio di Israele, ma a costui l'iniquità ricoprirà il vestimento, dice il Signore degli eserciti. - Custodite il vostro spirito e non vogliate essere sleali.
17 'You have wearied Yahweh with your talk. You ask, "How have we wearied him?" When you say, "Anyevil-doer is good as far as Yahweh is concerned; indeed he is delighted with them"; or when you say, "Where isthe God of fair judgement now?"	17 Voi avete fatto pena al Signore coi vostri discorsi, e avete detto: - In che gli abbiam fatto pena? - In quanto andate dicendo: - Chiunque fa male è buono negli occhi del Signore, e costoro gli piacciono! - oppure: - Dov'è il Dio della giustizia? -
